It's my intent to stick it out to the end, barring any financial crisis (which could occur any moment). I'm interested in new characters as much as old, as long as they're done 'right' (Draego Man is a fine exmple of the sort of figure I'd miss out on if I limited myself to 'classic' characters)
I survived the 2013 sub ordeal!

This opens up a new question. Several people have said they will be picking figures until the end, which suggests to me that cherry-picking could be becoming the new black. So is the relevant question "sub or not?"

I like the Vintage stuff and some concept characters like Demo-Man and Vikor, and I also want some minicomic characters. But my stance on POP and NA hasn't changed at all since I started collecting. I still don't like them.

With the sub hassles this year and the inevitable reduction in Vintage characters, I am more likely to abandon the sub (I've subbed for three years) and return to buying figures I want on sale days. I haven't made a final decision on this yet, but I'm going to have to be wowed by a lot of good reveals.

So at this stage I anticipate staying with the line until its demise, but I very much doubt I'll buy everything.

    Nice Game of Thrones reference.

I'll probably be collecting until the end of the line, but I also don't buy every figure.

i'm glad someone made this thread. been thinking about this for awhile. here's my drop dead list:

    Mekaneck - coming soon!!!
    Ram Man
    Two-Bad
    Mantenna
    Modulok
    Mosquitor - coming soon???
General Rattlor (hopefully more based on 200x)
    Tung Lashor
    Sssqueeze
    200x Sorceress

once i have those, i'll back way off and cherry pick a lot more. i'd also love to have these:

    Stridor
    Ice Armor He-Man (from 200x)
The giants from 200x (Azdar, Belzar, Chadzar)

    Mekaneck
    Mosquitor
    Ram Man
    Two bad
    Mantenna
    Horde Trooper
    Multi Bot
    Modulok
Possibly the Two Bad twins split
And the cherries on top? battle Ram The castle and pipe dream at best but Slime Pit. I have no care for POP or NA. More Hey look new outfit he man and skele..meh..Well ok one..Love the idea of a new Dragon Blaster Skeletor, And I wouldn't mind some comic or other revisions of some. Flesh tone Man e, Green Trap jaw, Might even be jazzed about a filmation looking clawful.

At this point the set in stone price hike, pointless 30th ann figures so far and so on has just watered it down and kinda ruined things for me.
So yeah..not a ton of figures left for me. And unless the sub exclusive is gold and diamonds I will be picking the cherries this year. Little extra price but better than getting packages each month that don't interest me.

I hope the line lasts forever and everyone gets who they want. But I am not picking up stuff that I just don't care about. I have 2 subs for the rest of this year and am happy to say i have homes for anything I don't want from them. Dealing with some great guys there.

Good luck Matty..I hope you know what your doing with the prices and so on.

I'm done with the sub after this year. I will still cherry-pick figures here and there in 2013, but I don't want another 2 or 3 pack of figures I don't want.

My absolute must haves are to complete the Evil Horde, Skeletor's Evil Warriors, and the Snake Men.

My most wanted that are not in those immediate categories would be:

    Batros, Extendar, and Ram-Man

Once I get all those, I would probably cherry pick the rest if the subs got too expensive and QC issues remained.

I do want all the dinos, dioramas, and playsets I can get, but I am not holding out too much hope that we are going to get everything we want.

I don't understand - or like - this whole hostage thing.

It doesn't ring true for me. If Rammy came next week - or in 3 years - I am not going to be buying anything extra from the POP or NA universes of bland, so Mattel are not getting any more money out of me stretching it out.

If you like certain figures and not others - all Mattel are doing is delaying me paying them from those figures certain. They're certainly not going to win me over on something else.
I guess the idea is that with Mattel holding back Ram Man, you will keep looking at the various selections of new figure reveals (NYTF, SDCC, etc.) hoping that Ram Man is announced. If you see someone other than Ram Man that you have to get, then that marketing plan has worked. People have a habit of decrying one thing on the internet and then getting won over later. It happened with the New Adventures figures that so many fans automatically assumed were going to be terrible.

    When they make Modulok.

I'll be here until Mattel stops making them or the prices (or shipping costs) become to much to handle.

after the next price increase. $20 a figure is premium. $22 for a figure is too high. plus shipping? nah. done after the next hike.

I'll keep buying what they make regardless of price especially if they venture into brand new figure territory again. Heck, I never had the NA figures growing up so they already feel like new figures to me and are turning out to be my favorites so far - along with Bow, Vikor, and Demo-man. Go figure. I love the vintage stuff, but there's something about all new figures that taps into that kid inside me. Love it all. Long live MOTUC.

unfortunately matty's CS has already done it for me. I read and saw that UPS shipping is back though, maybe if shipping gets back to reasonable times, and CS improves drastically i can think about getting into MOTUC yet again

When will MOTUC be done for you?

At the end of the year as I have no intention to renew.

Being an international subscriber has been a nightmare.

I'd like to say that I'd be done once the 'vintage' MOTU have been offered, but who the hell am I kidding; Mattel will milk my teats for roughly 30 Filmation characters when all is said and done. Do you think that after being 'weaned' on characters like Lizardman, Shokoti, and The Tingler that I'm NOT going to be buying them??

As for my wife, well, thats a different story. She wants it all. She will be the one, in 2021, thats buying multiples of 'Samurai Battle Grip Twistoid'.

    Long live MOTUC!

I guess I'm in until the end, but that sounds kinda weird since I've recently gone from a completist to a veeeeeery picky cherry-picker.

    done with the line

Unfortunately I think my finances tell me I'm done the end of this year. It's just costing too much, too many things you have to buy with a sub.
The dramatic price increase they have been talking about will surely hit a dent in people buying subs, so I hope greedy mattel goes under for the greed, this is an adult collector line, most of us don't have unlimited money for all the figures their coming out with. So I say either go back to one figure a month with a couple bonus ones or end the line.
