THat's supposedly what the bonus figures/repaints are about, bringing in money to go into new tooling for new figures.
If those bonuses continue to do well, as did Zodak, Mattel is really going to start running out of reasons not to put some more into the tooling. We were told from the start that new molds depended on sales; sales are beyond what they were expecting. We've gotten some new stuff, like Battle Cat, but always with the re-use possibility front and center. If they want the line to continue to do as well as it has been, they need to start seriously investing more into it the more they make on it. THey can't go on forever with a couple bodies as a base for everything.
"I will use this power for all the good that can be done, to work for peace, to encourage virtue, and above all, to preserve life in all its forms..." Superman
Great Article!
Ditto! On a final note, I’m a little more excited for a character like Extendar that missed out on his 200x chance. He received no updated figure, no staction. In fact, I don’t think I’ve even seen control art for what that might have looked like. Extendar needs some love and he’ll be a great addition to MOTUC. And like I said at the beginning, I’d prefer to get him sooner rather than later.
I guess the other thing is that if we do see a properly done Extendar, then we have the assurance that the line is not running out of steam (aka funding).
Edit: I've created a Facebook page for Extendar fans - http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=204901651670

extension pieces or action feature will be great! just not a standard figure that would be no fun. he may require some special sculpting so it may be in a few years before they make him. Extendar RULES!
Just a quick question .... why was Extendar called Extendar before Hordak did the experiment on him which resulted in his extending powers??????
His mother's name was Extrucia and his father's name was Malendar, and they decided to make his name a combination of theirs. Happens all the time to fictional babies that are destined to become superheroes or supervillains.
WOO! EXTENDAR THREAD BUMP!! MAKE THIS FIGURE PLEASE!!!!
I say this figure will not be made until 2013.
My seller/trader/buyer feedback:

MOTUC Most Wanted: Skeletor's Robot Knights, Two-Bad, Horde Troopers, Modulok, Sssqueeze, Tung Lashor, Stridor, Night Stalker, the Battle Ram, and a true, alternate head for Wun-Dar (since he's a "different" character)!
I love Extendar. He is one of my alltime favourite Motu characters. He was one of the few characters who actually had something of a story arc in minicomics.
Some suggestion how he could be made:
Make an extra "fat" body for him an Ram-Man. This body could be less articulated but therefore allow limb swapping to simulate Extendars powers and also Ram-Man "leg shrinking". Since the body would be used for at least two figures it would cut some costs.
or
Make Extendar part of a giant line with Titus and Megatur. In this case Extendar would be stuck in his stretched form but would also tower impressively over the other figures.

How about this. Extendar uses the common buck with a chest piece/face shield.
I don't need him any fatter than a normal figure, I know the original was but I don't see him losing any cool factor by dropping a couple pounds.
Include a second "extending" head and "extended" arm. They've done the heads already and the arm is being done with Trap Jaw so I know they can do that too.
So he'd have three accessories: Head, Arm, and Shield like the original.

Never figured him to be a very in demand figure..Guess I was wrong.
big geek
My collection would be incomplete without Extendar!Besides, he was missed out in 200x, hopefully we'll see him this time around before Mattel cancels the line.
Automerge test: New group here on the org: MotUC Extendar Fans

Let's show the world that there are more than 2 Extendar fans. Let's send a message to Mattel that we want a MotUC Extendar, done properly, sooner rather than later!
Mission Statement:
1. To show to the world that there are more than 2 Extendar fans.
2. To lobby Mattel to include an Extendar into the MotUC line ASAP.
3. To ensure that a MotUC Extendar is done "properly" - i.e. that he will be able to extend.

Dusting off an old thread here in the hopes of bringing one of my favs back into the discussion...
We have the plan through March of 2011, plus I think 4 females that have been confirmed, and probably one NA, which leaves 4 monthly spots (assuming all the females are monthly spots).
Anyone think Extendar's got a shot this year? He's not an A-List or B-List MOTU figure, so there's no reason to hold out on him for the longevity of the line (like Man-E, Mechaneck and Rammy).
Or maybe he'd work as the SDCC exclusive? Dress that heman statue up in armor, release Extendar with replaceable limbs like the Plasticman exclusive this past year?
NOOOOoooooo!!!! to replacable limbs!
If Mattel release Extendar as the SDCC exclusive - possibly at a higher price point - there is absolutely no excuse to use replacable limbs instead of investing $ into a new sculpt with built-in pull-out/push-in arm extensions!
Crikey! The vintage figure had this feature at same cost as regular figure.
I would like to see Extendar made soon, while the popularity of the MOTUC line is at a peak and there is ample financial and fan support to underwrite the cost of the unique sculpt.
Either way, whether Extendar is SDCC or regular monthly, 2011 or 2012, yes to built-in-extensions ... noooo to plug-ins!

Yes, I want an EXTENDAR action figure!
I finally bought one of the vintage ones on my trip to NYC last July. He's really cool! I'm betting the 4H will do something really special with him!
Etherian Rebel JOSH for the MOTUC (see my avatar)!
I'd love to see the original mechanism, but I don't at all find it likely.
Looking at a MOTUC figure now I think it's not stocky enough to fit extending pieces in the limbs without them being unable to hold the weight of the figure, and being really thin and chintzy. The female heads still bobble after all, I can't imagine what a wiggly nightmare a stretching MOTUC Extendar would be. And I'm not sure I'd necessarily want a larger buck, even if they were willing to do one specifically for him.
Have faith in the 4 Horsemen my friend!
I feel that with the decision to give Roboto moving gears and Man-E a rotating face instead of swapable face-plates, Mattel have realised they cannot skimp on these character essential parts. If we maintain the pressure I think we will get built-in extensions for Extendar.
We just need the factory to pay special attention to the shoulder join to make sure it is snug and can carry the weight of the extended arms.

I agree to Teacher of Madness:
What is action feature worth, if the figure can't stand?
I would pay 5 or 10 $ more, if they do him right...
Last important characters: Two Bad, Tung Lashor, Squeeze, Modulok, Horde Trooper
i'd love to see extendar released in 2011, and i agree with teacher of madness: he could be the next sdcc exclusive, just like plasticman (for dcuc) this year.
i also think that extendar could share many tooling ideas with plasticman indeed
(well, actually i even started a thread about this, but didn't obtain a great success...).
