the only thing that worries me is that they're coming in too fast and too close together...

C'mon Classic MOTU females are 5 if we count Marlena and the Goddess.
Pop is more female heavy but it's only 16 females (not counting Variants...)
21 females in MOTU and PoP vs the guys... Who I'm pretty sure are way over 21...
Out of those 21 we've got 1 and four more are coming from here til April. That's roughly1/4 of the girls done... The guys on the other hand, there's plenty of them left, So don't worry if some girls show up...I'd start worrying if they made Girl versions of male Characters... (He-Gal, Woman-at-arms, Skelerette, Beastwoman, Mermaid, Strata, He-Roine, and Queen Girlskull)
Toyguru, read this: The Rebellion needs Glimmer!! I NEED Glimmer!! Pretty Please?

And the classic line of masters of the universe ended up in etheria....there wasn't much separation in the classic filmation canon and there shouldn't b now.....pop goes hand in hand with the horde.....some people would complain that the horde and snake men isn't part of the classics for they weren't in the original prefilmation comics.....include every female in the mythos

I think a lot of people (especially the intelligent and attractive Pre-Filmation and 200X fans) just don't consider the POP chicks to be MOTU. It'd be like making a MOTUC figure of Optimus Prime. (Using the standard male buck, of course.)
Wow! So are you saying that everyone that likes Pop and considers it apart of Motu (since it was a spin-off) is dumb and ugly. It amazes me to this day that there are so many people that are resistant to female figures. If they look cool then what is the big deal? If you like your females limited or feel threatened by them that's fine, but don't think that you are better than the rest of the fans that enjoy all of Motu including Pop and Filmation!

I'm not a huge fan of the PoP figures. Most of them just look like the exact same character but with different colored hair. (Please don't hunt me down and hurt me PoP fans, it's just my opinion!)

I do want She-Ra, Catra, Evil-Lyn and the Sorceress. But Marlena? She seems pretty boring to me.

Oh, but I should mention my wife wants anything PoP related. So either way, they're being bought in my household!

I think that the Royal family and even the 'enforcers' (both mystic and cosmic) are pretty weak supporting characters... Just designed to drag the line out over years. I choose not to buy them, I'm not bitter about anything... if you like all this fruity rubbish then you are welcome to it.

Personally, I wish Matty would shy away from making any of the She-Ra characters. They are just so over-the-top frilly/cheesy that I really hate to see them out there diluting the strength of this line.

I definitely won't buy them and any that I receive via my subscription will quickly find themselves on ebay.

As a POP fan it hurts me that there are people who hate them this much. I honestly don't see why it should be so. All female figures in the MOTUC line will be done in the same style as the males. There is no difference between Adora and Teela any more than between Stratos and Faker, say.

With that said I think attacking and insulting each other on such a trivial issue is really uncalled for and we should respect each other's opinion. POP haters have a right to say that they won't buy the next sub if more females are released (as much as I have a right to say that I won't buy it if there aren't...).

I think that many boys during their childhood weren't allowed to buy the figures either due to peer pressure or because their parents didn't allow them since they were labeled as "girl only" toys. With Filmation focusing all their efforts on She-Ra and abandoning MOTU almost completely many MOTU fans were deprived, so to say by She-Ra and her friends, from both a large part of the action figures as well as from their favorite show. These people seem to have grown up hating She-Ra and co., sometimes giving me the impression that they use "POP" as a bad word to label female figures actually...As someone told me elsewhere, they don't like the characters because they mean nothing to them other than bring up bad memories. I was lucky enough because my parents didn't have any problem buying me all the figures including POP, but I do respect the feelings of those who didn't share this luck.

This line lives and dies by how popular each character is..So bring on the females..There's only a handful of them would sell well, despite hopeful wishing for lesser well known characters.Honestly, I will be surprised if we get to figures like spikor and such.Let's get the good stuff now, while we still can....

Hmmm. I always play nice mate. What comment do you disagree with? I guess I shouldn't call any figure rubbish... but hopefully it was made clear that it was my opinion (as was suggested in a different thread).

The only member of the royal family I will be buying will be Prince Adam... who I hope comes with maroon jacket, lavender pants and pink sword.

Can't believe some of the extreme hatred for the POP ladies. It's mind blowing. I think it really does come down to people being threatened by female action figures. Sounds so silly, something most little boys get over by age 5.

The most ridiculous part in my mind, is that the people who oppose female figures so much because of what they might imply about the collector are the same people who would happily display a collection of figures comprised primarily of half naked men in loincloths. Seems backwards but what do I know.

Anyway, I just hope we continue to get lots of females in the line.

DISCLAIMER: this is NOT directed at the author of this thread, nor at any of you who just don't like the POP line because of the story or whatever... this is directed at guys who hate women... and don't even KNOW they do. This is directed at guys who don't want females in the line just because they are females, and they would rather those of us that DO like the females NOT get what we want just because they would enjoy that.

You're kidding me, right? UHM, she IS a MOTU character. Read the mini-comic "The Sword/Story of She-Ra." Who is that in there? Hordak?? Sorceress?? He-Man?? Castle Grayskull?? Yeah, you're right. She's just a BARBIE DOLL.

TOKEN She-Ra figure? Yeah, because Catra isn't bad-as*, nor is Queen Angella, the ruler of the ONLY kingdom on Etheria not controlled by the Horde (at least at the beginning of the She-Ra story). But yes, please give us ROTAR, spinning master with the leg-less power FIRST. He's a guy, after all.. so he MUST be cooler.

Of course She-Ra is a girls line filled with girl characters... Everyone knew that this was coming before the subscription went on sale.
    Wow, I am a girl?!?!

    I didn't know that.

I guess that large thing there isn't what I thought it was.

    ARRRRRRGG!!!

SHE-RA is not a girls' line. In fact, SHE-RA as a line does not currently exist. MOTUC is an adult collectors' line... so women aren't adults? or are they just not adult collectors? or maybe women are just unimportant, unnecessary, uninteresting and useless... oh wait, that is until men who think that women are 2nd class should be servicing their men.

Yeah, that was an extreme reaction. But it was necessary. BOYS, get over the "i hate pink" mentality. Teela could kick ALL of your REAR-ENDS. But then, that is the REAL reason you all hate She-Ra and the MOTU/POP women so much, right? oh, no, it's really because the vintage line's figures (for POP) had 'real' hair and 'dresses.'

    Threatend?

Make up your minds... either women exist, or they don't... but you better get used to jumping the fence if you don't want them around.

    ---

So now that you guys (the ones who think there should be NO women in the line) have read my rant, let's step back and think about what it feels like when a fellow collector (a person, or people, each of us should feel comfortable talking with, and supported in our affinity for this line) says something to subtly denegrate those who might like the female characters.

    I'm tired of it.

The line is going to have a bunch of women next year. Toyguru said so. But GUESS WHAT??!? It will also have a BUNCH of males. MORE males than females.

GUESS WHAT ELSE?? The females will sell out just as quickly as the males.

And I STILL don't buy that all of you, who "won't buy She-Ra, or Sweet Bee, or Perfuma," still won't buy them after you see what the 4H do with them.

I don't... you will all be online at 12noon scooping up Perfuma. I KNOW IT!

Oh, really? So Pre-Filmation/Early He-Man fans are like closeted hollywood actors who move their permanent residence to Italy because it's one of the only countries where it's illegal to take paparazzi photos, photos that might show actors with their same-sex partners?

I beg to differ, at least regarding NYCC... I was there... and so were a lot of other MOTU fans... while I am a MOTU fan, I am ALSO a POP fan.. and frankly, there weren't many, if ANY George Clooneys at NYCC...

I donīt think that 3-4 females per year are to much. *LOL* ...you guys know there are 8-9 males on the other side. Anyway, the 4H are great and i canīt wait until i see their updates of Castaspella, Fisto, Catra and Man-E-Faces.

    Excellent points.

DCUC has more females made each wave. In two years (almost) we've seen:

Harley Quinn, Batgirl, Catwoman, Giganta, Wonder Woman, Big Barda, Hawkgirl, Power Girl, Wonder Girl (upcoming), Marvel Girl (upcoming), Cheetah (upcoming), Supergirl (upcoming), Black Canary, Raven (upcoming).

They are all popular, and/or sold/will sell VERY WELL.

I have to agree with Jo-ro and bcrduke. I'm really tired of seeing other fans attack and deride other fans because they like or dislike certain aspects/eras/characters over others. If you don't like it, don't buy it, but respect the other persons right to disagree with you.

That being said at least we're not Transformer fandom yet. I'm pretty sure someone will eventually make a post saying that it scientifically implausable for a planet of barbarian body builders to have females.

I'd also like to point out that Mattel considers PoP to be a part of MOTU. "Classics" is the style of the line not its limitation. Mattel has also stated from the beginning that MOTU Classics will represent all eras and lines. I would think that we would all have figured this out since the first character in the line was from 200x.

As for "fruity," it is pretty obvious that the word was chosen to insult and anger other posters. The paper thin defense that was offered is the typical one used when insults involving derogatory terms for homosexuality are thrown about. It's a bunch of crap.

While I'm not a fan of all the POP characters, I am quite pleased with the line so far and how it is looking for the future. Will there likely be a few characters I don't like all that much? Yes. Does that mean that the people who do like them should be penalized because of one man's opinion? No.

I am very happy with Teela, and looking forward to The Goddess, Adora, She-Ra and Evil-Lyn. I may even warm up to the idea of some of the others after I see what The Four Horsemen do with them. If I don't, well I guess I'll just save some money.

I do have the 2010 subscription, but I won't get the 2011 subscription if I don't like the direction the line is going by that time. Mattel have told us what to expect, and I imagine they'll continue to let us know a rough idea of how many POP/NA and what have you figures will be coming.

Lastly, these are toys people. Most of us are around 30 or so. What are any of us insulting each other for (not just in this thread)? I mean, come on! Life is just to short. Let's be cool to each other.
I'm hoping for a Disco Skeletor for the next subscription exclusive! Fully flocked!

LOL I say if you don't want females, don't sign up for the subscription. I am not going to miss out on the females because someone would rather see the men produced first. We will always get more male characters, then females each year. I say HELL let 2010 be the female year and give us atleast half of the figures females.

Females always tend to be the harder figures to find and always go up in value. I LOVE THE WOMEN AND I SAY THE MORE THE MERRIER

I'm sure all the POP figures I get from my subscriptions will go straight to my local toy shop as soon as I get them.
Ha ha ha, see this is the mentality taught to young boys about female figures. Wow, if touching a toy, that happens to be female, makes you less of a man....then maybe touching a real woman is not something you should do either.
