TG, I also suggest you guys to grab the New Adventures DVDs we worked on a few years ago.
They inlcude in-depth bio compiled by our own Dagar and have all the info about the characters at a glance (info are based on the show, not created by us)
I'm not sure how much you can use since they are based on the Jetlag show, but characters and places name are the same of the toys and they could really help you out probably better than the old cardback bios, which have very limited info.

Cool idea, but the only animated series that we are looking at for Classics is the Mike Young "200X" series due to legal restrictions.

BTW, some more info can be found in our own encyclopedia, NA section:
    -----------------------------------------

    Kind off-topic, I hope TG won't mind:
why don't you guys post those scans also in the packaging pages of the new site and the bios in the encyclopedia too (in the toy parts of the profiles) ?

I know, but storyline in the show is 90% the same Mattel used in the NA minicomics, I dubt it goes that far to make it impossible to consider it due to the legalities.
Of course, you'd have to ignore show characters like Master Sebrian or Drissi.
Not Mara though, as she was going to have an action figure: have you seen the prototype?

I'd like to suggest using some of the European names of the figures as their "real names" for the bios.

    Flipshot - Icarius
    Flogg - Brakk
    Slushhead - Kalamarr
    Kayo - Tatarus
    Tuskador - Insyzor
    Artilla - Weaponstronic
    Spinwit - Tornado
    Quakke - Earthquake
    Sagitar - Tharkus

Actually, Emiliano, the text content for the DVDs was written by myself based on the show. It wasn't from pre-existing material, although I used the series bible to help with spellings and the like.

That's OK, Emiliano. Toyguru, I still have my original file with all the DVD profiles typed up in it if you do want to use it for reference.

I wouldn't mind getting a copy even if we can't have access to the material. PM me.

And we do have plans for how the European names will be used...

Yeah, I know of the prototype for her and Darius. Its a sticky issue on those. Don't count on them anytime soon. Unlike He-Ro, those guys aren't clearly Mattel creations so a prototype may not enough to get them in the line.

    That's sad and disappointing...

Thank the gods The Star Sisters show up in several places, even in Mattel's Italian Magic Girl magazine.

    Yeah, you're right about Mara.
She was created for the show and then Mattel was creating the figure.

But Darius is a Mattel creations 100%
There isn't just the prototype for him, but also tons of other Mattel development documents prooving that.
Aside from that hard-to-find material, he appeared on Mattel catalogs since day 1 along with the first wave of figures. It was long before the cartoon was announced.
Shot me an email when you get chance, I'm sure I can provide lot of info on Darius

Darius was also featured on the card backs themselves in the early stages of the toyline.

Hey Toyguru. A little off the specific topic, but maybe the Entertainment Department at Mattel can watch this for inspiration.

As an added note, I just checked a bunch of documents.
Seems like a version of NA may have been in development at Filmation too.
There is a list of characters and each one is labeled with the origin (Mattel or Filmation)
Darius is listed as a Mattel character.

Tallstar: rewatching that video I can totally tell it was made by Gary Goddard/Landmark Entertainment! (those behind Captain Power). Look at the effects, the CGI, even the lights and mood, its' so close to Captain Power!

What about Sebrian? He is described and listed on Staghorn's bio.

In addition to those already shown, I've got:
    Spin Fist Hydron
    Thunder Punch He-Man
    Battle Punch He-Man
    Battle Blade Skeletor

I can scan those in tomorrow morning, if no one beats me to them.

I think I brought the He-Man and Slushhead two pack, which is why I don't have a Slushhead cardback.

Vizar looks like he was supposed to be more of a Zodac like character.

nocturn looks pretty cool there as well. i really like this piece.

hmmmm...who could be the not so obvious guess for the first NA figure???

I've been wondering for years if anyone have an US Slushead cardback, as I've never seen him on US card. My guess is, until further proof, that Slushhead was only available in USA in a two-pack with He-Man. The single pack Slushhead was only released Europe, and he was named Kalamarr and had a shorter bio.

Lizorr is another character that i've never seen on US card.

So I don't think we'll be able to provide a complete bio for those two, sadly.

However, Toyguru, i would suggest to read the bios from the 1990 UK annual. They are more in depth than those from the toy cardbacks.
