They look great.
I especially love Scare Glow!![]()
A thread to showcase my warm-up sketching especially since I want to learn to clean up my "rough" line work some without utilizing no-line-weight paths all the time (a somewhat renewed interest as I have been working on some demonic tiki-styled character art for a bit now)
Lord Necrovus doesn't "really" count as he was drawn up and coloured awhile back and I think he took me a bit longer as I was just doodling with no intention of going anywhere.
Regardless, he IS the beginning of this little thread in that he is the villainous leader of the Forsaken (which is more so a bootleg MOTUC design as my brother and I have toyed with the idea of creating a small and diverse universe strongly based on the basic concepts and looks of MOTU.)) All these should fit right in with the MOTU(C) mythos especially since I will also include some regular characters (in both pictures and/or story ie. Scare Glow.)
Please note that some pictures won't be 100% complete as my time limit is a self-set to the 30 min. mark. Heavily inspired by a deviantart artist.
Next up is his typical MOTU inspired mount. War Wolf! Very MOTU inspired
Lastly for today is Scare Glow. I just did him up this morning. I felt he would fit in perfectly. Summoned from the Forsaken Realm by Skeletor, he helps free his Lord Necrovus and some fellow minions. Not sure why I didn't include his weapon... his face/skull is inspired by a pic I found on DeviantART and saved to the computer so credit to the artist.
[EDIT] - Inspiring artist has been named! He is known as Derek Fridolfs (dfridolfs on DeviantArt) Thanks to the RAW for the reminder.

Ah o thats how you've been doing it. Interesting to see how differently you use flash to colour than I do. I like the looseness of the linework a lot.

I really like the look of War Wolf...but then considerign my username it should be obvious I like wolves.
Scareglow and Lord Necrovus look good as well.
Hmm I might try using flash myself to draw some pics, just have to remember where I put the CD
Wow, that Scare Glow looks pretty cool. Like you style!
Great style and color technique! I really love that War Wolf!!![]()
Looking for a reasonable price for Fangman and maybe king He-man and Strobo.
I just... oh wow if those are your 'warm ups' I really need to see your 'real' stuff.![]()
I like the concept of Lord Necrovus ... even if the legs seems to me too small![]()

This is awesome, Sllohcin! I think the line work is very nice, a very controlled rough look. You have a great range with your styles!
Necrovus reminds me a little of Hordak (not in a bad way) with the vampiric elements, a really good villain. With the wolf hound steed, I'm reminded of Ceres from the UK comics (leader of the Dogs of War). Have you considered using that concept in your MOTU-inspired concept? I wish I had a picture of him, but it's been a while.
Amazing as always man!

SLUSH HEAD FINALLY SHOWED UP IN MOTUC YAY!!!
Very nice. I like your mixture of styles.
Thanks everybody!
No clue! Never heard or seen it before but it does sound interesting.
Okay peoples of the net, here's another character/sketch. I dislike that my lines seem to be getting thicker but maybe it's just this time... I don't know. I'm also trying to add a "little" movement into my work so an arm and some shifted weight is better than nothingNo cleaner lines yet
Anyway, he's a Black Knight-esque creation of which I could see him being armed with a huge sword or axe and shield.
I don't have a smart and punny name for him but he'd fit in as another Necrovus elite minion. Maybe he's a living suit of armour?... no real idea so any suggestions would be fun

Hey good stuff man. You should call that guy Arm-or... eh maybe not![]()
These sketches ae carrying the true spirit of MOTU.
I love the design, man!
These are wicked man! Lots of energy goin on!
Really like War Wolf.
The way Flash has translated the line art is great. Is that 30 mins in total or just the clean up of the vectors?

Thanks all
@Eamon - Yeah, 30 min. max for everything. I draw it up in FLASH and then export the lines and quickly colour in Photoshop (all tablet.) I'm sure to have each colour on a different layer to allow for quick colour changes to achieve something somewhat cool and pleasing to the eye. No cleaning up anything. The mess you see is the mess I create.
I actually use a little timer tooSo far I haven't hit the 30 min. mark but this guy brought me pretty close.
Spectaculars!! Always love your style!![]()

I expect just by using the brush tool. I don't use flash all that often but i seem to remember the brush having a tablet weight setting. It's quite cool as it gives you freedom to sketch but also auto corrects your curves a little.

i've tried... but it always come outs rubbish![]()
It's the tablets pressure sensitivity. Press harder to create thicker lines and lighter to have thin ones. I set the "curve" at 15 so there isn't really any correction at all. A quick line stroke works the same as having it correct it for you except that the line stays where you meant it to be versus "fixing" it for you. I have been playing with it for some time in regards to sketching but I can't seem to use it for any "finished" works as I'm not, as of yet, capable of trning out a crisp image. It's just my on-the-go canvasFunny enough, I actually use the eraser tool like a brush almost 50% of the time
You've all seen my pencil line work, it's always been very, very clean. I'm not great at throwing some life into my work save for facial expression so this is helping some. I'm trying to work in movement for the overall piece instead of assembling a mass of "posed" body parts.
Baena actually hooked me up with the idea as he uses it sometimes. I had never used it before or even knew I could sketch in it nutil he told me so.
