I bought three. One is Mer-Man and uses the 8-Back head. The other two are his warriors and they use the original toy-head.
Not to sound like a creepy cheerleader for Uki, but it's nice to know there is at least one person on this forum who is extremely positive & friendly all the time. I don't think I could be that nice even if you paid me. If we ever give out awards for "forum member of the month", Uki gets my vote. -Mr. Shokoti

For me, I have to go with the one that's based on the classic figure. I think he looks creepier that way.
i like the new cardback head 1000x better. It matches the rest of the figure in terms of color & theme. The vintage head has that flat orange on the face, which there is no flat orange on the rest of the figure so it clashes & looks like crap imo. Maybe if Merman's undies had been orange like the vintage figure, the vintage head wouldn't look so bad to me. I've never been much of a fan of the vintage merman's head anyway, since it never looked anything like the cardback pic. more like a cheap lazy effort, but failed attempt to create it.

plus the old head looks nothing like a 'fish' imo, it has fur and goofy eyes, etc. like some kind of diseased cat head. What's that orange crap around the eyes? i never could figure that out. looks like some type of skin disease to me.
The new head has more fishlike eyes, better detail and is colored to match the rest of the figure. and no fur. only good thing I can say about the vintage head is i like that it has bottom jaw teeth.

glad they have two heads to choose from, but the cardback head is the only one that's being used on my Merman. just as the mustached head will be used on my MAA when it comes.

Sorry for being late to the party. I just got Mer-mans from Val and MattyCollector just a little more than a week ago and I have just been so busy with work and a newborn baby.

Anyway, click on Mer-man below to go to my Mer-man album.

    Hope you guys enjoy it.

Woohoo! These are beautiful Guia X, I've really been looking forward to seeing what you would come up with for Mer-man.

Love the aquarium! Suits Mr. Rex very nicely!

Thank you. I have been anticipating taking Mer-man's photos in the aquarium for a while. I hope my fishes did not mind too much. I did not take so much because I did not want to disturb them for that long. I still have other plans for Mer-man but unfortunately, I have so much going on right now that I will have to plan for it another time. Most likely after next week. So more still to come for Mer-man.

    Hey, congrats on the baby!

Damn...why oh why doesn't Mattel just hire Guia to do their ads? It's like a no-brainer, just like with Emiliano. Those Mer-Man pics are just beautiful!

Thank you. She just turned three months two days ago. We are still reajusting to a new baby again while trying to raise a two year old boy who never runs out of batteries. Our sleeping patterns changed again just when we started getting it back to normal.

Guia X your camera skills and lighting ability really make the 4HM's work pop. I wish Mattel would take the time to release press shots half as good as yours.
Thank you for taking time away from the little ones to do so.

this is my favorite one! is that a photo shop effect or a black light?

"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments" (Matthew 22:36-40).

Thank you. That is when my main lights went off in the middle of the shoot. It's the actinic lights of the aquarium. It's basically a blueish light and makes the corals really glow and Mer-man as well. It simulates the dusk cycle of the lighting period. No photoshop except color correction, cropping, sharpening, and resizing.
