Harcover Bound MV Creations MOTU Comic

I read a couple of articles a few months back about binding loose comic books. I really liked the way they turned out so I did some research and decided to get some made. The 200X MOTU comics seemed like a good fit because they deserved a nice hardcover volume. I sent them off to a company called Library Binding and got the volume in yesterday.

I am really pleased with the results. I bought some of the cardstock covers of the issues, so the book has some difficulty laying flat, but it is great to have all of these stories in one volume. I included all three volumes, Rise of the Snakemen, Icons of Evil, the Target Two Pack Comic, Power of Fear, and the Encyclopedia.

    That's very cool!

Just so you know, MVC DID make hardcover volumes collecting the first 2 mini-series that they did. They were somewhat limited in number, but can still be found if you look around.

Now, as for Volume 3 (the monthly issues) the option you chose is the only way to have those in hardback, as MVC's series was cancelled before they got a chance to do a trade for Volume 3.

    Nightwing:

    Wow, awesome!

    Jack T. Chance:

I dunno if I'd even count the Vol 2 hardcover.
The printer totally screwed us on that and glue bound the entire thing.
It falls apart if you even look at it funny.

I didn't realize how bad it truly was until a couple years later when I realized that the few I had were all in pieces.. and they had just been sitting there untouched.

I am glad to have your approval, Val.

I didn't really know what came out in trade, but I have never been one to buy collections of issues that I already have. The great thing about this is that I can easily have all the issues in one place without having doubles. I am currently trying to thin out a lot of my comics, but this is a good way to keep what I want without having to keep the issues in boxes.

I am wanting to get a dust jacket made up some time.

That's really nifty work. I was just rereading all of my MOTU comics, and Val, you guys did a fantasmo job on that stuff. Kudos. Too bad I never got Volume three...
Not to sound like a creepy cheerleader for Uki, but it's nice to know there is at least one person on this forum who is extremely positive & friendly all the time. I don't think I could be that nice even if you paid me. If we ever give out awards for "forum member of the month", Uki gets my vote. -Mr. Shokoti

No wonder it took me so long to find a Vol 2 Hardcover intact. I'd order one....I'd get it in two or more pieces....I'd send it back. Fourth time was a charm. I guess the one and only time I opened my good one will be the last.
I'm sure it will eventually fall apart and thanks to the link above, I'll know where to send it to get it repaired.

Volume 1 (Issues 1-4) also had a trade size paperback, a regular size paperback, and a Hardcover.

Volume 2 (Issues 1-6) also had a regular paperback and a hardcover.

Icons of Evil (Issues 1-4) also had a regular paperback.

Volume 3 (Issues 1-8) and Rise of the Snakemen (Issues 1-3) are only available in single comic form.

    Looks great Nightwing!
I'd love to do that with my MotU comics!
(After all, it cost me a small fortune to buy and import them, I prolly should protect them!)

For my collection, I also put in the Target Two Pack Comic, The Power of Fear, and the Season 1 Encyclopedia issue. After removing a few ads at the end of the issues, the stack came in under 2 inches, which is the maximum Library Binding allows without an extra charge.

Although, If your going to do the bound hardcover thing then I would make your list look like this (you've got to have ScareGlow in there )

    Vol 1
    Vol 2
    Icons of Evil
    Rise of the Snakemen
"The Power of Fear" Dream Halloween 2003
    Vol 3

That looks really nice as a collected edition like that.

I was wondering, are the issues permanantly bound together? Or can they still be removed if you ever decided to separate and keep them as their original conditions?

Thank you all for your help!
I am now 5-6 issues away from completing the comics..

amy I ask, is the ICONS OF EVIL comics different in content, or is it just one comic with 3 variant covers each with a different villain?

Adam is right.. I checked back when I started but found nothing.

    Grahamcrackers was very helpful though.
My question wasnt about the different covers but for the material inside the comic. the story. is each ICONS OF EVIL issue a different story?
