That head of that 12" Giant He-man is a total FAIL !

I really like to have this He-man, even at the cost of 75$, but when i look at this head ... i got sick.

Whats your mayor opinion about this niceguy-face he-man.

What is the respond of mattel so far?

It's a horrible headsculpt. I would never consider buying it.

$75 is way to much for there IMO. If the head wasn't so hideous, he would have been the only one out of the 4 that I would like to have.

That screwed up head will cost them alot of sales. I think the majority of people who buy this will probably not have seen their He-Man figure since the 80's and will not know that the hair is jacked up.

I don't think it looks bad... I think the eye and eyebrow paint apps are the problem

I remember someone saying that the head sculpt is identical to the commemorative sculpt but larger. I need to look at the pictures again unless someone can verify that.

EDIT: Just looked. It is not the same.

I called city hall and was not able to get the mayor on the phone to get his opinion.

The face is almost the same, but the hair is different (worse in each case)

I think this line wont come this far if they start with such a failor on a main-figure.

I was considering buy this giant He-man, but i think now i think it will be a giant failure to do so.

    Better offer an alternate head.

Yep, I'm going to be that guy . . .

Should this thread be in the Classics forum?

My mayor made the following press release when questioned: "As Mayor, I have made public well-being the top priority of my administration. Accordingly, in response to the "nice-guy face He-Man" that was brought to my attention today, the City has taken extra measures to keep this toy out of our citizen's hands."

There's been a lot of discussion in the thread dedicated to the giants already about this. I don't know... I'm a bit torn. The hair is weird looking. I'm not sure if it's enough for me to pass completely on it or not.

I agree with your sentiment. I have zero interest in these oversized figures or the mini yet both are featured in a number of topics under the "CLASSICS" heading. I can understand that they are related but they are clearly different animals.

The head looks awful actually, the hair is a bit too canary yellow also. $75 + Shipping is too much money for these things. $75 SHIPPED I can see, but as a base price = Bye Felicia!

I feel the same about Skeletor. The paint apps don't match at all...you'd think with a larger canvas, it would be easier to paint and you could get it closer to the original.

Where do you think it should go?
After the forum redesign the classics section is basicly everything MOTU Mattel owned from 2007 onwards.

    Hmmm, a conundrum.

Hey, if the mods don't move it, who am I to say anything?

Not that I needed a lot of incentive not to buy with that pricetag (I might have picked one up at $40 maybe), but the headsculpt made it a mortal lock.

And since I won't buy a line without the main dude, I will end up saving a TON by not buying any of these.

The giants are a real missed opportunity. At $50, I could be swayed to pick up the bad guys at the least but $75 plus what I'm sure will be more than $25 shipping to Canada make these so far out of my price range it's not even a temptation. The horrible He-Man head just makes me shake my own. IMO these were rushed for some reason and inadequate time/resources were spent on developing them.

Terrible head design! Won't commit my hard earned cash to such a flawed design. Is the rest if the figure made of solid plastic or a hollow shell! If it's the latter, he'll probably have QC issues later on. Keep your stuff Mattel!

I'm guessing Mattel's in house team sculpted these, right?

It's just amazing to me that a smaller company like Gentle Giant can nail the Star Wars and G.I. Joe vintage stuff so well but that a larger company like Mattel can't. I mean, I don't think it is just that this He-Man doesn't look identical to the vintage; it is that he just looks awkward.

I wonder why Mattel didn't just scan the vintage figures and scale them up (isn't that what Gentle Giant have done with their Star Wars Jumbos)?

The initial reveal pics looked awful, but it looked much better during the Pixel Dan walk through. I think that in hand it will look ok, but not perfect.
Hey, if you want to wallow in the negative, go nuts. Sure, things aren’t absolutely perfect, and people passionate about a property can get all keyed up about things. But I don’t collect toys to be miserable. So I’d rather think about the things that do excite me
