MOTUC Skeletor Face Differences

Thought this might be of interest. These are two Skeletors that I received. As you can see, there's a marked difference between the paint applications.

SMOOTH FACIAL PAINT SKELETOR. (BRIGHTER YELLOW)

CHOPPY FACE PAINT SKELETOR. (YELLOW IS TONED DOWN)

I hope mine is the toned down version... I won't really complain either way, though.

Good photo's Tally, I quite like the toned down (choppy) version. I have orderd three Skeletors, so here's hoping that one of them has the choppy effect!

Thank ya. I personally thought the smooth-faced one looked better in person.

Nah, i'd rather have a proper Keldor figure down the line with all the changes made to his outfit (boots, cape, no wrist spikes, different chest armour) and with an alternate melted head & acid vial like the 200X one had.

hmm i like both. not sure which one i like better. normally i would have said i doubt there is a noticable dif to me like the he-man heads but from this pic there seems to be a dif.

they both look good IMO.

I like them both and will be happy with either, but judging by those photos, I think I'd prefer the choppy toned down one if I were given the choice.

I liked the smooth-faced one better. Guess he just finished shaving!

Anyhoo, I ordered 3, so hoping I get one of each at least!

Gah! I like the more green/muted yellow too. I hope I get that one. Then again, I liked the "matte" He-Man and got glossy. So....yeah.

That's a production change.
Since the first figure shown had very little green on his face, and many expressed their dislike for that, the 4H have been able to send a new sample to the factory and have the paint application adjusted to the more green you see. Probably some heads still have the earlier paint application.

This is, indeed one of the true cases of Mattel listening to the fans and adjusting the product

Yes. Yes it does. Day-Glo will probably be the rarer of the two, and thus command about a thousand bucks on the secondary market.

Seriously though, I really do think it matters because there's such a marked difference between the two and they each give off their own 'vibe.' You don't have to strain to see this.

I certainly are glad about the change. That yellow face would've disappointed me, but the other one is awesome. I'm just bummed that he still doesn't habe black eye sockets. Now the only question left is which version I will receive.

All three of my Skeletors came with very good green application over their base yellow. I am really pleased with them!

Interesting...it looks as if there are two distinct base colors.

The smooth face appears to have a yellow basecoat, with some green airbrushing around the edge of the face, while the rougher face looks to have a green basecoat with the yellow drybrushed on top of it, which would also account for it being less smooth.

Thanks so much for posting this, I was hoping someone would. Did you open them? If so can you post a couple more pics of each loose?

That's a good way of putting it. Much better than my description/explanation.

Yep. Both were opened. All my digital shots of the 'smooth' version turned out like crap through. Unfortunately I don't have that one anymore to photograph him. Here's the 'rough' version though, loose: (It's not as bright as it looks in this pic...colors are closer to the Skeletor in the 2nd picture in my first post)

I'm sorry to ask and maybe stir up a hornet's nest, but I totally missed this before. What are the different versions of He-Man?

I ordered 6, so I'm hoping there'll be one of each included...

@Archer1120: one He-Man had a glossier face, one had a more matte face - and some people stated there were some kind of in between. A change during running production imo. And of Beast Man there was a figure with unpainted belt and slight differences on the amulet and it's chains... The belt certainly was unpainted by mistake (this version I guess is likely to be rare) and the amulet/chains color probable also a change during running production if you ask me.
