Panthor: To flock? Or not to flock?

    That is the question!

I've been vocal about not being a fan of flocking. But I recognize many are, and that's cool.

In my opinion, flocking works on Moss Man, he's mossy, flocking looks mossy.
But for Panthor, the sculpt is already a nice fur texture, and thus doesn't need a redundant coat of flock on top of it. But that's me. What do you want?

Toyguru asked at SDCC who wants Panthor flocked? I was there, and one of the few that voted for no flocking, but I wasn't alone.

So here's the poll, cast your vote!
I expect flocking to be popular because I'm convinced nostalgia is a drug to the brain as powerful as substances that aren't necessarily legal in most countries.

But for Panthor, do we really need it?

I don't mind sayin', my vote was the thrid option, let Matty release two versions of him! More money to be made, and everyone is happy.

I too, think the third option is the way to go...give everyone a choice, and die hard completeists will probably end up buying one of each. I do think they could probably make more flocked than unflocked though. Honestly, I think he would look cool either way. I'd probably buy both.

It's a win-win for Mattel and the fans.

I know it's early, but I'm surprised flocking isn't taking a bigger lead!

Now I'm shocked that so many just want him one way or the other, not both!

    Flocked, all the way.

I think the flocking gives him a very unique look, rather than a repainted Battle Cat duplicate.

Since chosen to have both (or to chose just when you order) is industrially impossible, I prefer vote for a non flocked Panthor.
But I doubt the sculpt will be different from Cringer... or maybe the head only.
The body will be the same with different colors.
Of course I would prefer a totally new sculpt but we know it will be the same tools.

If he's not flocked he should at least feel like velvet/felt, a solid plastic version with a sculpted fur would not be that cool. IMO

I donīt want a flocked Panthor. On Moss man the flocking was really necessary and it made the figure look great, but well he is made of moss so the flocking goes well with him.
Iīve never been a fan of Panthor because of his flocking, I think with a scary and terrific big cat the sculpted fur would go really better and make him look more agressive than the flocking.
Sincerely I donīt know what Mattel was thinking back in the 80īs when they decided to flock Panthor, I think it wasnīt a great idea.

I want real fur plucked from a live leopard, not a dead one(totally against it!) and then dyed purple.

I'm 100% flocked but if I were Matty I would do both.

    Flock that kitty!
Not to sound like a creepy cheerleader for Uki, but it's nice to know there is at least one person on this forum who is extremely positive & friendly all the time. I don't think I could be that nice even if you paid me. If we ever give out awards for "forum member of the month", Uki gets my vote. -Mr. Shokoti

The original Panthor and 200x Panthor were probably easy to flock, but after the things happening with Moss-Man I can't see him being flocked.

I haven't read up on Moss Man. What problems are they having? How can a toy company in the 80's flock their figures yet in a day of age of being able to fly to work with my rocket pack we can't figure out how to flock figures any more?
