Answers to WTFWTK 2.27!

Toyguru has once again provided answers to your questions.

1. joseephus: What is the status of the MOTU Attitubes release dates, price, etc?

There was not enough fan interest from SDCC to move forward with any AttiTUBES at this time.

2. cyberv: If/when Catra is released, will she be an Evil Horde member? The original POP figure was not labeled this way but this is how most fans remember her.

Yes, she will be an evil Horde member.

3. Spectror: Are there countries that Mattel is prohibited from delivering to, and if so why? For instance, Matty Collector doesn't deliver to one of the fans in Serbia.

Serbia is currently not a country DR ships to, but they are in the process of scoping out how they can include it. (I’ve personally requested this). Unfortunately there is quite a bit of work involved so I don’t have an ETA yet. It is being looked into.

4. DamnSmooth: Has Mattel given any thought to breaking up the sale dates on Matty Collector? For example: Ghostbusters on the 1st, MOTUC on the 15th, Bonus Figures on another date, etc?

All sales dates will remain on the 15th of the month (unless the 15th is a weekend, then it will be the following Monday).

5. Lord_Of_Destruction: It's been stated that all female figures will use the same basic body. How will this affect a possible Veena figure since she is supposed to be barefoot and have an exposed midriff? Would her outfit be refreshed/altered or would she receive different tooling?

Females will share the same basic body, but as you have already seen from Teela and Adora, new arms, legs and dresses (armor) will be created for each figure. So it is very easy to do new bare feet and attach them to the female buck for a Veena figure in the future. We will also be using a looser plastic on the armor for females (starting with Adora) to help with the articulation.

I'm liking these answers. Catra as a Horde member, and the possibility of Veena. Plus, it seems that TG is wanting to get these figures to EVERYONE who wants them. Shame about the Attitubes though

To bad he didn't explain how to fake a exposed midsection on Veena. Perhaps a dress that looks like there is a belly?

We won't need to fake it. The female basic "buck" is nude. When we get to Veena down the road she can have a 2 part dress/armor piece if that is the way the Horsemen go with her design.

Um, you sure about that Toyguru? Here's a picture of Teela sans dress:

She doesn't seem to have a sculpted midsection, so her outfit would need a 'fake' belly.

I hope what Toyguru means is that the 4 horsemen might just be allowed to create a DIFFERENT lower section, i.e. the abdominal part. (the part that Teela clearly doesn't have... poor girl!)

I'm actually HOPING that She-ra gets a different, POP oriented body with maybe an abcrunch. I mean, Mattel can reuse the Teela buck for Evil Lyn, Adora, Sorceress... Surely they can give us a SECOND torso.... right?

Either ways, I LOVED the answer about Catra. I never was much of a 'hairy skirt' Catra fan and if they can pull the filmation look from the Style guide, I'll be the happiest She-raver ever!

Not a POP fan, but I will be picking up the Catra. Some of the designs Emiliano did are awesome. The Attitubes were horrible in my opinion, I'm kinda glad they decided to scrap the idea. Hopefully they will put that energy into something much cooler.

Hmmm...I figured that they could do this IF they can do a DC Comics version of Teela down the line. She's the only other MOTU-verse character with an exposed navel too.

That is fantastic news about Catra!!!!

That leads me to believe that she will look a lot like the style guide. I hope they will pull in a few other small detail influences from the action figure as well. I have no doubt that when Catra is released, people will be very happy with the way she looks!

They appeared to be a Mattel vinyl concept, similar to Hasbro's Mighty Muggs and super deformed vinyls from other companies.

Makes sense to at least explore the idea, especially if there is a market for them.
