I bet they'd want to minimize tooling on him, but the Battle Armor is a decent stand in for his MYP armor. Also Trap Jaw's upper leg is about perfect for his leg brace.

I posted this also over at matty's forum.
I was reading my MOTU mini comics yesterday and noticed that in several minis Randor shows up with his Filmation attire.
So I was wondering if Mattel will consider making this variant someday.
I know people are talking about captain Randor but how about this version?

I'd love to have this version just as much. Specially since we are getting a Marlena at some point.

FILMation Randor is not high on my want list but I'd definitely get him if he was made.

Generally speaking, I don't see a need for FILMation-style variants of existing MOTUC figures. However, I would like Kobra Khan to come with a removable kobra neck and a Webstor with shoulder-mounted propulsion hooks would also be way cool!

I love Filmation & I love Randor so I would definitely buy him. Having said that, I doubt this would eclipse my love of the previously released MOTUC version. That is one of my favorite figures.

The tooling would be pretty minimal. The current head that they made for Randor looks enough like the cartoon version that they could just reuse it. All that they really need to do is make his robes. The "skirt" part could be done in a similar manner as that Preternian disguise He-Man figure, and then they just need an outer Robe that can slip over his arms. They could still use existing sculpts for the main body of the figure.

You guys are forgetting that he would need new boots as well. I can see them possibly making him down the road, but it's pretty far ahead, methinks.

I personally would not be very interested in him tho, at least not at the moment. I always liked the warrior-side of Randor more than the elderly statesman side.

There's really no way I'd buy this figure. The Randor we got is the definitive classic version in my opinion, and if we see any variant it should be a younger Captain Randor from MYP.

And besides this is his most iconic look. He's had that look in Filmation MOTU, mini comics, comics, POP and even in NA. Why not have it also in MOTUC?

That MYP part is arguable, Mike.

However, I would love the choice to display Randor in his Filmation duds.

Randor is a character with MANY looks.

Pre-Filmation "Elderly" Randor (This could be an alternate head)
Filmation "robes" Randor
Vintage "Jitsu armor" Randor
200X "Fur cape and leg brace" Randor
Captain Randor
Battle Armor Randor

Randor already came out. Any other Randor variants would be bonus figures and wouldn't take up any monthly slots.

Precisely. I'm happy more or less with the Randor we got, though I'd love to see the Capt. Randor version from 200X, or even the 200X King Randor.

Ugghh, the Filmation Randor DEFINITELY looks like the Burger King.
