    My thoughts on NA He-man

When NA came out my brother and I thought that it looked like He-man gave up his strength for armor and technology. We didn't watch the show then and still have not. In fact, we were totally turned off from it. The only characters that I recall seeing were He-man, Skeletor, and Optikk. We thought that He-man looked like a whimpy, technological sell-out ; Skeletor looked like a joke ; and Optikk was a cool looking good guy. Obviously we were wrong about Optikk (being good).
I recently started reading the summaries of the series and so far I think, "interesting."
I don't remember seeing many of the NA toys in stores, but recently looked at some of them on www.grayskullmuseum.com and thought, "WHAT!?!"
I know that the 4 Horsemen are talented and will be able to re-make these dreadful abominations into works of art... here's hoping.
    What do you think?

I didn't watch the New Adventures till last year when I got the first season box set cheap. It was diffrent, I did really like what they did to Skeletor. My first reaction was "They made Skeletor in an....." well the I proably can't say it there but it's the name of Dennis Leary's famous song.

I liked it, Skeletor had some real personality instead of just being evil.
I just wish they had explained why the sword was diffrent and why he now called on the power of Eternia. I think they show should be taken for what it is. Not an extenstion of the orginal MOTU but a whole new series.

I wouldn't mind owning the figures and I own the box sets and enjoy them. I remember watching it when it first came out and I liked it because it had an Anime appeal to it especially the opening theme, and being a big Anime fan it really clicked with me.

Isn't the reason he calls on the power of Eternia rather than Grayskull because he's in the future? I always figured that maybe the power of Grayskull couldn't reach all the way to the future so he had to call on the power of the whole planet. Doesn't he call on the power of Grayskull in the first episode?
    Who has the Power?

Interesting question. DIC produced THE LITTLES. (Writing episodes for THE LITTLES was actually my first job in television.) At the time DIC produced THE LITTLES, the company was owned by Frenchman Jean Chalopin, who became my mentor and dear friend. Jean later sold DIC and started a new company, Jetlag Productions, which produced N/A. So what you see is an overlap of Jean's influence in the two series.

'Slick'? Yeah, you're slick. And interestingly enough, the turtle in THE LITTLES was named Slick. That little guy scored a lot of points for me with the gals -- as in "Awwww, he's so cute!" -- back in my bachelor days.

Yes, He does say "By the Power of Grayskull" in the first episode. But by the second episode, the phrase is inexplicably dropped and replaced with "By the Power of Eternia".

The toy line's explanation is revealed in a mini comic, where the Power of Grayskull is channeled into Starship Eternia. But by that point in the comic, He-Man sheds his Adam persona. Obviously the mini comic continuity is NOT in sync with the cartoon...

There is thus no definitive answer for the cartoon series, as the Starship Eternia does not serve the same purpose as in the mini comic. I'd say your above theory is the closest to making sense as we'll get.

It's possible that in this future, Castle Grayskull no longer exists.
