MOTUC Visions: Orko

I didn't have time to post him during the week and I almost dint' make it today (I got an assignment from Hasbro... oh, the irony), so here he is now

Orko doesn't have any copyright problems so to make the perfect one is a matter of nailing shape and proportions.
(if Mattel thinks making Orko shorter then the original toy is a copyright infringment, my urge of killing will rise...)

To achive that, I simply traced the cartoon model sheets and added articulations.
Hope this won't be disappointing, keep in mind those haven't been done to look good pieces of art, but they were meant to be directions on how the toy should look

See now thats an awesome Orko as he's to scale with the other characters as he should be.

If he looked like this and was packed with things like Cringer, Oidophus etc it would be awesome. Kowl...they can do Kowl can't they...

I think it looks very good, but I'm one of the few who liked the taller leaner wizard-y version from 200X more than the classic one. It'd be great if they did this version of Orko and packaged him with a MOTUC Oracle who could be the taller of the two and carry over more of the 200X figure's vibe.

You know I totally love all your others Emiliano but his one is my least favourite.
I feel his arms are far too short, he's too stout looking, his hat is way too small and he just doesn't say wizard to me.
However, if you want the child like Filmation Orko this is definitely a great representation!

I for never like the Filmation Orko.

It just depends on hwat you want from the character.
I loved the 200x Orko for instance.

You're right Eamon, this is meant to be exactly like the Filmation one.
Filmation intorduced Orko, so to me that's the definitive version.
How I execute them hasn't to do with my personal preferences and design style.
I try to follow the same logic the 4H do: Eric Treadaway went back to the source and tryied to portray the first 8 figures like they had been designed by Mark Taylor at the avery beginning.
So I wanted to go to Orko's root as well, and give a portrait of what he was at the beginning and how he's creators envisioned him.

Which, we must admit, is still the most iconc and recognizable look for Orko ;-)

That's why I hope no one is expecting anything fancy or crazy by this collection of designs.
For that I have a bunch of unseen 2002 designs I may post later on ;-)

I had a feeling it would be him.
Great work again!

He is a carbon copy for the Filmation one.
I never relized how short he is comparted to the original toy and the 200X style.
Makes him look a little chubby

.

Orko is a character I like but I really don't have any extreme pickyness about.
As long as they don't just toatlly change him or his colors.
If we get this style or more a 200X version I'm cool with it.

I do really like the articulation for the head and arms-I think you nailed that.

For what your after, it looks great Emiliano!

I think he'd make an Awesome pack-in to someone like Adam. Or maybe a Cringer Orko two pack.

I know that would make LOADS of fans happy.
(I probably wouldn't be into it honestly, but respect that seriously, most of MotU fandom would be ecstatic about that kind of idea.)

He's great!

IMO the 200x Orko was painfully annoying and so I really didn't have time for his design to grow on me.

I'd love to see him packaged with a Cringer!

Well i love his size! If we don't get a small Orko as a pack in I'm going to be really sad. I think i'd prefer him to be a little leaner in his "body" but really I think he looks excellent! :-)

I think it would be neat if he came with an amulet to wear and also maybe a clearish magic plasma ball but thats small and hand held.

He just needs a clear stand that inserts into his...ummm..."nether regions"...so he can display at eye level with the rest of the figures.

It's a nice rendition for the people that liked the more childish Orko... But this one is not for me he kinda looks like a muppet to me.. I prefer an orko that's able to kick hiney, like the Horsemen design. Also I think this Orko doesn't really fit in with the more serious barbaric look of the Classics that we have seen up until now.

Still a very cool version. And I second what Baena said-would be awesome with a Gringer or Adam figure.

The lower-left pic without the hat and arms makes him look like a shuttlecock. (those things used in a game of Badminton)

Perfect rendition of Orko. You people saying that this one doesn't fit it with the barbaric nature of the classics seem to forget that Orko isn't from Eternia and as we know, things are quite different on Trolla.

There's nothing wrong with Orko, and despite his powers being wonky most times on Eternia, he has saved the day many times.
