I thought Episode 6 was by far the best of the series.

In this one episode they pulled all these disparate threads together in a clever way to set things up for everyone rallying around a revolt against Batiatus.

And thank god they've toned down the slo-mo and blood spray. I thought both were overused to the point of distraction - especially in the first episode.

I recommend to folks that they either ignore the first episode or take it with a pinch of salt.
I agree the amount of slow mo was just about enough.

I felt sorry for the gay couple in this last episode. I hope that kid finds out that his BF didn't just leave him and avenges him!

Yup about the only thing you will be lost on is Spartacus contempt for Claudius Glaber, but by the end of Episode 2 they have done enough for you to understand.

I keep recommending this show to people, and give them the warning that the 1st 4 episodes are kinda slow, but then it really starts to pick up.

In Episode 5 when they are embracing you will see a guy looking at them. Not sure what his character name is as I do not pay attention much to the other gladiators outside the main set

ie. shaved head, French and scary looking.

I just found that part on Netflix, and the look he had was very ambiguous. His intentions might be bad or "bad". Hope we find out soon.

I just started watching it. I had seen a clip of it and wasn't impressed, however it was recommended that I give it another shot. So here goes:

I just finished Epi 2 and so far its okay. I'm not exactly a huge fan of the crude language. Sometimes I feel it sounds more like bad porn dialogue, than that of a epic series. I just feel like its a little overdone. Okay, I get it, you can say ****, **** and **** (all words I cannot use on the org) on tv.

At the moment, the only thing that has made me want to watch more is the great stylized visuals, Lucy Lawless, and the half naked/fully nude hot men running around.

After watching the last two episodes I would like to say that Batiatus is such an ***hole!! I cannot wait till Spartacus gets his hands on him and finds out he was behind what happened to his wife.

And was anyone else cheering when Spartacus avenged Petras, that was GREAT!

I could have sworn when they first introduced those two they said the young one was the other guy's son. That's why i was disgusted when i saw them having sex. I'm guessing i misheard them?
I watched the first 5 episodes but we only had the starz, etc channels for 3 months and it ran out before the 6th. It wasn't bad. I have to agree somewhat with sonofblaine. I like nudity (female nudity anyways) but even I get a little bored with it when its constant. Though I don't think it was overdone here and it is realistic of the times the show takes place in.

I hope Doctore continues his investigation and finds out the truth about Barca. I was also glad when Spartacus killed that "Zidane guy" - he deserved it, but not nearly as much as some other guys. I guess the season finale will have the truth come out and result in a big vengeance extravaganza

Sad news, the 2nd season is going to be delayed because the star is fighting cancer

'Spartacus' delayed as star Andy Whitfield undergoes cancer treatment

Sad news: Andy Whitfield, who’s currently starring in the Starz drama Spartacus: Blood and Sand, has been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma and will begin treatment immediately in New Zealand. As a result, production on the second season of Spartacus — which was scheduled to get underway later this month — has been delayed.

Whitfield’s cancer was detected early and his prognosis is good. “I’m receiving excellent care, and am feeling strong, positive and determined with an army of support behind me,” said Whitfield in a statement.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Andy,” said Starz president Chris Albrecht. “His health, of course, is our primary concern. He has our complete support during this difficult time.”

On the bright side Episodes 8 and 9 have been leaked on the internet and omg they are great

Just saw my first episode the other night with episode 6 I think it was, and I'm already hooked. Doesn't seem as slow and uninteresting as Rome was.

Just catching this thread. I started watching spartacus on netflix. It took until the gladiator fight at the end of the 1st episode to get my attention. Im really loving this show. Every friday just irritates me cause i have to wait another week to see the next episode.

This show isnt for everyone but its like it was made for me. But i tihnk it could use just a tad bit more violence. By that i mean more matches in the arena other than just spartacus'.
