I had him as a kid, but from when I first started back into MOTU in my teens- present day....I just can't appreciate him the same way anymore. He just seems like "token black guy thrown in for the sake of having a minority in MOTU" to me....and uggggghhhhhh....that afro. I hate afros.

They really gotta do something to make him look like not another stereotypical reject from the 1970s.

GOTTA be better then the Sam Jackson/Nickfury/luke Cage/John Stewart/Michael Jordan shaved head thing...

I'm white and aven "I'M" offended by the lack of originality there... Seems every black character either is, wants to be, or could be played by, Samuel L Jackson now days

I like the idea of Clamp Champ being a title given to the one who bears the clamp weapon, rather than his actual name.

Give him his alternate 200X head for a different look. I hope that flat tops aren't hype anime detail like mullets are. That has to be the stupidest rule ever!

Personally, I hope Clamp Champ looks exactly like the 80's version. If he comes with a second, 200x inspired head, I'll be happy too.

Being new to the boards and just getting into this discussion I wold just like to add this:

I would say that Clamp Champ is actually Dekkar's (from the 200x series) son and that he is actually besides a Master of Capture, but also the Eternian Warden who watches over and retrieves any escaped prisoners of the Kingdom of Eternia. I mean it would take someone extraordinary to make sure any captured enemies do not escape so easily. and since he is the master of capture, why not contain as well???

Yeah, that would be almost perfect.

It would have been great if that large sword holder in the back of the Fisto armor was interchangeable with a smaller one. That way, those that didn't want to use the 200X sword could instead plug the smaller holder in the back for his Tri-Klops sword. This would have then given them the option of giving us a seperate plug that could either hold Clamp Champs weapon or just a flat plug to cover the hole. Now that would have been PERFECT!

I guess Clamp Champ will have the same armor as Fisto's. The only difference we could see is the hole/sheath : it might disappear. Other than that, I expect both armors to be similar. I just wonder : could it be possible there could be a "storing place" for Clamp Champ's huge pincers on the back of his armor ?

To the people mentioning his "token" status consider the fact that canon wise he's one of the most powerful "humanoid" characters in the series with his reflexes and intelligence and strength- he always reminded me of a bad-ass version of Captain America on Eternia personally. Now on the issue of the fro', I'd say it depends on if they go U.S. mini-comics or U.K. because it was slightly different in each.

I hope they don't skimp out on Clamp Champ. I'd like him to get a similar treatment to Fisto. I'd like his "base" to be a reuse of the Fisto armor and look so it was classic, but then I'd like:

200X-inspired Breast plate that slips over the Fisto armor.
200X-inspired backpack that snaps onto breastplate.
And MAYBE a 200X-inspired head, though it's not a priority for me, personally.
