WTFWTK 2.8 - Ask your questions here!

Rules for What The Fans Want To Know:
    • Each user is limited to 1 question per Q&A.
    • Posts with repeat questions & multiple questions will be deleted, and the offending user will no longer be permitted to participate in that particular Q&A. So check to see if your question has been asked and help everyone out!
Be sure to check the posts in this thread before you, as well as previous Q&A sessions!
    • This is for questions only; not discussion.
    • We will start a new Q&A thread when it is time for more questions, approximately every 2 weeks. So please don't start new Q&A threads.

    Please avoid questions about:
    • Figure specific requests (eg: When will we see She-Ra?).

Figure specific requests will undoubtedly be met with a "anything is possible" answer.
The figures that can be produced are figures that were in the original MOTU, POP and NA lines, as well as in the mini-comics for these lines.
Characters that appeared in the 2002 MYP cartoon are also fair game.
    Filmation characters are off limits!
Who will be produced will remain to be seen.

We will pick the 10 questions we feel might get answers at that time. Please do not take offense to your question not being asked.
    It's nothing personal.

Previous WTFWTK sessions (questions and Mattel answers):

    --------------

The 10 questions that were asked in the previous Q&A & will be answered in a couple weeks as follows (please do not repeat them, or questions from previous Q&As):

    1. For many Q&A answers, Mattel will say "if there is enough fan interest" that something asked about could happen. Unfortunately, that never tells fans the specifics on what needs to happen in order to create that level of interest. So, what exactly quantifies "enough fan interest?"

    2. Might we see the release of a new Commemorative line,
or a MOTUC / Commemorative 2-pack type line,
where we once again get figures in their original 1980s sculpting style, especially figures that were never released back then such as He-Ro or the Star Sisters?

    3. Will Mattel be using all new sculpts for female figures in the line, or recycling female parts from the DCUC line? A number of fans feel the women should have proportions that are similar in tone to the classic line with a bit more "shape", whereas the DCUC females tend to be very thin in appearance.

    4. Since we're getting some figures with swappable heads, will the heads be removable on every figure? Even those without an alternate packed-in head?
It would be nice to easily customize our figures with the armor and heads of our choice (eg: placing the head from the 2nd Skeletor release (what/whenever that may be) onto 1st Skeletor body)

    5. In the 200X MOTU line, while the Four Horsemen did the majority of sculpts, some refreshes were done in-house by Mattel. Will the Four Horsemen be sculpting and/or designing all of the figures in MOTUC?

    6. Because of the push-back on the initial MOTUC release date, what is Mattel's proposed schedule for announcing new figures, showing photos, and showing us packaging (which we haven't seen any of yet)?

    7. When will we see the first MOTUC sculpts of characters from New Adventures, Princess of Power, and the 2002 MOTU universe?

    8. Instead of switching vendors, couldn't Mattel just produce rooted hair POP heads at a factory that makes Barbie heads? You could then package an additional rooted hair POP head with figures, or produce a set of additional variant heads to sell to fans.

    9. In official MOTU licensing styleguides for the classic POP line, no mention of Filmation exists and there is only a ™ for Mattel. The designs inside are closer to the appearance of the characters on the Filmation cartoon. Does this mean those designs in the classic styleguide are possible for POP figures in the MOTUC line?

    10. Will Mattel ever team up with LEGO to have a LEGO-inspired MOTUC line?

    --------------

    So ask those questions!

Seeing as all PoP figures will come with sculpted hair as opposed to rooted hair, this would mean no plastic combs included with each character like in the classic PoP line. This might be a stretch, but since we're not getting a plastic comb would Mattel consider adding an additional accessory with each PoP character- perhaps a standard sword to go with the standard shield most of the PoP characters come with? Since they won't be "dolls" anymore, it would be nice for them to come with an actual weapon to do battle with

If the new rumors are true about the new MOTU movie being at the very least delayed if not cancelled, will there be any efforts to speed up production on a new cartoon series or direct to DVD cartoon movie to help bring more mainstream attention to the line?

Would it be feasible to get a Cringer figure separate from Battle cat in MOTUC, and if not maybe you guys could package a battle cat with a less sinister looking head, with 1 fang, and the removable armor?

Well, since folks have asked about "blank" characters and LEGOS, I got a couple of good ones,
is it possible to do small MOTU collectibles in the same vein as Hasbros "Heroes" lines? Because with limited space and budget, I would be MUCH more likely to buy a two inch HE-MAN vs HORDAK or SY-KLONE vs SKELETOR than the actual figures.

***One question per user - please follow the rules of the Q&A session***
People who say certain characters should never be remade is stupid. Throw rocks at them.

I support Filmation characters for MOTUC! Let Mattel know it's worth their while to get the rights to those characters!

You have stated that the male figures will have shorter furry pants, which should allow them more freedom of movement/the ability to sit down, but what about the females? Are we going to be stuck with figures that have plastic miniskirts and therefore no leg articulation, like the Teela and She-Ra figures from the 200X line? I want my queen marlena and Sorceress to be able to sit on their respective thrones!

When the subscription service becomes available, might exclusive figures be included in it?
