Great pics Whiplash. Teela looks like she's slipping off Battlecat a bit though. I don't have her in front of me, but is she not able to sit properly? I know she lacks and ab crunch.

Bikini Teela: Hottest version ever!!
Thanks. The lack of an ab-crunch was the big problem. She is actually seated, but I couldn't sit her higher or He-Man would block her b/c of the angle, without her able to bend forward. It could probably be done better but it looked okay to me at the time, lol.
Someone else's attempt

Not really feeling any of this Pre-Filmation stuff.
As it stands, the Green Goddess barely fits into my own personal MOTU canon.
But "evil' Stratos?![]()
"Bounty hunting" Zodac?![]()
Teela, with a "gentle touch?
I'm good on that stuff.![]()
200X Power Sword, 200X Toon, 200X Continuity.... Yeah, it's all about 200X!!
Cool, but I tried to keep mine pose accurate. The more you bend her legs, the less she's able to cross them.
Well that's fine, but Stratos was never evil. It's possible he had been meant for the evil warriors in concept, but it never happened. He's always been a good guy.
I can't say I understand your Teela comment tbh.
What made you change your tune and ignore the mini-comic?

I never changed my tune. Like I said, it's possible--specifically b/c of the two examples there--that he may have been meant as a villain in early (pre-production) concepts. No one knows why he's shown in that artwork from the 1st comic (supposed to be a villain? A mistake was made?), but he was never portrayed as a villain.
If we just want to speculate I say I assumed, since I was a child, that Stratos was still one of Skeletor allies in the first minicomics, but turned against him after Skeletor attacked Avion(in the second minicomics) to take the half of the power sword stucked on the peak of the mountain.
Stratos was never really bad, he only feels, as a worthly opponent to the forces of evil still have to show up, that alligning with Skeletor was the best way to prevent Avion to be invaded by such a too powerfull enemy. Then, the coming of He-man and the attack of Skeletor make him see his mistake and take him to the good guys.
OK with it?

How on earth did I miss this thread all this time! I'm with you guys 100%. Pre-Filmation Alcala Masters all the way!
I have a blond Teela in the works with flexible hair but I'm having trouble matching her skin tone. Anyone know a paint that matches?

The above middle picture of Beast Man is who I've always thought people were referring to when discussing "red-beast"
Until I finally saw Sumo-Bear on a different thread.
Grayskull needs its Cardboard Spacesuit MOTUCized
Voice your support in the Cardboard Spacesuit/Robot thread:

I always tought it was this instead:
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
So, maybe we should argue what Beast-man's evolution really was, who was there first? The red Big Jim gorilla or the sumo-bear?
Maybe I'm mistakin' but was really the sketch of Demo-man green painted? I don't remember why but I guessed Demo-man was blue-skinned...

So I just now discovered this thread. I'm all for Pre-Filmation. I know I had some of the Golden Books when I was younger, and those definitely helped frame my view of Eternia. I can remember having my He-Man need both halves of the sword to open the drawbridge to the castle.
Finally, I've got my DC Comics/Minicomic Skeletor!
He goes along with my DC Comics/Minicomics He-man
Wait, did I say gets along?
Laughably that's 5 figure parts there. Skeletor is Keldors body, 2 pack head and armor, and re-issues sword, while He-man is the 2 pack body with Goddess He-man armor on him.

For those who obsessively track down pre-Filmation merchandise, I want to add that the Swedish MotU boardgame uses the original four mini-comics as a basis (no green goddess though).
And no, this game is not the same as the US-released board game. This one was licensed and constructed by swedish game manufacturer Alga. More specifically by Swedish RPG and game constructor extraordinaire Dan Glimme.
Hope this is of interest to someone.
Are there pictures somewhere?
This game is pretty pre-filmation too, although one of the squares had Orko on it.
Oh yes, Board Game Geeks has a feature on it. Very brief, but it does have pictures.

The game illustrations ape (or outright trace) Alcala's drawings.
The game is actually quite fun, if simplistic.
Cool, thanks. Seeing it, I probably would have loved it back then, lol.
I remember seeing it advertised a bit. I love the fact that it has "roleplaying" aspects and a sword & sorcery style. Since Glimme's other games are fantasy theme, it is safe to say the fantasy setting appealed to him! Despite being released in 1984, it is clearly pre-Filmation, and had probably been in production since before the cartoon.
I own DC Comics Presents (1978 DC) #51 which also mentions Masters of the Universe on the cover
and it is also pretty neat to have because the 1st story; "From Eternia with Death!" is in DC Comics Presents (1978 DC) #47 released in July 1982!
I also have the insert separately that I took out of "Supergirl (1982 2nd Series) #1" since the comic was really cheap for only $1.40
This is what I know for sure where the preview insert is included;
-- DC Comics from November 1982 --
THESE TITLES COME WITH THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE - PREVIEW INSERT: "Fate Is the Killer!"
Action Comics (1938 DC) #537 [ALSO MENTIONS Masters of the Universe ON COVER!]
