When I get my MOTUC, I will open them. A 20-30 year old vintage toy, that's another thing. Besides, they look awful in their packages (horrible poses).

    I've bought 1 he-man, 2 beastman and 2 skeletor (thanks to SirCory).
I only bought extras just for skeletor and beastman (because they're my absolute fave characters), i opened the rest.

Hi and welcome. I would open 'em. They are great in box but so much greater loose. And you can't really play or pose them if ya don't open them, what a shame...

See! That's why I buy more than one. I can open it as I always wanted, since I open everything anyway.

And still have one left on card! Maybe to open later on!

I've always been an opener, but so far I've kept all my motuc figs sealed. Not for any collecting or financial reasons, but simply because I stopped collecting action figures two or three years ago, and I really have nowhere to display these at the moment...they were just too cool to miss out on. Something that very rarely happens with me in the action figure world any more, as the stuff that I like doesn't tend to be made much any more, or made very well even when it is. But this line, damn, could not miss out on these guys...

That's not to say that one day I won't still open them all up, but for right now I'm just hording one of each, glad to just own an improved slice of my childhood.

I order two of each figure to keep one MOC and have one loose.

I would recommend doing what makes you happier, damien. You spent the money, so you should do what brings you the most enjoyment. I know that doesn't really help you, but I believe the decision should be yours.

Thus far, my guys are still sealed in their plastic prisons. I usually don't open most figures I get. I would potentially buy re-releases if they come out with the main "cast", but am not certain. Buying 2 of every figure each months would be expensive, and would require 2x the space.

I doubt they will ever be worth massive money years down the road. I've had too many collections that the bottom fell out on to ever collect MOC.

I'm also a believer that keeping things sealed forever is insulting to the creators. Walk up to a comic writer and tell him you have 3 copies of his book. Have him ask if you like it, only to reply "I don't know, never opened it"...

These figures have a LOT of awesome work put in to them. All that articulation is wasted if it just sits in a box!

I NEVER open my figures, unless i have multiples. And even then, i'd rather sell them or just keep them.

I only have 3 figures that are loose. They are mint, and 100% complete, and i have them on display.

They are from the 200X line. They are Martial Arts He-Man, Spin Blade Skeletor, and Tri-Clops.

But yeah, go ahead. Open yours and make mine worth more money!!!

Well, if your all about playing with them in the bathtub, then keep them moc. They float like champs and you get to keep reading the bios anytime you want. But if your more the sandbox type, well, you should probably go ahead and open them up, BUT keep that package so you don't forget the names n' stuff later. Actually maybe you should toss the cards to forget the new names, hmm, now I'm undecided

Since i only plan on ordering the main/favorite characters in this line, they will all stay MOC.

That's a good point, but remember that someone designed the packaging, too, and if it's insulting to the sculptor to keep it MOC, it could be insulting to the designer to open it up and discard his work.

My recommendation is to not do anything... yet. You are unsure and that too often leads to a hasty decision that you’ll probably regret. If you are keeping them MOC for a financial investment, then that is the wrong reason. For me, figures look great MOC. They remind me of how they looked when I first got them for Christmas (or whatever) as a kid.

If you ever get to the point when it feels right to open them, do it then. Remember, the rush you get from opening a figure quickly dies.

I open the ones for my diplay, and collect the entire line MOC. I like to do my displays how I like them to look, so some figures I won`t even bother to get loose, others I`l`ll get 2 of but I get them all MOC

Until this line I had not been collecting in the last 15 yrs, but I have historicaly not given a damn about the packaging and so I have always opened. I think the packaging for the MOTUC figures is really good however and I have a couple still unopened. I look at them and appreciate them and think to myself that I can wait a little longer. When Merman came however I just opened him and let me say that he is so much better out of the package. It is almost like the difference between a picture and actually having a three dimensional object in your hand. Even just on the shelf he looks so much better than the ones in packages. The sculp and detail and colors just come alive. I have to open them all now for sure.

I'd also be an opener on these (if I had them).
Reason being is the vast majority of toys from the past 15 years are not worth much.

Once collectors enter a field, and people start keeping stuff MOC, the value from that time on isn't very high.

The reason stuff prior to the dawn of collectors is worth money is because most of those items were opened and played with and there's few available in various pristine conditions, hence the value from the rarity.

So with MOTUC stuff, might as well open it and enjoy it, especially if you yourself are also keeping one copy MOC.
10 years from now, thanks to all the collecting, you'll be able to get MOTUC again MOC for a pretty decent price.
    (theoretically anyway)

The whole pleasure is about having the figure in your hands, to expose it in different poses, to have fun and to take awesome pictures of it !

So open it, man ! Except if you want your house to look like a store with figures on their pegs, that is.
