WTFWTK 2.7 - Ask your questions here!

Rules for What The Fans Want To Know:
    • Each user is limited to 1 question per Q&A.
    • Posts with repeat questions & multiple questions will be deleted, and the offending user will no longer be permitted to participate in that particular Q&A. So check to see if your question has been asked and help everyone out!
Be sure to check the posts in this thread before you, as well as previous Q&A sessions!
    • This is for questions only; not discussion.
    • We will start a new Q&A thread when it is time for more questions, approximately every 2 weeks. So please don't start new Q&A threads.

    Please avoid questions about:
    • Figure specific requests (eg: When will we see She-Ra?).

Figure specific requests will undoubtedly be met with a "anything is possible" answer.
The figures that can be produced are figures that were in the original MOTU, POP and NA lines, as well as in the mini-comics for these lines.
Characters that appeared in the 2002 MYP cartoon are also fair game.
    Filmation characters are off limits!
Who will be produced will remain to be seen.

We will pick the 10 questions we feel might get answers at that time. Please do not take offense to your question not being asked.
    It's nothing personal.

Previous WTFWTK sessions (questions and Mattel answers):

The 10 questions that were asked in the previous Q&A & will be answered in a couple weeks as follows (please do not repeat them, or questions from previous Q&As):

    1. Are there, or will there be any plans to release blank, unpainted versions of characters for customizers to use in creating custom characters?

    2. Will Mattel release any 2-packs or boxsets? (eg: Rock people, Evil Horde, army builder sets, etc)

    3. If Mattel releases figures that can serve as army builders (leg: Horde troopers, palace guards, etc), will lift the ordering limit so fans can order larger quantities?

    4. Since Warner Bros distributes the 1987 movie, and Warner owns DC, and Mattel has a relationship with DC, is deal possible with WB where Mattel can release characters from the movie that never saw action-figure form in the 80s?

    5. At the very least, can Mattel make 1987 movie-design inspired figures of characters they own? (eg: Skeletor, Sorceress, etc)

    6. How well does the MOTUC line have to perform before Mattel will consider increasing their release frequency? (eg: 2 figures a month or more)

    7. Has made any progress with the subscription / preordering / group shipping option? Many fans would like to save money on shipping by having figures shipped in intervals while avoiding a possible sell-out of a first-edition figure.

    8. Has Mattel given thought to the option of letting foreign distributors or retailers purchase/handle quantities of the line to help defray shipping & handling costs to fans?

    9. Has Mattel considered producing accessory packs for specific characters to modify them into other figures, with the hopes of keeping production costs low while offering more variety to fans? (eg: Terror Claws Skeletor gear)

    10. Will the cards have the factions displayed below the MOTU logo as they did in the 80s (eg: Snake Men, Evil Horde) or alternate logos (eg: Princess of Power logo for She-Ra characters)?

    So ask those questions!

Might we see the release of a Commemorative line,
or a MOTUC / Commemorative 2-pack type line,
where we once again get figures in their original 1980s sculpting style, especially figures that were never released back then such as He-Ro or the Star Sisters?

Given the very anorexic, insect-like shape of Mattel's DCUC Wonder Woman/Artemis figures (not to mention Batgirl, Catwoman, etc from earlier in that particular line), one has to worry about what the MOTUC girls will come out like... will Mattel be using all new sculpts for female figures in the line, or recycling the thin proportions from their own DCUC line? A lot of fans feel the women need to have proportions that are similar in tone to the classic line with a bit more of a "body" to them- please don't be afraid to give She-Ra, Teela and all the other females some musculature!

Since we're getting some figures with swappable heads, will the heads be removable on every figure, even those without an alternate packed in?
It would be nice to easily customize our figures with the armor and heads of our choice, especially if we want the head from the 2nd Skeletor release (what/whenever that may be) displayed on the 1st Skeletor body, for example.

In the 200X MOTU line, it was my understanding that the Four Horsemen did most of the sculpting/designs, but Mattel did some themselves in-house. Will the Four Horsemen be retained to sculpt and/or design all the figures in MOTUC?

Will we get any new art especially produced for MOTUC on the cardbacks or future vehicles/playsets?

For rooted hair on the PoP figures, instead of switching vendors, could you have them produced at a factory that makes Barbie heads and then make a boxset of rooted PoP/Teela heads? You could also just put a single head in a baggie and ship it alongside the figure.

Having ONLY a sculpted head is a major disappointment to a lot of PoP fans. Expecially since this is a "classics" line and the classic figures had rooted hair. It would be wonderful to have these alternate heads.

When will we see our first NON-motu character in the line i.e. new adventure or princess of power characters?

The Mattel Licensing Style guide (viewable online here: ), trademarked Mattel 1986, depicts the She-Ra characters using Filmation-accurate designs. Yet nowhere in the styleguide is there a Filmation copyright mark or logo. Lots of licensed Mattel products from that time used artwork resembling characters appeareances as they look in the style guide.
Could this be the loophole Mattel needs to make toys that look like the characters from the She-Ra cartoon show? Please look into this issue and tell us if the characters appearences shown in this styleguide can be made in the new Classic Masters line.
    Thank you.

Sense the line is being sold online. Will Mattel consider allowing MVC to do an online comic book ( in addition to the mini comics coming with the toys that should be done by mvc) and give them the creative freedom to tell the story that they had planned for volume 3.

    Hello there, ToyGuru!

I would like to know if Mattel has ever considered teaming up with LEGO for a LEGO line based on Masters of the Universe...
Could we ever expect to see such a thing?
