    2002 He-Man Intro

I am Adam, Prince of Eternia and defender of the secrets of Castle Grayskull. This is Cringer, my fearless friend. Fabulous...

I'm guessing they cut off the rest of the lines from the opening of the original 1983 cartoon series in the opening of the 2002 cartoon series to imply that evil can strike whenever, unannounced, and you better be prepared to stop what you're doing and take action. Life waits for no one. Less talk, more action.

i thought to 2002 version was great cause instead of trying to set up the story and which characters know who he-man really is or what villians he fights. right off the bat in the intro you are thrown into the fray. and i love that. and the snakeman intro was great. little foreshadowing in the snakeman intro but no one really noticed.

I think it may have had to do with legalities with Filmation, I know they did recording the entire Adam opening, it`s on the dvd extra`s but Filmation originally wrote that so that`s my guess Your assumption is pretty cool too

Guys, sense of humour check here; didn't you get that it was maybe a tongue-in-cheek reference back to the intro of the original show?

I think they just ended up doing it that way to both keep the intro short (it would have been a lot longer with the full speech, thus leaving less time for the actual episode) and as a nod/joke to the original.

They actually did record the lines for the full thing. In one of the extra features on either Vole 1 or 2 of the 200X series on DVD, you see Cam Clarke (voice of He-Man/Adam) recording the lines.

I actually put together a video a while back for a Chicago Horde event. I put just the opening segment on youtube. There's kind of a joke at the beginning, then it goes into what would basically be a 200X version of the original opening (I used the audio from the extra features to complete the thing) with the Filmation theme song used over it.

I enjoyed the new intros with a nod the old show. I think they did it to show this would be similar but way more intense than the older one.

The intro continued uninterrupted on the VHS that came packed with figures at Walmart ("Intro to Eternia" I think was the name). If there were legal issues with reusing the Filmation monologue, they didn't stop them from using the lines at least for that release. I agree with Dagar that it was more of an in-joke, but it was probably in part for a lot of other reasons like pacing and showing off the action. I think losing the exposition made it an inferior intro for people new the mythology, but I guess few shows bother with intros like that anymore.

Wow, Dynamo, even just using the classic music makes for a better intro in my book, but that really makes for a more satisfying piece! I love it! Wish that there was 200X era She-Ra stuff to go with it (though not the way MYP apparently intended to do it).

You referring to "World of He-Man"? (available on VHS and on DVD Volume 1)

I like my take on it better. It would make sense when you think about it.

    What was it then?

But the one that came to life in one of the last episodes was Serpos.
