i'll agree. they should have ENDED with a movie. anything after that doesnt have the BANG the movie would have had since the tv show didnt have the budget the movie had.

well i love the mythology AND the one off episodes of fringe however you are dead on for the xfiles.

the mythology for xfiles just got so convoluted as it went on since they extended farther than the creator and actors wanted it to go on. around season 5-6 is when it should have ended....sigh....

If Jack Bauer was on Lost, everything would have been solved in 24 hours!

If Jack Bauer was on Heroes, he wouldn't need to save the cheerleader to save the world.

In other words, you don't watch because it IS similar to x-files, or because it does some things different then x-files?

    Mostly due to the former.

I can see how someone who didn't like X-Files could be turned off by Fringe. They are VERY similar shows in tone, style and appearance. Yes they treat the existence/acknowldegment of paranormal or "fringe" topics very differently, but the rest of the trappings are of the same ilk.

I like Fringe much more than X-Files, but its far too inconsistent to be a favorite for me. For every episode I love, there are at least 3 or 4 that I think are just OK or even a bit tedious.

I'm definitely a fan! X-Files is my all time favorite live-action show (MOTU is #1, of course). Fringe is similar, but not quite as good. Joshua Jackson cannot compare to David D. and Gillian Anderson was the bomb!! I recently rocked out season one on dvd, but I missed the beginning of season 2. My plan is to pick up season 2 on dvd and try to get caught up for season 3 next year. I hope the ratings stay strong so it keeps going!!

HOLY ()@$^(*!!!! is all i can type nicely.

this was a GREAT episode. there are still plenty of mysteries but they gave us a HUGE chunk of mythology AND it was compelling!.

I still think that Walternate is the big bad behind all of the attacks on our universe because his son was stolen and this is him lashing out and trying to get his peter back(ok that sounds kinda bad).

i think that if not this year then next year Walternate will reunite with Peter and offer him the chance to come back and join him or stay and die with Walter.

Walternate! LOL, I love it! I didn't even think about that, but your theory TOTALLY makes sense!! I hope that turns out to be true, that would be awesome!

Resurrecting this thread from the grave!

I got the first two seasons on Blu-Ray and tore through them in a couple weeks. Love this show! I'm all caught on season 3 now. It's interesting the way they are alternating episode to episode from universe to universe. Sad it's going on a month-long hiatus for sports after the next episode though.

No! I've been waiting forever for it to get back! AHH!

Anyway, I love it too. I love how our universe gets the blue intro and the alternate universe gets the red. My parents didn't catch onto that until I pointed it out.

Mom went: how do you know which universe they're in?

I explained about the themes...and I said "or you just read in they are in New York or Boston."

I love Fringe and Anna Torv (She's Nariko in Heavenly Sword for PS3...the main character in voice, motion capture and appearance).

The 3rd season has been GREAT so far.

I truly hope they get to season 5 as they have the series plotted out to it and I would hate to get screwed out of a full story.

Does anyone else think the season is going to end with Peter or someone wired in that contraption like Rogue at the end of X-Men? I thought last season would end that way when we saw the blue prints, but I was a fool to think they'd move that fast.

yeah i think that is the end game of the season. I bet the machine will start to meld the 2 universes together and that is how it will end for the season.

Peter's sure to end up in the contraption at some point. I do wonder where they'll go with it though. A lot of people think they might make some sort of merge. Not sure about that one though.

I hope things start to move quicker. I don't like Other Olivia. I want our Olivia back. Other Olivia is a stone cold ****** out to kill everyone. You think she would know our world isn't out to kill hers by spending time and working in the field she does. It bothers me.

BTW, I just finished watching the entire run of X-Files. And yes, in season 9, there is an episode about parallel universes in which the main characters (Doggett and Reyes) have counterparts. I turned to my wife (who watches Fringe) and said, "Hmmm... where do you suppose I have seen this before?"

I LOVE this show and is currently my favorite scripted show on tv. However, I am sad since it is getting poor ratings and may not get renewed for next year which means like all my fave shows it will end on a clifhanger

The show has gotten a lot better since the beginning.

BTW, it's the #1 show on Friday for it's target audience. Adults between 18-49 yrs. old. I don't think it's going to get canceled any time soon.
