Filmation premiere episodes: The Greatest Adventures of All & Skeletor's Revenge

    Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knew who (if anyone) currently has legal ownership of the two classic "MotU" specials, "The Greatest Adventure of all" and "Skeletor's Revenge"? I seem to remember it being stated that Entertainment Rights, who currently owns the rights to all 130 episodes, of the classic "MotU", All 93 episodes to "PoP", all 65 episodes to "NA", as well as "SOTS", and "A Christmas Special", but do not have the legal rights to either of the two classic "MotU" specials. Does anyone know if it is Hallmark that still owns these two specials, or is it something that goes back further?

Mattel please, buy the He-Man and She-Ra cartoons from Entertainment Rights. If you owned Both Filmation related "MotU" cartoons, plus "NA" and "MYP" cartoons, you would be able to distribute any or all 4 cartoons to Television in the lead up to another relaunch or a live action movie. Plus, you could include Filmation and "NA" animated characters in "MotU:C"!

    Long Live 'MOTU'!

    Entertainment Rights own them.

However since they were not handed over to them as digi betas by Hallmark the legality of them is up in the air. Same with the Orko vase scene from Diamond Ray of Disapearance.

Basically ER can't be bothered with the hassle of looking into the ownership.
Most wanted Filmation style MOTUC figures:

Hunga the Harpy, Webstor, Kobra Khan, Leech, Grizzlor, Mantenna, Rattlor, Catra Cat Form, Ram Man, Count Marzo, King Miro, Twiggets, Frosta, Kothos and Admiral Scurvy.

    Hey Neil,

Thank you for replying. That is a real shame. I think these would sell well on DVD, die hards like me who have to have everything would be all over them, and for those who just want a few "MotU" DVDs, they would not be in the same price range as the larger half season box sets. I hope if the classic DVDs keep selling well things change.

Skeletor's Revenge and The Greatest Adventures of All

    I'm confused here...

Which 3 episodes of season 1 of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe make up The Greatest Adventures of All?

Which 3 episodes of season 2 of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe make up Skeletor's Revenge?

Why exactly was this done this way?

Were they actually released on VHS this way, ever? Were the episodes fused togther?

Was this like how the first 5 episodes of She-Ra were from Secret of the Sword?

They were VHS releases of episode-collections.

To make them more entertaining, Filmation went that extra step to produce new animation to have a bridge between the episodes.

    The Greatest Adventures of All
showcased the Sorceress narrating between episodes

    Episodes are from season 1
    "Diamond Ray of Disappearance"
    "Teela's Quest"
    "Colossor Awakes"

    Skeletor's Revenge
Had Skeletor talking to Evil-Lyn and Beastman about new characters showing up to help He-Man, and what new villains he would recruit. (this one has lot of great expressionistic animation with Skeletor)

    Episodes were from season 2
    "The Day of Machines"
    "The Cat and the Spider"
    "Trouble in Trolla"

Wow, I just recalled watching these once! I can't find a picture of the cover of Skeletor's Revenge.

Do you think these will ever be released on DVD?

Yes, sort of. PM me and I can hook you up in that department. Jukka's screen grabs I believe are from my DVD transfer.

Oh, man. I would loved to see these. I don't remember if I ever saw them. However, if these were aired during the regular run of episodes then I probably did and just don't remember. I'm really surprised they were never released on dvd.

They weren't released on DVD because that extra footage wasn't digitized or saved by Hallmark when they transferred the library. And ER wouldn't let us use any footage that they didn't possess from the purchase of the library.

I have these on ancient VHS.

The episodes from "The Greatest Adventures of All" were of the first three broadcast episodes.

Also to note is that a couple of animation mistakes were corrected for these releases.

Do Classic Media have copies of The Greatest Adventure of All and Skeletors Revenge?

After reading The Unofficial Guide, I got to wanting to see these 2 specials, and started wondering if CM had copies of these, and if so, could these be released on DVD. Also, is there anyone apart from me who'd like to see this?

I'd like to see them too, in normal quality and especially Skeletors revenge (cuz I haven't seen that one at all).

Here's the footage from Greatest Adventure of All:
Brings doom to MOTUC with cel accuracy.

It's strange - Those two specials have never appeared to have been part of the library...

I know for a fact that Lou Scheimer has masters of those in his personal library - To this day I'm not sure why BCI only sourced the "I Have The Power" music video from Lou and not the two specials...even though I asked them to...

It's a shame, because while "The Greatest Adventures Of All" has a wonderful sense of magic about the Sorceress scenes, the "Skeletor's Revenge" segments feature THE best animation ever seen to grace the He-Man series!

Looking for Skeletor's Revenge and the Greatest Adventures of All

I was skimming the internets about these specials, and lo' and behold Google pointed me right back here! Will wonders never cease?

I own the Greatest Adventures of All VHS and did a DVD conversion of it some time ago with okay, but not great, results. I don't think I've ever even seen Skeletor's Revenge, however. In one of the threads Jukka posted some screencaps and indicated they were from a DVD conversion Toyjesus did of both specials. I attempted to reach Toyjesus regarding these caps some months ago, but never heard back from him.

I know there are cheap VHS copies to be had online, but am looking to see if there are some nicely cleaned up digital copies around. In any event, I would love to see these old specials in the best quality possible once again (and for Skeletor's Revenge, for the first time!). Is there anywhere to watch them online?

    Thanks!

Are they not the same rights since it is the same show and was released on vhs? It is the only way it seems to see the complete Diamond ray episode, although in the Origin of the Sorceress the vhs was not complete while the dvd was.

To see a full "Diamond Ray of Disappearance" episode, yeah you need to get an old VHS-release.

During the 90s, Hallmark owned the He-Man library of Filmation episodes and they digitized them.
Then they went to Entertainment Rights who released them on DVD with BCI. BCI did all the work for the DVDs and they would have gladly used Orko commercial bumpers from quality VHS-rips and the "Greatest Adventures of All" but they could only use the material that was digitized by Hallmark, which didn't include the VHS-specials or Commercial-bumpers. That's why they are not released in the DVD-releases.
