Go quarterly. The shipping is still absurd but you end up saving a bit.

i went with the monthly.. as shipping will still be 37+ dollars for 4 figs plus the duties on 100.00 bucks which are nuts.. so if i do one figure at 13.69 i would pay no duties

quartly you're saving around 16-17 dollars in shipping but paying much more then that on duties.. man it's a no win situation.

Yeah but if they do any 3 packs or 2 packs along with a regular monthly figure you'll also pay a ton of money that month. I think that's where the real savings would come into play.

agreed, but i can't imagine what they would charge to ship 4 figures plus one large or 2-3 pack.. they charge 13.25 plus an extra 8 and change per figure , each figure after that.. so a 3 pack and 4 figures would be 60+ dollars to ship... i think if i got a bill for 237.00 dollars and duties in the 40-60 dollar range i'd loose it

Haha I hear ya. I was more thinking along the lines of quarterly DHL which is actually cheaper in bulk than Matty's regular BS rates.

Kind of a rock and a hard place either way, I guess.

so Icer cost me $69!!!!!!!!!!! I mistakenly went with DHL and while the figure came fast it was $24 shipping plus another $20 duty plus $25 for the figure!! this is the most expensive MOTUC I've ever bought. I feel violated (the mistake is KIND of my fault, but DHL should NOT be the default shipping choice.. they better fix the shipping for the next figure as this is RIDICULOUS.

On a single figure you should always go international post...they ALMOST always get missed and the shipping rate is much cheaper! It is only better to go the express on 3 or more and largers items.

I go international on EVERYTHING, they cancelled my filmation sub and sent an email to fix it, so I quickly went through all that and didn't double check what shipping ption was selected. (USPS should be standard but for some reason the DHL express option was.) so I just clicked through and only caught the error after it processed, i called and they said they can't change it at that stage, I am NOT keeping DHL, i's waaay too expensive for a single figure. again I take most of the blame, I should have looked, but it shouldn't be the default standard shipping.

    edit

I just got an email saying my filmation sub is cancelled again!! PLUS an email saying my order for Shokoti is confirmed>?!?!?!? what the deuce??

If you changed your shipping method they will have tro cancel and reinstate your sub.

Did you get a breakdown of what the $20.00 was? There is no duty on toys, only HST or GST + PST.

Actually a single figure is 13.75 this year....if the monthly sub is showing up at 13.69...the shipping rate went down by .06.

Remember when you call Matty reps - They can change the shipping on anything in advance...they just don't know they can....they don't know how...they want you off the phone...

I actually think that the DR / Matty 'system' is probably not as bad as we all know...I think the people running it are so bad they make it look terrible.

This is my first time dealing with them outside of exchanging a defective figure - that has always gone smoothly this time I am experiencing the nightmare all say. Thanks for the tip! It seems backwards in this day and age they can't switch shipping. or that they have to cancel a sub to switch it.

    **UPDATE**

So DHL charged me $3 something for duty, $4 something plus HST for CoD charge (really it costs money for the driver to take my money?) and $10 plus HST for the service charge of charging me duty. total came to $19+ RE-FRIGGING-DICULOUS!!

My comic issue #4 arrived yesterday. Any other Canadians receive theirs yet too?

....So, is there anyone near the Washington state border planning on a U.S. toy run to Big Lots?
Looks like that's the only help any Canadian is going to get unless you want to buy the figures for double the cost (or in the case of the 2 packs, 4 times the cost), or pay a $15 'finders fee'.

If there's any reports of MOTUC making their way to NY state, I'll make a trip (we were planning one anyways at some point this summer).

I'm really at a loss here in choosing my sub this year. I'm not sure between the monthly cheapo or quarterly express method. My concern about the quaterly option is will Matty get it right? Will they keep enough stock? Will storing the figures for a few months cause more of them to be damaged? I'm a MOC collector and this kind of worries me.

What does everyone think? Which shipping option did you use?

Same here, I might still go with the monthly cheapo shipping.

I'm going to go with quarterly express most likely, simply because of how DR has chosen DHL for me anyways a couple of times when multiple items have shipped, guaranteeing my customs anyways. I'm also an opener, so damaged cards are of no concern to me while items are held for quarterly shipping.

But if I was a MOC collector like you are Ironman, I'd probably go with monthly to increase the chances of undamaged cards & exchanges, as my one worry with choosing quarterly is remaining CS stock (or lack thereof). Matty has already shown they don't give a damn about that with how they sold all CG men & TOD Sorceresses just a few days after their initial sale date during last year's BF/CM sale.
