I don't think that there would have been such a huge reaction from the fans and comments from Val if the Illumina affair was just a "red herring"...

Well, I for one would like to get this set (preferably 2 to keep 1 MOC and open the other). I just hope that some will be sold on MattyCollector since I won't be going to SDCC.

Robot Chicken paid for producing Mol-larr...
I'm sure if MVC pay for Ilumina, Mattel wouldn't have a problem issuing her...
With that said, I "might" get this one...
I'm a bit disappointed that Mo-Larr will be a 2-pack with a Skeletor with a new head.
Still, I'll most likely pick it up since I'm not opposed to joke characters, and MOTU is a natural for parodies.
I used to make joke stories with MOTU figures a few years ago myself.
In one story I had He-Man defeating Spikor by kicking him you-know-where.
In another I had Skeletor trick He-Man into opening the door to Castle Grayskull by pretending to be pizza delivery.
Making jokes out of my favorite characters is nothing new to me,
so having a joke character on my good guys team doesn't bother me one bit.
Fictional characters are just that. Fictional. They have no personality or free will of their own.
Writers and editors mold them to their own wants and needs.
All we as the audience and fans can do is pick and choose our favorite interpretation and ignore the rest.
I agree with you completely, but sadly this kind of dictatorial behavior is the norm in most fandoms. Either you follow the given dogma to the letter without question or you're a heretic unfit to be part of the group. Full stop. It doesn't matter if the majority is disastrously wrong and you're right, it doesn't matter if they're hysterically overreacting to nothing whatsoever, it doesn't even matter if they don't have a clue what they're talking about, the mere fact that it's the majority means they win regardless and you're not welcome. It's all about who yells louder and is more bullying than actually liking a property, and it's all about enforcing groupthink and stamping out anything contrary.
As you can kinda guess, I have a very, very low opinion of fandom.
Never underestimate the stupidity of fanboys in any size group.
I just thought about something how much do you want to bet this set has super fancy electronic talking packaging?
I'm betting thats a big reason why they included a full skeletor and not just his head. There going to make this a big presentation piece. And it will probably have have sounds recreating the bit in the package.
Every year mattel makes one of the SDCC figures with super deluxe sounds and and packaging.
I wouldn't care that much, but this usually makes those figures more expensive than the others, like Grayskull was. So we have mo-lar which i want, thrown in with skeletor to jack up the price which i don't want. And then again jacked up more if it has electronic packaging. This has a big gouging potential, But I'm really curious to see how much this costs.

Will the Mo-lar 2-pack be available on Matty like He-ro and Faker?
Or do I need to hit Ebay?

Some people state that the Mo-larr set is a "joke" set or that Mo-larr is a joke character and do not consider it part of MOTU or MOTUC, while others maintain that it fits right in and is equally part of the line. What say you? What is your take on Mo-larr and Toothless Skeletor?

MOTUC Most Wanted: Skeletor's Robot Knights, Two-Bad, Horde Troopers, Modulok, Sssqueeze, Tung Lashor, Stridor, Night Stalker, the Battle Ram, and a true, alternate head for Wun-Dar (since he's a "different" character)!
I think it depends on where we go from the bio, but I have a hunch he'll never be heard from again.
He is a joke character and not a part of MOTU, but he has a figure and is a part of the MOTUC line.
He's a Robot Chicken creation.....I doubt too many people really include him in their cannon beyond him having a figure.

Mo-Larr is not MOTU at all. He's part of Robot Chicken, and that's what he'll always be to me.
To me he's a joke, but he rules! I love that they made him and think he's hilarious, and I have him loose (displayed on my variants shelf) and MIB, one of the few MIB items I kept when I decided to stop also collecting MOC.

The Cradle Will Rock As I'm Drivin' Down Highway 40 In My Big Ol' Pick Up Truck.
To me he doesn't exist at all in any form in my collection. I always saw him as a joke and not part of MOTU at all. Its cool if people like him in their collection though but he just never appealed to me as a real character. I got the set (for cheap) only to use him and Skeletor for parts and to add weapons for my TRU Skeletor.
NO DYLAMUG? WE DIAL A MOB!!
In several FICTION UNIVERSES comical characters are in the same world that "serious" ones:
MARVEL - Howard the Duck, Deadpool, Great Lake Avengers
DC - Gnort(the Dog Green Lantern), Manga Khan & L-Ron, Captain Carrot
STAR WARS - Jar Jar Binks, Jaxxon (the green bunny)
In the same way Mo-Larr can exist in the same universe where Orko, Snout Spout and Plundor exist.
For me Mo-Larr was an eternian doctor who got mad. Now he is an insane evil warrior obsessed with teeth and armed with scary dental tools.

Fear is faith in failure
Right on! Mo-Larr was once a respectable dentist in Eternos, but was driven mad (as dentists often are)and began randomly attacking Eternians (both good and evil), performing unnecessary dental work. Eventually, the Evil Warriors recruited him, but he's a barely caged animal among them-feared by even the scariest of scaries.
Not to sound like a creepy cheerleader for Uki, but it's nice to know there is at least one person on this forum who is extremely positive & friendly all the time. I don't think I could be that nice even if you paid me. If we ever give out awards for "forum member of the month", Uki gets my vote. -Mr. Shokoti
Jungle Attack He-Man in Classics!
Mo-Lar! He is very reminiscent of old Filmation characters, kinda cheesy kind of dumb. I would consider him Robot Chicken cannon much more than He-Man.
Great question. I think as He-Man continues to grow there will be more figures like this popping up. I think Star Sisters are another question.
If Crackers, the Widgets and Orko can be in MOTU and MOTUC, then so can Molarr and Toothless Skeletor. However, I think the most people will be able to include Molarr in (if at all) will be into MOTUC.
