I've been relying on the library more and more, just to cut down on expenses (plus, I can't help it, I love libraries), but I picked up Tolkein's Unfinished Tales for Christmas.

As much I love LOTR, I'm finding it very hard to get through. Parts of the stories read fine, but then I feel like I'm slogging through an encyclopedia entry. I think I've developed a threshold for corollary information, in terms of what background info I really want/need.

That JJ Abrams metafictional novel, whatever it's called. It's still shrink wrapped cause it'll be some time before i find some time to read it and I don't want to lose any bits before I do.

Just bought (and finished) Bellville, Georgia: The First Hundred Years by Pharris DeLoach Johnson and am now reading Under the Southern Cross: Soldier Life with Gordon Bradwell and the Army of Northern Virginia, edited by Pharris DeLoach Johnson. The first was excellent and the second, so far, is excellent.

Went down to a local used book store to get a copy of "Red Sonja #4; Endithor's Daughter" by David C. Smith & Richard L. Tierney that I saw eariler. I then browsed and ended up adding a couple of other paperbacks to my purchase, these by Andrew J. Offutt, based on the covers. "King Dragon" and "My Lord Barbarian". High pulp fantasy is a new area for me outside Edgar Rice Burroughs, so experimenting a bit. Have my eye on the large "Coming of Conan the Cimmerian" book I saw at Barnes and Noble, but not yet (haven't been able to find Conan in the used book store scene or the local Library branch, and trying to lay off Amazon.com for now)

I ended up picking up and starting "Coming of Conan the Cimmerian" (The collection of the first Robert E. Howard Conan tales). Spending more time in the He-Man.org forums have resparked my Sword and Sorcery love, so looking at the modern original.

My last group of books I've bought:

Out_of_the_Shadows_Cover.png This book is apparently set between Alien and Aliens, and it baffled me how they expected us to believe Ellen Ripley, last survivor of the Nostromo has anything to do with this book. The author actually does a very good job with the story and explaining Ripley.

9781781166567_p0_v2_s260x420.JPG Great addition to the Grimm story, set around the second season episodes between "The Waking Dead" and "Good Night, Sweet Grimm"

maul-book-cover.jpg Haven't started this yet, though I'm about to.

Don't buy much mangas, but just got the second volume of Okayado's "Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls". Had a great time reading the first one a few months ago, and found this one just as entertaining, though feels quicker.
