    Answers to WTFWTK 2.19!

Toyguru has once again provided answers to your questions.
Check out his answers to your Round 19 questions!

    -------------------

    1. Are fans likely to see a cardbord fold out Crystal Castle and/or Snake Mountain with future exclusive figures, or as an extra item to buy on Mattycollector?
Not anytime soon. Right now we are putting all our energy into developing out the best 6” figures possible.

    2. Will Mattel be celebrating 2002 MOTU's 10th anniversary in 2012?
Right now we’re focused on 2009.

    3. Is there any chance of characters from other Mattel brands making their way into MOTUC, like Hasbro has done with GI Joe by adding Matt Trakker from M.A.S.K?
No. MOTU Classics will only feature characters from the world of He-Man and She-Ra.

    4. If each figure continues to sell out quickly, will Mattel consider offering two figures in the same releasing date? This way we can get more characters in less time and save on shipping as well.
For months when we have a “bonus” figure,” whether a repaint or a reissue, it will go on sale the same day as a standard figure of the month.

    5. How many new figures will debut at the 2009 SDCC show?
We are still deciding which figures will be shown, but at least six will be at Comic-Con as well as Battle Cat.

    6. Any updates on the collection of classic mini-comics in a book?
This is not a project currently being developed.

    7. What percentage of figures are sold to US residents versus international residents, and what countries buy the most MOTUC figures?
It is Mattel’s policy not to disclose sales figures.

    8. Due to the economic instability right now in the US and other countries, will Mattel offer something like a three or four-figure subscription feature and/or a way to cancel a subscription? It could prove detrimental to some fans to be locked into a commitment if something unforeseen were to happen like a job loss.
No, unfortunalty because production will be based on the pre order subscriptions we can not offer a cancelation option. Once you purchase a subscription you are locked in.

    9. What is the status on any merchandising for MOTUC? Anything fans should be on the lookout for?
We will be issuing new figures every month on Mattycollector.com! If anything new pops up beyond this we will be sure to let everyone know.

    10. Is there a chance that subscriptions will force a sellout before the figure actually goes on sale? Please clarify if Mattel will be producing a set quantity regardless, or a set quantity + the subscription orders.
We will be producing above and beyond the subscription base to ensure all fans have a chance to purchase.

Brilliant !!! When they say, they are still deciding........means, it must not be the next 6 figs + BC ( Sep, Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb ) ? It could be also, for example, Nov 2009, Dec 2009, Jan 2010, Apr 2010, July 2010, Oct 2010 ?

But anyway.........6 figs are better then just 5 or 4......

Here ya go AJ, San Diego Comic Con will be July 23rd through July 26th. This year, they aren't even selling tickets at the door. Pre-order only. By the time I got online to get a pass, Fri & Sat were all sold out! I'm only gonna be able to go on Thur. Does anybody know if the exclusives are sold each day?

Yeah, these answers don't have the optimistic/upbeat feeling as some of the previous WTFWTK sessions.

The part about us seeing at least 6 new figures gave me a happy, though.

"Right now we are focused on 2009"? They have The Faceless One plotted out for May 2011.

The biggest news here is the 6+ figures and Battle Cat at the con. That's half a year of MOTUC figures! The forums are going to be a madhouse that weekend.

I wouldn't be surprised if the 6 figures turned out to be the remainder of 2009:
    Webstor + Teela + the 2 yet-unannounced figures + 2 bonus figures.

6 figures shown at the Con?! That awesome! I also hope that it would be in addition to Webstor and Teela. One out of the six might be Teela however, we havent actually seen her painted, have we? All I know about is the unpainted prototype that was shown a couple months back. BTW, I just noticed that March in Italian is Marzo....Could he be the 2010 March release?!
Man, I wish I could go to this Con...

So I guess we won't have Blackstar in MOTUC nor any Bravestarr or New Texas references in Rio Blast's bio.

It really didn't make a difference, but I could actually see Rio Blast coming from Bravestarr, since I think he's a better fit for that property than MOTU.

It irks me to see questions like #8, let alone Matty taking the time to answer questions like this. I know times are tough for some, but how do you expect businesses to thrive when people have this "bailout" mentality for everything.

My guess is we see Webstor, Battle Cat, Teela plus one each of He-Man and Skeletor variant (probably Battle Armor), and then maybe 2 other figures.

Oh a guessing game of what those six will be? Sweet!
I'd post my guesses here, but I'll wait for the real thread to start... If it hasn't already...

    This bums me out.

Also, I agree with the other posters that said that the answers were a bit dismissive and short. While I was reading them I got the idea that the questions were a nuisance or something.

So let me get this straight - at least 6 figures will be shown at the con (they could possibly have more to show), which is in July. And the subscriptions for 2010 go on sale in August? So, we will be able to see 3 figures for 2010's subscription (assuming that 3 of them are Oct, Nov, & Dec of 2009 and they're including Teela). My guess is that whether or not they show more is actually dependent upon whether they're ready to be even shown.

I hope they show as many as they possibly can so people can have as good an idea as possible of what they're going to be locked into buying.

Unless I'm completely wrong about the subscription sale date.

Not a very informative Q & A, and all the answers read in a very harsh and abrupt tone (IMO)! Maybe it was a different person answering them this time but there was a definite I don't wan't to be answering these questions tone, which has wound me up a little bit. But good news about the 6 figures (especially if Teela and Webstor don't count in that number) and battle cat being shown at SDCC. Hopefully She-Ra or Princess Adora will be one of those figures.

I`m actually glad of this answer because now the hundreds of dollars I spent to get a complete almost mint condition set of mini comics will not be for nothing. I`ve noticed over the last few Qand A`s that the answers have been dismissive also

The answers definitely sound dismissive. But to be fair, it also seems that the questions (or at least the selection of questions) are put together in a way that is asking Matty for a lot more than what they have already promised or definitely said they were going to do. From this perspective, the questions are greedy and off-base.
