Just read through this whole thread. Wanted to find out who these characters listed on the Upcoming Concepts & Prototypes Poll thread were. Pretty interesting stuff... nearly four years of research and investigating, but nothing to share? Come on man... at this point, might as well just share whatever info you were able to acquire. You never know who might come across it and possibly even add to it.

    Early lost/forgotten comic - can't remember

    Hi there,

a few years ago I stumbled (possibly somewhere here) upon some pages of a very, very early black/white comic
pages dealing with another version of He-Man's origin. If I remember it correctly there was also some kind of
"laboratory" involved and one or two pages (pages 33-35 or sth like that) were missing and said to be lost.

Could anyone please help me get back on track and tell me what this kind of comic was and where I have to look
for the thread or section on he-man.org? Thanks a lot in advance...

    There's a fire gonna start
and you know they're going under
you can light the dark when they hear your heart of thunder.

'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments" (Matthew 22:36-40).

Sad to see this thread got stuck and forgotten long time ago.

I downloaded all the images when this was published some years ago, but unfortunately my old PC died and I lost them.

Please, would anyone be so kind as to repost image 19 of the series, at FULL resolution? All the links still work except for that one:

    I would greatly appreciate it!

    Thank you, best regards.

Any info about this He-Man comic?

    Hi!
I'm looking for any info about this MOTU unfinished comic:

This was an unfinished comic, there is just 32 pages (13 inked). But I want to know the artist and why was not finished. It is a rare He-Man origin too.

    Thanks!

My guess is it was done slightly after Alfredo Alcala started his work on the first four mini comics. I say that because Skeletor in this comic is the cardback version, which is a slightly later incarnation than the five-toed version used in 3 of 4 of the first minicomics. The five toed version comes from the original Mark Taylor B-Sheet.

My guess is that it was also done before the mid-1982 DC comics crossover series, because there is no hint of their Prince Adam origin story.

Having said that, the original auction claims this was from 1984. That's possible, but the art suggests an earlier origin, IMO

Actually, in this comic, he has four toes unlike the card back version which has three. It's most clearly visible when he's riding the dragon. So it's not quite 100% that version.
One possibility that might be worth considering is that Alcala may have been given an earlier design to serve as a reference by mistake.

Good eye - he does have four toes. But otherwise pretty close to the cross sell art.

I suspect at the start Alcala was given the most recent designs, mostly from Mark's B-sheets. The designs from HMPS, KOCG and VOS all seem to draw from those sources. But, it would be great if we had solid dates instead of inferences. I also tend to think Battle in the Clouds was drawn last of the first four, even though it's often listed as the third.

I would guess Alcala finished his artwork late in 81 and the comics were printed late 81 or very early in 82, in time for a March 1 debut of the line in stores. Just a guess! I wonder when the cross sell artwork was done and started to be used as a basis for other media? Maybe also late in 1981, when Alcala had already started working on several comics, but in time for him to start incorporating into BITC?

    Again, just guesses.
