MOTUC Quality Control Problems (Catch All Thread)

The only problem I had with mine was that the sword is painted instead of molded. The paint was already coming off the hilt after just a few times in and out of his hand:

I bought an extra He-Ro for customs, so I've gone ahead and started stripping it. I want Mattel to include a MOLDED blue sword in the weapons pack. I really liked the idea of molded blue with glitter and it sucks we got clear, painted blue, and flecked with silver paint.

I opened my He-ro, took off his sword and was left with the inside of his hand blue and the paint peeled from the sword

Thank goodness I have a second one NRFB. I really wish the sword was molded clear blue with glitter mixed in.

Has anyone noticed the really dark blue and really light blue he-ro swords? One being sky blue the other being a very dark blue.

I don´t know how an action figure with such a fail like not having an eyebrow even passes on the quality control to get on the card.
That really sucks paying 20$ plus shipping and a figure arriving in that state.

The paint apps on mine weren't that great either nor the cards, white mailer boxes were good though. I've come to expect this so it doesn't bother me like it did initially, only regret is that I wish I saved my money. I'll see if I can somehow fix the bad paint apps myself.

Agree that a missing brow is unacceptable!

The flaking sword is equally a miserable failure. I am so deluded. It seems that Mattel can't really provide a higher quaity standard that is due for an adult collectibles line.

I think it would be more acceptable if these were $10 figures instead of $20 figures.

Wow... These paint issues really begin to be annoying.

That is really a shame. Unacceptable ! It's been months now people on the forum complain about that paint issue... Nothing was done to change this.

About the eyebrow, I guess a little bit of acrylic paint might fix the problem. But still, this shouldn't happen, especially with the price you pay for a MOTUC figure ! In the 80's, with mass retailed products, I don't remember EVER having figures with bad paint applications.

I truly hope my He-Ro comes nice and perfect...

Big question : were these problems reported with the SDCC version as well ?

I must be missing something regarding the sword. Is casting it in clear plastic and painting it blue (and flecks) somehow cheaper for Mattel than casting it in blue (and adding the flecks)??

I don't get it.

I never had any paint issues, but I guess there's a first time for everything. Don't know if my He-Ro had to fight his way from the factory to my appartment, but his staff sure looks like it. It was like this while still in the box, with small flakes of peeled-off paint clinging to that inside, posing support, clear thing.

Let's hope that the next one is not as bad! Are they going to give you some soft of credit or any other goody? (you know.....for all the pain and suffering!)

nothing extra, just an even exchange. at first i wanted just a refund, but they told me i would have to pay return shipping. with an exchange you don't have to pay any shipping.

Heres my only HE-RO as of now, Picked it up from an orger, Mine still hasn't shipped from MATTY from Aug 3rd..

So here goes:

Black Scuff on his face.

Gold Marks dented into his shoulder. ARG!

That paint on the shoulder really sucks!
I dont know nothing about how to fix these kind of problems or even if there is a way to fix something like that without ruining the action figure, but it would be cool if some pro or at least someone with some knowledge on correcting these type of things could explain how things like this can be fixed.

yea, its really not cool. Its the first Figue ove got, with a issue.The shoulder dent really stinks. Kinda Sad.

i opened one of 9 hero's yesterday and noticed he had two left shoulders? he will be custom fodder for now! other than that everything else is fine. i hope the other 3 i open will be ok.

My personal gripe with the He-Ro that I've opened is that his staff will not stay shut. I have to use a small clear rubber band......no biggie! Does anyone else have this issue?
