The "Official" MOTUC Mer-Man Discussion Thread (now w/ Pixel Dan photos!)

Which head do you like more?
For me, I have to go with the one that's based on the classic figure. I think he looks creepier that way.

The "original" head is cool and all, but I like the "card back" head better!

I like both heads, but LOVE the cardback/200X-looking head the best. I still think it's wicked awesome he's getting two heads though.

I wonder if Stinkor will come with this head and a more skunk-looking head like 200X?

I think Mer-Man is perfect. Two heads = awesome idea. Couldn't ask for better weapons. The only thing I think could make him even BETTER is if they included an additional left hand (like his right hand), so he could hold both weapons at once!

I'm more than please with his look, sculpt and paint though.

I like the cardback version better. However I may have to army build him in and use the classic head and take away the armor and trident for his minions......

I prefer the cardback head. Even as a kid I hated the toy's expression on Mer-man's face.... it's got that deer caught in the headlights look to me. Always liked the character, but it was in spite of the figure's headsculpt.

If I do get the figure, the cardback head would be displayed and the original head would either go in the trash, or I'd mail it to someone here who wanted it.

Man... now I want to buy three Merman figures. The 8-Back head to keep as the "real" Merman, and the other two (with "Stinkor" heads) to use as his royal guards!

I prefer the newer Merman because I really like that look... but I really like the option of having both because they are so drastically different. Thanks Mattel/Four Horsemen!

To me, Mer-Man was never creepy or evil-like (original head tries so hard).

I find the cardback-head more suited. He can look goofy, but still in a monster-way that you will flinch.

Mer Man was always one of my favorite figures as a kid. I love the cardback head, it's just ****ing awesome for what it is, but I really think I like the original head better. There's something really creepy about it, just like Tallstar said. Plus it really reminds me of being a kid when I look at the classic head. Mer Man was only out-ranked by Hordak as my favorite figure when I was little, So I gotta go with the classic toy head over the cardback head.

And after all that, I'm so glad they are giving us both heads, so we can choose to display which one WE like better!! Such a great idea.

I definitely like the 8-back head better than the classic figure head. The classic head looks like he's trying to hard to use the bathroom.

The alternate head (the 8-back one) it's almost like he's wearing goggles. If the ears weren't different I'd say it was just his goggles/non-goggles looks.

I like both versions. Both of them capture Merman very well. If I don't get two of him, I can already see I will be switching the heads around while he is on display.

I prefer the 8-back/Alcala minicomics head myself.

I do like the other classic toy head too, so it's not like I'll be throwing that one away or anything, but I'm betting when I get mine, he'll be sporting the 8-back head mostly.

Mer-Man was probably my favorite figure growing up and I love the 2002 figure as well. It's nice to see we get both with this figure. I'm gonna have to buy 3 so I can display the 2 heads and 1 for my son.

I prefer the 8-back head, but will likely get 2 of the figure so that I can display both at the same time.

Mer-Man is beyond amazing. I probably prefer the vintage toy head just *barely* over the cardback head. I don't know, it might just depend on which one I'm looking at at the time.

I'll be getting three Mer-Mans now. One to display MOC, and then two to display each head. An absolutely *stupendous* looking figure. This could be the greatest action figure line of *all time.* I can't believe that every single figure has been such a grand slam homerun. Thank you 4HM and Mattel!

I'm liking the the 8 back head more and more the more I look at it. I like the other head too but it always reminded me of a cat, I can't help but think I'm going to be left with this uncontrollable urge to pet the figure.

I like the cardback head, but I'm tempted to buy two, so I can display him both ways.

I have been waiting for cardback Mer-Man since 1981-2. That is the greatest figure ever. I may have to buy 2 tho, cuz both look great, and Mer-Man was always a favorite!
