Reliving my childhood one figure at a time
That is a fantastic idea. It would both make Grayskull both more epic and more affordable. You'd have periodically released playsets that function on their own or could be joined together to be one big castle. I think it's work for the other playsets too and, in the end, you could have people putting them together in their own unique ways to create their own unique castles.
If we want to be realistic, there are no vehicles nor playsets planned or announced at this moment. So NO, alas, I don't think we'll see a playset in 2010...Do you think that we will see a Castle Grayskull playset or at least an early desing of one before the end of the year?
And Scareglow's "Castle Graskull capped" accessory contains a key. I believe it's just related to Scareglow's role in the MOTU mythos, and nothing more.
Maybe we'll see a playset, but it would be really amazing that we would see it before 2011.
Personally, I prefer that they'll concentrate and focus on the figures and mounts first, and most of all on the improvement of their customer service !Maybe we'll see other possibilities later...
Sadly, I doubt we will see a Castle Grayskull next year. The only way they would even THINK about doing one would be if Mattel liked money.
Do.... you.... like.... money, Mattel?
I can sooo do without vehicles. Give me characters and places for them to hang out. The castles were by far the best part of the original toyline. Honestly, I got several vehicles and I almost never played with any of them.
Castle Eternia, Grayskull, Snake Mtn, Fright Zone... I would take out a loan.

Personally, I think if Grayskull is to be done right, it has to be Filmation style, and in correct scale. That's right, I'm going to build a Castle Grayskull the size of my house!

hi.
as i've said before, i'm pretty new to motuc and motu in general. i pretty much need a castle grayskull to put these little plastic dudes on.
is the 200x one going to look better with them, or is the vintage one? and why? are the weapons on the weapons racks compatible, etc?
pretend i am totally ignorant (i am) and indulge me.
thanks!
Depends on your preference! Personally, I think both look good. However, the 200X's door will fit the figures better, while the classic one looks more out of scale, but (to me) makes a better display peice. So, I'd go for the classic one just 'cause it looks more ancient, and honestly, I don't care about how big it is compared to the figure.
Now, as for the weapons: the 200X weapons all mostly work for the figures (especially the guns!). The classic weapons aren't gona fit these guys very well, though. Some might hold them, but they'll look awfully tiny.

The answer is in the title of the line: Masters Of The Universe CLASSICS
Not to mention that the MOTU 2.0/200X/MYP castle looks horrendous with the ridiculous sabertooth tiger fangs it has in the cartoon, and the toy just looks cheap. A castle should look strong. The original toy doesn't look fantastic, but at least it looked powerful, and mysterious.
IMO no toy version to date has managed to capture the essence of the look it should have the way the Filmation design did. I'm hoping MOTUC will change that. If it does, I may just take all of the $ I haven't spent on the figures, and plunk it down on that.

I imagine it will look similar to the key holder that Scare Glow came with, which looks similar to Grayskull on the back of the original mini-comics.

This might start another vs debate.
But to answer you question without any era hatred or bias...
The vintage castle looks better, but it's smaller and not for scale with MOTUC. So it might as well be a diorama piece.
200X castle does work with MOTUC and if you aren't held to having Classic rooms inside of the castle, it could work.

The original is the best exterior, but it's too small. However I do like the 200x Battle Station in people's photos/displays...it fits better than either castle imo.
The best Grayskull?

"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments" (Matthew 22:36-40).
Definitely!
The 4H should look to this as inspiration for Castle Grayskull.
I still can't get over how cool that looks!
If the 200x didnt have that stupid X on its head and the skull was bigger then the top bridge, id say itd be the definitive castle. Its size and play value (2.0) is top notch.

I like the size, but not so much the sculpt. Rather it be just like the top of Scareglow's scroll. Course I wouldn't like the price of that thing either.

Though I really grew to love the 200x line, the castle sucked out loud. I hated it!
The one in the 200x cartoon was an order of magnitude better than the toy and even it sucked. The classic castle looked best. I liked the asymmetry and the ancient look to the skull.
That pic is a prime example of why I'd personally prefer to have an in-scale Castle Grayskull facia over an out of scale (too small) opening Castle Grayskull playset. Also just making the front of Castle Grayskull with an opening drawbridge would be considerably cheaper to produce, even at the correct scale, than a fully functioning Castle Grayskull playset ever would. Perhaps they could even make a facia that allowed for future expansion pieces to slot into it, if the facia itself proved popular enough, so that you could perhaps eventually grow a playset out of it at a later date...
I think a lot of this has been said already, but personsally, I think 200x is maybe better if you are going for scale, but the 1980s version is far better for overall appearance. The 200x version just looks so flat and characterless to me compared with the original.
And as this is a classic-orientated line*, I just think it makes more sense to go with the original version.
* - please note: that is not intended to kick off yet again the "what are the infleunces in MOTUC" debate![]()

Even with the just front, with tooling and the limited run, the castle is gonna be over $100 maybe even closer to $200 since theres quite a bit of tooling that would go into it. I don`t see it being feesable in the least until this line hits retail. The MOTUC Castle Grayskull as it stands now is the box King Grayskull Came in

I think the Amaro castle is probably the closest in terms of capturing the "Spirit Of Grayskull", and certainly the closest in terms of scale. However it still has some nitpicks that bother me. I think the "cheek" areas of the skull are too full, and look awkward. The fangs are also still way too long. But seeing it with the door as in the pic below is very cool and inspiring.
