I really like this project. Inspiring, I'm considering trying something like that myself. Looking forward to updates.

this is awesome! i like how you've incorporated aspects of all 3 castles. i can't wait to graduate next semester so I can do more extensive projects for motu and get back to customizing transformers again.
will it have a lowered drawbridge?
That looks INCREDIBLE! I can't wait to see the finished piece!

Almost done... just need to add some rocks and grass and stuff like that. I still haven't worked out the laser cannon yet but eventually.
I made a flag design that I will print out tomorrow, both sides will be cut and glued together and shaped to simulate fluttering.

I bought TWO 2013 Subscription as support, because of the promise that showing support will ensure 2014 will include ALL the major POP and NA characters.
Not only is this an amazing piece, but you did it incredibly quick - you first posted the re-do with chicken wire on May 8th - assuming you restarted about the same time you finished this in just under a week - incredible!
Can you write up a how-to if we want to make our own? Or, since some people may ask - are you open to taking commissions to make more?![]()
Thanks for the positive feedback everyone. yeah, I've been working on this pretty diligently for the past few weeks. I've been neglecting the lawn and house work just to focus on this.
This was really an experimental project. I never created anything like this before so I took a gamble by using chicken wire, plaster bandages and what not... If I were to undertake a project like this again, I would probably do things differently to make it more sturdy. It's just a bit on the flimsy side due to the heavy clay I used on the top part of the castle, so it's slightly top heavy.
As far as any instructional advise, I'd be happy to assist you. but keep in mind I'm no expert compared to some of the custom model makers on here.
Thanks again for your praise.
maybe not an an expert, but you did an great job!![]()
Really nice work. I really like the detail.
Thats damn awesome
I am fire made flesh, power incarnate, I am.... THE DARK PHOENIX!!!
The fire of the Phoenix burns through lies, you understand? The gaze of the Phoenix is like an x-ray tearing through every self-deception. So burn, Emma. Jean Grey, New X-men 139
That thing is a monster! Very nice work there, my friend.
We survived the long night.... MOTU Forever!
WoW!!! You have inspired me to attempt to build my own castle. I am checking out tutorials on Youtube for paper mache tips since I've never done any paper mache projects. I may have to hit you up for advice. Great work

I found that paper meche doesn't get too solid. However, it will make a nice foundation to lay plaster bandages. The bandages will get ridged and make your castle sturdy, provided you have a sturdy base such as chicken wire. Hit me up if you need a tip or two.![]()
