To Open or Not to Open / MOC (mint on card) Versus Loose

Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone else has the same problem I do when it comes to MOTU figures. I don't know if I should open them or not. The collector in me tells me to never open a figure and keep the packaging in mint condition. The kid in me wants to open the suckers up, play with them and display them in my own poses.

Now, I know the obvious answer to this problem is to buy two, one for play and one for keeps. But frankly, its a stretch for me to buy one of each character at $30 each(Toy budget shrinks when you have a family)

I have my MOTUC figures ordered and am currently waiting on getting them in the mail. I've seen pictures of others that have already gotten theirs and I must say I am stoked!!

Definitely open 'em. You need to have the figures in your hands to fully appreciate just how cool they are.

Well both the collector and the kid in me tell me to open them. I mean, I feel like - especially with this line - the best way to really appreciate them and all their articulated goodness is to open them and have fun posing them.

i'm not a MOSC collector so I say open them... but just open it so that you can slide the plastic holding the fig out of the bubble, remove the fig and slide the plastic back in. Then tack the box on the wall somewhere near your collection thus you get to display both package and toy and don't lose out on the fun of having beastman ride on he-man's back.

I will also keep the cardback, though. I do that with most lines I collect, now.

I`m glad i had the kid in me when i ordered, I got 1 of each 1 for the MOC collector in me and the other for the kids in me to pose on a shelf lol

As MOTU collectors, until now we have been denied the awesomeness of articulation, and these have the PERFECT amount so do yourself a favor and REVEL in it! I got mine tonight and they are SO MUCH more fun and awesome OUT of the box! You will NOT regret it!!!

Nope, the few that I have are pinned to the walls in there plastic prisons & I like them deprived of air, food, & water.

Are you more into the box than th figure itself? The box is just a shell. The figure has articulation, detail, and is all kinds of fun to actually hold. I guess that is why I don't own any fish. I hate only being able to look, but not touch something I own. But it's all up to you to decide.

Hi, I can not decide if I should open my MOTUC fig's or not. For the most part I am a MOC collector,but man do I want to set these guy's up! Please give me some input on what you guy's think. I am new here and also would like to say hello to all.

Hi and welcome. I would open 'em. They are great in box but so much greater loose. And you can't really play or pose them if ya don't open them, what a shame...

See! That's why I buy more than one. I can open it as I always wanted, since I open everything anyway.

And still have one left on card! Maybe to open later on!

I got one of each, well i get every figure MOC for my wall and only the ones i want loose for my display, so it works itself out usually

OPEN. There is no other way. Unless you want to rent storage space for your collection.

Just curious how many of you MOTUC fans are Mint On Card collectors versus Loose collectors. I personally purchase AT LEAST 2 of each figure, one for MOC display, and one for loose display.

I'm torn, but I guess if I had to choose I would consider myself more of a MOC collector. I mean, I love to tear these packages open and actually get my hands on the figure, but I feel that the packaging adds a certain element to these figures than just displaying them loose. (which I do anyway) The Grayskull brick and name of the character just pop out at you.

So I guess this thread is about which way you collect, and why. Are you MOC? Are you loose? Are you both?

I'm both! I was going to just buy one figure to open and display loose, but after I took He-Man and Beast Man out of their package, I just had to have them in the package as well. Lucky for me they didn't sell out as fast as the figures do now and I was able to order another set. Now I buy 2 of each figure and display both! Usually the loose figure standing right in front of the carded one. If I ever get my "display room" cleaned up, I may try to hang the carded ones so I have more room on the shelves to display the loose ones!

I'm a loose collector. When a figure gets released I buy 1 and open it up when I get it.
