    The Tytus Thread

Kind of hard to keep track of all the news about each figure in one thread. I think Titus is a great looking figure and I definitely wasn't expecting to see him revealed. My one complaint would be the lack of some articulation. Has Mattel stated why?

What do you think of him?

I have heard that the figure is rotocast but I'm not 100% sure it's official yet. Rotocast is essentially hollow on the inside, and they use rotocast to make bigger toys cause it's cheaper to make. But because it's hollow on the inside it may be harder to articulate like a normal figure. IIRC some old toy biz rotocast stuff had double jointed knees...

But it's to keep the costs down a bit as well all around i think.

One question that's been on my mind is: how can you be a heroic WARLORD?

$40 for a rotocast figure without ball hips may just equal pass for me.

I don't have any confirmation on this, but I posted a pic earlier today where you can see up the side/underneath his loincloth a bit and it appears to be the 'T' crotch. Can't say for sure though.

that would be a complete pass for me then, the lack of articulation at the biceps, lack of ab crunch and t crotch = pass...

Tytus has the same articulation in the arms as all of the other MOTUC figs. The arms bend at the elbows.

Here we go. This is the picture I was talking about. We can see pretty high up, and if you look towards his crotch, it looks like an indent in the inner leg like they do for 'T' crotches:

hmmm, maybe its a v crotch? That would be even worst, but my fear is that the legs are static...

From the Toy Fair Talk thread, my comments about the bio. Figure they make just as much, if not more, sense here as there.

I think he looks great, I don't mind that he's a little shorter than the vintage version(I don't want He-Man to look like a Smurf next to him), but I'm in the minority with the bio. While I don't hate it, it's defintely one of my least favorites. Although, what do I know? I loved Evil-Lyn's bio and there were a lot of people that hated it.

I don't know how you can't see it, but that nice clear shot from the side taken you can see in the shoulder area that it DOES articulate. Look near the collar bone area. There is a separation and you can also tell the arm is a separate piece from the torso.

I loved my vintage Tytus very much, so this is the one figure I must absolutely get.

Am I the only one who has no clue what Tytus is holding? Metal detector? Vacuum? Or perhaps he is Tytus the Eterian golfer!

Why does everyone keep saying that there is a typo in the Tytus bio? It states:

After He-Ro’s death he used his great strength to build King Grayskull a mighty fortress…
Which is correct. He built a mighty fortress for King Grayskull. It is not implied or punctuated, at least in the transcripts, that "King Grayskull" is the name of the fortress. It is who the fortress is being built for.

    Anyway…

Tytus is going to be awesome. I can't wait.

There is no bloomin' way I'm passing on this boy. I never had the chance to get him in the 80s. (Only saw a really used and yucky one at a comic shop years and years later - had to pass.)

Mattel has yet to disappoint me with the new MOTUC line. I've lovin' every figure so far.

Finally I've found that I belong here.

I can´t believe it, but Ill have a Tytus in my collection.

The articulation is fine for me. If there is too much articulation the price grow up. The design is perfect, the weapon is perfect, the sculpt is perfect. I cant wait to see Megator.

He's an excellent figure! I am totally surprised to see him! Beautiful sculpt! The only articulation that bothers me that's not there is the ab crunch…only because he can't bend over to go after people. It's just a small nit pick that I'll get over because the figure is so freakin' awesome!

Even with the decreased articulation, there's nothing can dampen my joy over this announcement!

Tytus was a long shot, a MOTUC fantasy half-baked in wishful thinking and alcohol. Mattel's budgeting this line like my penny-pinching Aunt Kathy... nothing short of retail success was going to bring Tytus and Megator to the table.

So to think that Mattel found some way... any way, to bring giants into the line this early... I can't even fathom being let down for what could be considered major sacrifices to articulation. Major on the scale of body design... minor compared to what I would've sacrificed to get this figure this soon, not even worthy a mention.

The sculpt is deadly accurate, and the face is hauntingly perfect. I don't even care if the only characters he can "catch 'n toss" are Orko and Tri-Klops' drones. Thank you, Mattel, for bringing your A-game in this line. Tytus is everything we never dreamed of, but never stopped wishing for.

    Powers of Grayskull... dig it.
