    Geoff Johns talks about He-Man

I got to interview Green Lantern writer Geoff Johns about his toy collecting. There's some He-Man in there--check out the last question in particular!

    There you have it.

Toyguru, you have a huge writer wanting to do He-Man comics...all you need to do now is get Emiliano or Jim Lee and we'd be set for some new mini-comics.

Maybe now we can have a Black Cosmic Enforcer storyline!

Nicely done Poe. I have fond memories of GJ's run on the Flash so I'd be more than OK with him tackling He-Man....now all we have to do is get Mattel to license the property out to a Comic co (DC this time) and we could be good to go. Easy.

I'd be up for that? Who should publish it? I'd be up for IDW. I think a smaller publisher would be ideal for a MOTU Classics comic.

They make comics for Hasbro's Transformers and G.I. Joe. Could they do stuff from Mattel too?

Doesn't Johns write mostly for DC? I wouldn't mind having another round of DC MOTU comics, especially if they had Geoff JOhns on it!

That's why I mentioned DC - GJ seems to write exclusively for them, and DC does have MOTU history.....

Johns is a comic writing god.
Always remember the dark days of 2004 with no new MOTU in sight...

Only 4 more that need updating:

    Saurod, Blast Attak
    Dragstor, Multi-Bot

Mattel is also doing DC Universe Classics. I'm surprised that Mattel didn't try to get some MOTUC mini-comics out of that deal.

Probably because it would've raised the cost of the figs or something... (uneducated guess: $30-$40)
FINALLY!! GLIMMER IS IN MY SHELF!! Now I need a Crita!! Crita is to Mara what Evil Lyn is to Teela. If we ARE getting Mara, then we NEED Crita.

I hope Toyguru and everyone at Mattel is paying attention. One of the hottest writers in comics now is clamoring to create a MOTU comic. I really hope they don't let this opportunity die on the vine. Here's a chance to get this line even more exposure, bringing in a brand new audience. Please, make this happen Mattel!

Oh man. As upset as I am that we already lost an amazingly well done MOTU comic for no good reason...

I would love to see a new monthly comic. I'd be all over it.

    That sounds very cool indeed.
The man has such talent that has revitalized DC's second tier heroes as Green Lantern & the Flash to put them in the mainstream again; so I wonder what he would be capable of with MOTU characters that are so rich and still so virgin in order to explore their personal stories.

BTW, I think that Dan Didio (DC's Executive Editor) everyday thanks the Lord for having Geoff on his staff and planning to sculpt a Staute of Liberty size monument in his honor.

    Dear Mattel,

Please give the MOTU comic license to DC Comics. MOTUC figures are selling out and I'm sure the comics will sell well too. We need a comic series to go with the toys. I get comics weekly and would love to have MOTU comics on my pull list.

    Pretty Please!

    Thanks for MOTUC!

What could Mattel (toyguru) be waiting for??!! More than a year long support and selling out (since King Grayskull) of MOTUC! The property is getting hotter and hotter! Hailed as the "best action figures out there" What more do they want??? Unsure of putting out another tv series?, ok, then comics is the way to go. It's the logic step!

This is Mattel we're talking about. Hasbro can have G.I. Joe and Transformer comics out there selling the brand name, but having no actual toys to push. Mattel canceled the 200X comic that fans were still reading and television show that people were still watching because the toys failed. Instead of keeping the comic and tv show out there promoting the brand, they got rid of everything.

Mattel probably will not do anything multi-media unless they have a television series backing it up. Which was crazy since MOTU started out without having a television show and was still successful without Adam and Orko. This has to be why any mini-comics have been held up.

Comics are a most at this point. Bios are cool and all but we definitely need more.
"New fans" need them too to find out more about the characters. They could sell the comics in Mattycollector. They could sell one comic every 2 months.
They could do a mini series to test the waters.

Mattel could learn a thing or two from Hasbro then.

Hell yes. Transformers and G.I. Joe were dead properties just like MOTU. But they came back better than before and are once again established properties. Hasbro not only has brought the Sunbow Library for all of their properties, Transformers and G.I. Joe both have movies that have hit the mainstream and have made alot of money.

If they couldn't bring back the MVC team to do more He-Man comics I would LOVE it if they got him! I recently told my comic book shop guy to just start putting anything he's written in my box.

The problem with having a big name outside Mattel write comics for a new series is that Mattel is most assuradely married to the content of the bios, and any creator worth his salt would require more control over the material.
I just can't see it happening.
