well, grayskull wasn't a He-man if you follow the definition in the goddess bio.

Well, since Mattel is sticking with the "He-Men through the Ages" concept, they might as well go all the way with it!!

So NA He-Man might as well be a "different" He-Man, and not Adam traveling to the future.

Then you could also say that Dolph was a different He-Man too, and have the movie actually tie in to the canon in a better way instead of the cop-out that too many of us received the 1987 movie to be.

    So . . .

    Wun-Dar
    Barbarian/Jungle He-Man
    Adam
    Dolph
    NA He-Man

That way, you could frame things around a timeline based on our own actual time.

Say Preternia (Wun-Dar) is thousands and thousands of years ago to us, and then Adam is thousands of years after that (yeah, I'm TOTALLY ignoring Mattel's "Wun-Dar was 100 years before Adam" nonsense).

But Adam is still in "our" distant past, whereas Dolph would be 1987 just as the movie depicts our own Earth, and then NA He-Man would be far into the future from now.

That could be kinda cool . . .

You know, I always considered 'Dolph' He-Man to be post-NA. He-Man returns from his 'New Adventures' to find Skeletor going all monkey-crap on everyone. It would explain Skeletor's previously-unheard of minions, and lack of characters we're familiar with.

Would also help explain Duncan and Teela dressing radically different than they did pre-NA (both are wearing outfits somewhat similar to the Galactic Protectors).

    Yeah, that could work, too!

Though it would seem pretty irresponsible for Adam to leave Eternia unprotected like that, which is why I was suggesting them all as separate characters.

For the movie canon to be tied-in, maybe Adam's He-Man is still on Eternia (fighting with whoever) so he dispatches "Dolph" to go to Earth with MAA, Teela, and Gwildor.

Maybe I'm just remembering as fact what I made up in my head long ago - but wasn't that the original Mattel-created storyline? That, for altruistic world-saving reasons, Adam left Eternia to help his cosmic buddies, and Skeletor followed him while the Masters continued to battle the remnants of his forces?

If so - yeah, it's irresponsible, but at least in keeping with the 'official canon.'

I'm not keen on there being two He-Mans at any one time, though. If Dolph isn't "Adam" - I think it would make more sense to change the entire continuity so that NA He-Man isn't Adam, it's Dolph - the first He-Man after Adam.

Well, Skeletor was always He-Man's responsibility. If Skeletor went to another world to wreak havoc, He-Man would follow him to stop him.

Now it's arguable that Eternia is unprotected...

    • He-Man has more powerful allies than when he first started out. Along with the Sorceress, now he has the likes of Moss Man, Sy-Klone and Zodak--most of those guys are powerhouses. Not to mention She-Ra's occasional team-ups.

    • The Evil Warriors have to not only fight the Masters, but the Horde and Snake Men too.

Unprotected was the wrong word. Perhaps -- less protected. He-Man is, after all, the most powerful man in the universe. Removing him from the forces of the good guys is definitely a severe blow to their ability to protect Eternia.

Especially considering, as you point out yourself, Eternia is under threat not just from Evil Warriors, but also the Horde and Snake Men.

Maybe I'm just biased for disliking "He-Man traveling to the future" as a premise.

I just think if Adam does his thing, and saves Eternia from the astounding triple-threat of Skeletor, the Horde, and the Snake Men, then he's already more than done his duty and earned his designation of being "THE He-Man" without being the NA guy, too.

But if NA He-Man isn't Adam... he could still be Dolph. Movie He-Man was NEVER called 'Adam' in the film, after all.

    That could work.

After all, Dolph's mullet could in theory at some point be a ponytail.

Plus, if you really think about it, the film costume is as close to NA as it is to classic. Big gold greaves are closer to big gold boots than they are to furry brown boots. Plus, the gold on his power harness is reminiscent of the gold strap he wore in NA more than the flat grey harness of classic He-Man.

And a gold-accented sword, as well. Like NA He-Man got back to Eternia and somewhat amalgamated his 'style' in NA with classic images of his predecessor He-Man.

I dont see how his head is all that different. Sure it's different art, but it's just He-Man head.

Guess I feel too much like Toyguru, as it isnt different at all. Just a different artistic style. So what's the point?

I'll take the bare feet, arms, no belt, spear ect. Think it's a waste, but I've already decided I like the character. But his head? Come on, it's just nearly nekkid He man.

I'm glad it looks like we're getting a barbarian He-Man relatively soon - I suppose we'll know next month if he really is the subscription figure - but with the name they've given him he deserves to be beaten by Skeletor!

How many times can you adjust the name Mo-Larr (the joke character) by one letter and come up with a name for a character who is supposed to be part of the canon? There's a challenge for someone who gets bored one evening.

Okay, so I dont have time to go through this entire thread...

Who is Oo-Lar... the barbarian guy who becomes He-Man because of a special harness he is given?

Then who is Wun-Dar? I thought that was who he was supposed to be.

    And now there is Vikor?

    I'm getting confused....
At MATTYCOLLECTOR.com, 'ALL SALES ARE FINAL'...UNLESS it's in THEIR ADVANTAGE to not be...

    Oo-Lar = mini comics He-Man

Wun-Dar - is a savage He-Man who was also a cosmic enforcer, based on an urban legend Wonder Bread He-Man who had brown hair, black attire, and purple weapons.

Vikor - original concept art for He-Man

I also always thought the movie was the most current timeline. After NA definately.

I really think that the Bio's reflect this concept, as after the Primus wars, they come back and war on eternia, ect ect.

    Oo-Larr, Oo-Larr!™

Thanks to Demo-Man's bio, Oo-Larr the Jungle He-Man has built up quite the resume before his figure has come out. It's also notable that his information comes from bad guy bios.

    • Oo-Larr teamed up with the Goddess and beat Gygor. (Gygor's bio)
    • Oo-Larr stopped Skeletor from opening up a portal to Despondos (Demo-Man's bio)
    • Oo-Larr destroyed Skeletor's Battle Armor and sent him back behind the Mystic Wall (Battle Armor Skeletor's bio)

Who's ass will Oo-Larr kick next?

I hope Oo-Larr has the Alcala He-Man head! It would be a nice counter part to an Alcala headed Skeletor! I'd buy two so I could do this! Here's hoping Oo-Larr gets announced in 2012!

Mods, could you change the title to "The Official Oo-Larr the Jungle He-Man Thread"?

Looks like I wasn't paying enough attention to the new bios. I assumed the encounter in the Demo-Man story was the same as the Battle Armor fight. Oo-Larr and Skeletor have some history Skeletor's got to hate that guy!

I'm seeing the new bare lower leg sculpt on Demo-Man and Photog and realizing we're another step closer to Oo-Larr. After seeing so much ambitious stuff from SDCC, I'm really curious about what kind of accessories and head sculpt we'll see on Oo-Larr.

That would be so perfect now that we have the alcala skeletor head on the way.
Photog is here! thank you, Mattel!

Now how about some mini-comics love (like Lodar, Geldor, Dakon......)? And Mermista?

Agreed, if we get that head it will replace my He-man as the real He-man. Best era is pre-filmation in my opinion.

We often don't agree, but the Pre-Filmation Era was pretty damn good!

I've got a spare He-Man body to put an Alcala He-Man head on. At this rate, we'll have an Alcala mini-comic shelf.
