But seriously, I wonder why did the penciler, George Tuska draw that outfit on her? Did DC not get any reference materials from Mattel like they did with that Zodac mini-comic, Slave City? I think that this might be the case, because Teela's design was already cemented in the mini-comics, golden books and coloring books. Tuska's inker, Alfredo Alcala didn't fill him in either? Or maybe they did intend the bikini as a casual outfit...

Maybe they wanted to give her something sexier. I bet they never imagined it would still be going strong to this day.

Gygor and Wun-Dar were in 0 canonical publications too, and Goddess only appeared in her green form in one mini-comic.

But I don't think that Orion Slave Girl from the new Star Trek movie has that much of a cult following, unlike the original Vina (Veena?) from the Cage. I think that one and also Slave Leia is more well known. The new Orion Slave Girl is just a bit of mild titilation by comparison... which is what I'd hope Bikini Teela wouldn't only be.

No reason why Teela couldn't change her hair color every now and then. Scarlett Johansson has had blonde, red and brunette hair.

MAA: "Teela, I've told you before that you need to wear formal uniforms in the service of our king. Besides, we don't want voyeurs like Skeletor's henchmen, or Prince Adam to be ogling you."

Teela: "What's wrong with that? When you got it, flaunt it."

You know, in the past I use to joke that the blonde Teela wasn't needed. But my opinion has changed. If she was more than a repaint (new head, metal bra, and furry underwear), I think she would be a cool character somewhere down the line. I think Vikor, along with the positive mini comic reviews have changed my mind.

I'm bummed out that the Matty staff couldn't answer the green Trap Jaw question properly in today's series of Ask Matty answers.

It makes me think they either don't know the difference between a pure repaint or mini-comic accurate GTJ or they just don't want to come out with the bad news that repaints (not kit-bashes) are all that's up for grabs.
