    Mattel AttiTUBES Discussion!

Back from my one day at comic con and I took a picture of the new Mattel MOTU AttiTubes that they had on display. I have seen little to no discussion on them so I decided to post a thread. They look similar to the Might Mugs from other lines. Kind of cute I think, What do you all think?

I think they would go well with a MOTU themed display. I really am digging the Webstor and Merman.

I think Orko needs to lose the feet though.

I don't know, he would look kind of wierd without the feet.

I wonder if they are hollow or what the deal is. Maybe we will learn tommorow!

LOVE the 'tubes, and I hope they make them and that we get a bunch of characters. Some people aren't down with the look, but I love 'em.

And I totally agree that Orko shouldn't have feet. When has Orko ever had feet? I also think they should flip his body upside down. I did a mock-up on photoshop of what I'm talking about. I already posted it in another thread, but it got completely ignored, so I'll post it again here. Don't be afraid to comment on it if you don't like it, I have thick skin.

Yeah thats a bit how I would invision it. I think perhaps a little more tapered out at the bottom would be fine for Orko. Honestly he'd be the only character that would really require that and they could just make the bottom more like a base of a cone.

You know, I'm just not into the stylized vinyl toys in general. But I would have a hard time not buying that Webstor if it were to be released. Not sure why, but I just love it!
Photog is here! thank you, Mattel!

Now how about some mini-comics love (like Lodar, Geldor, Dakon......)? And Mermista?

I for one and VERY THANKFUL that Mattel is making something like these "Attitubes", of which I have ABSOLUTELY NO DESIRE TO BUY at all! That's money I don't have to spend! THANKS MATTEL FOR MAKING THESE!

When I first saw the pictures of these I thought they were small like Lego figures or Super Hero Squad. But when I saw them in person I realized they are the size of Mighty Muggs.

I have zero interest. Mattel can push this one under the rug for all I'm concerned.

Really? You'd deny the people who do like them, just because you don't?

Here's another manipulated shot of Orko for comparison.

Can't stand Might Muggs, can't stand MotU AttiTUBES either. Total waste of money for me.

But I understand that many are into that current trend, and I'd hope that these would perform well. And I'm glad that I can save money for stuff I care about.

I hate them, and this whole "urban vinyl" trend. I hope the fad dies soon. You can include block style Legoesqe figures with 'em.

I think they are really cute. I especially like Orko with the legs. As long as they don't come out the same month as Battle Cat or Panthor, I will get them. I would like to see He-Man, Skeletor, etc. in this style.

I've never been into the whole Mighty Muggs thing. I really never understood the appeal. There's only ever been a couple of Mighty Muggs that I actually thought looked kind of cool, and even then it wasn't enough to get me to buy them.

Webstor and Mer-Man look kind of neat, but still, I really have no interest. If these things only cost 50 cents a piece (which they won't), then maybe I would consider buying a few of them... but even then it's not certain.

I guess the fact that Mattel is venturing into areas such as this is a good sign for MOTU overall, though. So, in that sense I like it. It helps spread the brand around, and it's one less thing I have to worry about collecting.

I'll pass on these. Like others here I just don't see the appeal of these types of things.

They're alright. I think that the Mighty Mugg is a better design, in terms of a platform vinyl toy. I like the choices of Webstor, Mer-Man, and Orko, though.
The thing is that Urban/Designer Vinyl is meant to be all about simplicity and stylish design. This is the bandwagon upon which Mighty Muggs jumped, and did a somewhat decent job of it. The Attitubes shape is ok, but as far as main stream appropriations of vinyl platform toys go, I think that Mez-Its by Mezco and Mighty Muggs are far nicer.

Super-way cool. Almost as cool as Attitubes. J/K it would be cooler than Attitubes, but Attitubes are still righteous.

All you guys are already kilin teh lien and it didn't even start yet. Hopefully Mattel won't put too much weight into the lack of support in this thread.

I'd definitely buy them! It's nice to see Mattel is looking into other MOTU merchandise. Maybe someday we will get classic style He-Ro, Eldor, and other characters too for our 80's collection. I will buy any and all MOTU related merchandise, just like I always have.

    EXACTLY.

Love em or hate em, Mattel has to start pimping out this brand again. look at how many transformers lines and products there are, hell you have at LEAST five separate TF lines that don't even TRANSFORM! all we have are classics? we can have classics, 200X style stactions, full sized statues, urban vinyl, kid friendly cute style figs, an action feature line and more.

    I'll pass.

But it's good that other fans like them and that Mattel is trying to expand the MOTU brand in other ways.

    Cheers.

They’re not bad, but this type of stuff was never my thing.

So I’m probably going to pass on these.
