Following up with my DHL story...

I went to CBSA today to self-clear. Easy as pie. Because the e-mail for the sub showed the initial charge at 49.20 (because it's including King He-Man), they had to use that as the shipment value. So, all said and done...I paid 4.90 for customs.

Funny if it wasn't so sad........ Just got my pre-order ready to ship from BBTS for a case of 8 figure of series 3 Marvel Legends at $25.39 using their cheapest USPS option (it'll be here in 2 weeks).
That's a couple of bucks cheaper than it would be to ship just 1 Battle Cat from Matty, and I don't have to tell you guys how long it would take.

Okay, so I just got off the phone with DHL. Yes, I can still go to the airport here, get CBSA to stamp my paperwork, they'll forward a copy to DHL in Calgary, and then things can get moving. Most of what I've been reading online has been using self clearing to avoid UPS's ridonkulous customs charges. So that's a consideration too. Apparently UPS generally charges you 50% of the package value to clear.

Unfortunately we're under a blowing snow warning right now, so I won't be heading to the airport anytime soon. But I'll update people to see how much of a hassle it ends up being. I mean, if it saves me $10/month doing this...I guess that's not bad?

I have no idea what is wrong with your DHL out there. Mine delivered it to my door...I paid $20 duty and brokerage, like you do with ANY carrier, including Canada Post. I had it the next day.

I have gotten away with a lot more than 3 figures from Canada Post duty free...on a regular basis. What was the amount of the "brokerage fee" that DHL charged?

I may DHL when a big month comes along...since 3 figures DHL are cheaper than postal.

And that's why I posted here...because I was sure if everyone was having the same problem there'd be a ton of discussion on it. I *think* the problem is they didn't have enough paperwork. I dunno if DR forgot to attach something, or if DHL dropped the ball or what, but Canada Customs rejected the shipment until I personally filled out a Proforma invoice.

Sub Netossa showed up in Tillsonburg yesterday. An amazing design and sculpt...I just have a hard time caring about this figure. I wish someone else would have kicked off the sub since its my first time subbing. Bring on February!

I didn't receive my January sub yesterday but what I did receive is a bill from UPS for a shipment from over 1 month ago (Granamyr). Why would they wait a month and not collect upon delivery last month?

got my netossa yesterday. Im not really liking the new shipping cost...i think this is going to turn off a lot of fans to re-subscribe next year. I wish they would just fix the sweden thing, and maybe our shipping prices will go down

My Granamyr & Procrustus arrived yesterday using the cheapest international shipping method............ except this time it arrived with a Canada Post tracking number. Guess where Canada Post states the package originated from:

Semmaa, Sweden.

Anyone else's arrive with a red, white, and black Canada Post tracking number?
If so, I think it's time to bombard the ask Matty board with this info to contradict what TG said he was told about that Swedish owned, but U.S. based distribution center
that were supposedly shipping our packages straight to us (gotta find that quote...).
Nice to finally have more concrete third-party proof that our stuff is really going to Sweden first. Since TG won't take our word for it, maybe he'll take Canada Post's.

That's happened to me with UPS before. Years ago though, and I think it was the last time I ordered from somewhere that ships UPS.

I find DHL's rates very fair in comparison to the big 2 couriers, and it got me my package in 2 business days. It felt weird having my sub figures before a lot of Americans even had theirs.

Too bad my original post over there disappeared, because all my info was in it..... and too bad they never bothered to respond to any of us in the thread Balthus started over there because my info is posted in that thread as well.

Now watch, other than really slow shipping I've never had a single issue with DR involving a credit card issue, shipment issue...... now that I've posted about that tracking number & my order number, DR's going to get their revenge on me with one of those dreaded triple payments or something.

So DHL wants to collect $12.96 for duties and taxes...even though I cleared the shipment myself and already paid the tax directly to CBSA. That's awesome.
