    Answers to WTFWTK 2.126!

Mattel has once again provided answers to your questions.
Thanks again to them for taking the time to answer these!
Check out their answers to your Round 126 questions!

This round of questions were selected by Jubilation.
Thanks to that fan for their help!

    1. Bamf1980: In the old Son of He-Man pitch, there was a character description that stated Kay-La is "...the niece of Man-At-Arms. Whether she is specifically a blood relative to either Duncan or Teela is unclear." Since the MOTUC bio canon has a different take on Duncan and Teela, as well as the SoH timeline, would it be safe to assume that Kay-La would now be the daughter of Clamp Champ and Flutterina?

The MOTUC bios for Teela actually is the traditional take on Duncan and Teela putting her square into the "adoptive daughter" category and using the existing "clone of the sorceress" story from the original mini comic. So this isn't new or a "different take". As for Kay-La, you'll need to keep reading the bios and the mini comics for more!

    2. Swifty: It was stated long ago on an episode of Roast Gooble Dinner that Crystal Moon Beam and Crystal Sun Dancer, arguably the most obscure of the POP vintage horses, were in the original roadmap. Does this mean all vintage horses were in the original road map? And if so, wouldn't you have had to release at least one horse per year starting in 2014 to finish them all by 2020?

In the original roadmap through 2020 ish, yes we did include all of the vintage horses. How many, if any at all, will show up in the 2014-2015 roadmap is yet to be seen!

    3. Jubilation: Catra is an A-List POP character and was the lead villain in the POP toyline. It seems odd she doesn't have at least one of her two beasts to ride into battle against She-Ra on. Might we get either Clawdeen or Storm before the MOTUC line ends?

Clawdeen and Storm are definitely "more" possible since both are partially tool'd beasts (vs a full tool like Turbodactyl). Whether or not they will make it into the 2014-2015 roadmap is yet to be seen!

    4. King Tamusk: Does Mattel still have access to all of the master copies for the 80s MOTU and POP commercials, and the 90's New Adventures commercials? If so, is it possible to assemble them together on a DVD for collectors? I think that would be a very fun and nostalgic item to offer, which many collectors would be interested in buying.

No, we do not have copies of all the vintage commercials for all Mattel’s 80's lines.

    5. facet: Is Hans Hammer holder a title given to someone who wields the Hans Hammer, much like Protectors of the Sword of Power were called He-Man? That's assuming it's a legendary weapon of Trolla, sort of like the Sword of Power. If not, does the hammer have its own name and any special abilities?

It is more of a nick name than a title. He is a guy who favors a hammer as his weapon and his name is Hans. His nickname flowed from that. It is not a magical hammer if that is what you are asking. He just likes to smash people and has the strength to carry a huge mallet.

I hope we do see Clawdeen or Storm for Catra to ride into battle against She-Ra and Swiftwind.

I understand that Mantisaur is probably unlikely to be made as it would be a unique tool, so the default "leader" of the Horde and She-Ra's arch nemesis (and primarily villain in non-Filmation media) should receive her own steed. I'd personally prefer to see Clawdeen (using the BC buck) because it makes sense to me for a cat-based villain to ride a giant lion into battle, but Storm would also be good to see.

Wouldn't Clawdeen just be a pink Battle Lion with a new saddle? Seems easy enough.

I meant more the later half of Teela and Duncan's lives than the former, as I understand where that bio material came from...but cool that he didn't discount Kay-La's existence in MOTUC outright.

Clawdeen doesn't have sabretooth fangs like Battle Lion does. She'll need a new head too.

    Well...

Question 1: couldn't Kay-la be Fisto's daughter thus affirming the bloodline and relation? Or did they abandon the whole Brothers-of-Arms concept?

Question 2: with Catra's importance in the line, why hasn't SHE hasn't received a variant and that would've saved us from the numerous Hordak's (i.e. Hurricane Hordak or Buzzsaw Hordak).
-This could've and probably made this quote "Filmation" version more acceptable by placing the accessories and pieces from those versions all together for a truly desirable SDCC exclusive?
-I for one don't yearn for any other beasts except for Stridor and Night Stalker, OR possible a true cat version of Catra????
'Tis the wind and nothing more.....

Clawdeen to some people is much more important to many as Catra was a main villian and it is her signature mount.

I would love Stridor and Nightstalker but Catra is true A list. Fisto and Jitsu are not really A-list. Not fighting, just stating fact. I want the mecha-horses and all the mounts. Dinosaurs, Mantisaur, Charger and POP horses but Clawdeen, Mantisaur and Charger (Teela's unicorn) are technically the last of the A-listers mounts. Don't be hatin'! You can argue Tyrantasaurus is, too, but to the best of my knowledge, he wasn't King Hissss' mount until recent media in the mini-comics. Clawdeen is pretty much golden at this point. No need to drag her through the mud.....

Also, crap! Forgot Battle Lion was saber toothed. She would need a new face sculpt!!!
It's all been done before. Everything to say has already been said. Do me a solid and pretend I posted something witty and and original here

I like the vintage Clawdeen and Storm equally, but for the Classics line if it had to be one or the other, I'd go with Clawdeen. Swift Wind turned out great, but takes up so much "real estate" on my figure shelves... whereas the cats take up less room. Longer vs. wider... with the amount of room left currently on my shelves, longer wins in my display! Plus, Clawdeen being a cat seems like a better fit for Catra. Not to mention Entrapta would look pretty bad-ass riding a MOTUC Clawdeen!

Clawdeen has the more interesting design. Storm is great but in the end he is just a white winged horse with a black mane and tail.

Catra is absolutely in need of a toy variant but i stopped hoping for that and hope for Clawdeen now. She definitely needs a new saddle and head sculpt. The Battle Lion mane is nice but hers needs to be bigger but less perm like just bigger especially at the top since she wears no face mask, if you ask me.

I see Clawdeen as an absolute must and probably the most possible between now and the end of the line. Mostly because they already possess the buck. Just make it some shade of non-offensive pink and... done!

bamf1980, out of curiosity, how did you come up with Kay-La being the daughter of Clamp Champ and Flutterina?
As you say, in the HR SOH pitch it says she's the niece of Man-At-Arms, and the MOTUC Bios says Man-At-Arms and Fitso are brothers (as in MYP) so I'd say it make more sense for Kay-La to be Fisto's daughter.

I personally have no interest in Clawdeen, I'd much prefer Storm. I think it works better with Catra's steed being the opposite of Swift Wind, like Panthor is the opposite to Battle Cat. We've already had the cat buck what four times now, lets get another horse before the line ends and I hope it's Storm
But yeah I'd also take both Stridor and Nightstalker over any other beast or vehicle at this point.

I think Mantisaur should have a much higher priority than Clawdeen or storm honestly. 5 Hordaks with no ride vs. Catra. I think Hordak is a bit more important. Besides, I never understood why Catra needed a ride anyway. She can transform into her own! That's what I really want. Her cat form.

I think you are right Mantisaur is totally a priority but she is not more important than Catras ride what ever she gets in the end.

But going with your "she can transform" theory Hordak doesīt need a steed as well since he can transform into a rocket and is faster like that than any ride

    Depends on which hordak we talk about;
Mantisaur appears mostly on the 80's minis comics/ comics where it indeed is very useful to him cause
the horde boss is never depicted (unless i missed something ) as being someone having such an ability.

In the old Son of He-Man pitch I think Kay-La was Dare's love interest and that Dare was found and adopted by He-Man and Teela he was also believe to be She-Ra and Sea Hawk son, so it was ok for Kay-La and Dare to date . With the MOTUC Bios Dare is He-Man and Teela's son and if Fisto was Kay-La father she would be Dare's cousin and cousins can't date each other. I like the ideal of Kay-La being the daughter of Clamp Champ and Flutterina it gives new life to the story.

    *Sigh* Every time.

I know the Vintage Only crowd is getting smaller, but the same negative comments remain. I understand that you all want Stridor and Nightstalker, but how about being fair for a change eh? You've already got Battle Cat (and Cringer), Panthor, Wind Raider and Jet Sled and we PoP fans have... let me count it.... urm.... Swiftwind and.... no, that's it; Swiftwind. Even 200X is beating PoP for mounts with the Griffin and Battle Lion.

Every time someone asks for any PoP figure we get the "I'd rather have [insert Z-list Vintage character here] first!" You've got all your A-List! I had to wait until this year for PoP's second most important character; Glimmer. How about being a tad less selfish?

Every time someone asks for any PoP figure we get the "I'd rather have [insert Z-list Vintage character here] first!" You've got all your A-List! I had to wait until this year for PoP's second most important character; Glimmer. How about being a tad less selfish?
    Bravo!

I salute you and i have to thank you. Your post is very well articulated with out anger and simply telling the facts as they are.

Being patient isnīt easy for no one and itīs okay if some one donīt like one thing or the other but i think itīs not always needed to tell everyone "you" want that character just because a character is mentioned "you" don't like in general speaking here of course.

Iīve been waiting for my favorite character for some time now but iīm not mentioning her in every thread, i could but why should i. She is not my only topic and even in POP related threads iīm not using her name that often.

I think Clawdeen(or Storm) should be part of 2015 and i would love to see Mantisaur as well.

I think the answers this time where very good. I want all the vintage POP girls made, I would love the mounts but I know realistically that we may never see them.
