Idea for a cheap & possible subscribers exclusive

I've got two 2010 subs, and although I'm looking forward to Wun-Dar and the map, I was kind of hoping for more exclusives for signing up.

So how's this for a possible, and affordable "exclusive" for subscribers a bit down the road...

When Man-E-Faces is released (and I hope he is, and soon, as I love the original two waves), how about the sub version being an update of what is dubbed 'Man-E-Weapons' from the original version?
For those that don't know, some original versions of Man-E were packed with a selection of the Grayskull weapons, in a deep red dye.

Most (with a couple of exceptions) of MOTUC's equivalent Grayskull weapons already exist. It would be cheap and simple to do them in a deep red dye (similar to the recoloured weapons in the Weapon's Pak), and package them with MOTUC Man-E-Faces (if/when we see him).
They could make this 'Man-E-Weapons' version exclusive to subscribers (with the regular version being sold to everyone else), and I think it would make a very welcome 'exclusive'.

Anyone else got thoughts on it?

More Man-E-Faces is always a good thing in my opinion. I vote yes make it so number 1!

i would prefer a "pack out" of the weapons for subscribers instead of packing it w/ the man e faces figure and creating a variant for the line when its unnecessary. they made the running change on mossman and look what happened.

    =)
Can I get a "Hell Yeah" for Scorpia!!!

Sounds like a great idea. Actually when the 2010 subscription was hyped it sounded like there would be more than just Wun-dar...which is covered by the $20 subscription fee...and a map. I think the subscription should be something with perks for the collectors who are truly committed rather than something which needs to be signed up for to avoid headaches on the 15th.

Well, yes and no. The Moss Man thing was a bit of a fiasco simply because of flocking issues.
Personally I think if it is a "clear cut" variant for subscribers, it would be no bad thing. Besides, subscribers could buy the regular Man-E as well, if they needed to be completist, and as for non-subscribers... well, they're not gonna get some items anyway (Wun-Dar and the map, etc.), and I'm sure just about everything will pop up on ebay at some point.

I agree that Kamoflage Kobra Khan would make an excellent Subscription based exclusive, the bio could even suggest that this particular variation is an ancestor of Kobra Khan's who fought alongside the Snakemen in "The Powers of Grayskull Pre-Eternia era.

Another interesting ideas for Subscription exclusive figures would be Gorpo, imo. Man-E-Weapons could be cool too, but I think that I would rather these two first.

Mattel please, buy the He-Man and She-Ra cartoons from Entertainment Rights. If you owned Both Filmation related "MotU" cartoons, plus "NA" and "MYP" cartoons, you would be able to distribute any or all 4 cartoons to Television in the lead up to another relaunch or a live action movie. Plus, you could include Filmation and "NA" animated characters in "MotU:C"!

    Long Live 'MOTU'!

Gorpo and Kamo Khan would indeed be cool, and made for reused parts so are viable but I can imagine that there would be a scrabble for those from all fans, and might pee non-subscribers off.

The idea with Man-E-Weapons was that it would just be packed with existing weapons but in fresh colours. But then again, I do like the idea of occasional sub-only characters (and we're already getting one, with Wun-Dar).

I dunno, I'm just bouncing ideas around here

Sorry guys I don't find a repaint of man-e-faces that appealing, especially if it's aimed as an incentive for the 2011 sub. Yes, if it was a bonus figure, that would be cool. But I feel the sub exclusive should be something very very special. How about a life size (plastic) power sword?

Truthfully, I think this is the sort of thing that should be the subscribers exclusive (of course, we'd need more than one thing like this to justify the 20 bucks they ask us to cough up!). Folks who don't subscribe aren't missing a figure, and the folks who do get a little extra.

Of course, knowing DR and Matty, we'd likely have subscribers getting the Man-E-Weapons and then also getting charged for a regular Man-E....

Though it isn't a Man-E repaint. Just coming with some extra goodies (affordable as they need no new tooling), yet giving subscribers a little extra here and there. TBH, when I signed up to my 2x subs, I was hoping for a little more in the way of extras.

    I'd have to say no.

As much as I'm looking forward to Man-E-Faces and Man-E-Weapons showing up in the MOTUC line, I just don't like the idea of Man-E-Weapons being the sub exclusive figure. Basically, it wouldn't even be an exclusive figure, it would be more like subscription exclusive weapons. I'd way rather see a new or unique character as the sub exclusive. As it is, I'm highly looking forward to April for Wun-Dar, and I definitely won't have that same anticipation for some extra weapons.

As has been speculated, the idea of Man-E-Weapons being one of the SDCC exclusives, with the regular Man-E-Faces being sold on mattycollector later sounds like a better way to get both versions of the figures IMO.

I would love to see Man-E-Weapons at some point, somehow. I'd also like to see both versions of Man-E (mini-comic look and toy colors).

Well, I was following two lines of thought:
    * Justly or not, there would be outcry if a 'main' character was a sub-only figure. I think they just got away with Wun-Dar cos he's a simple He-Man / Zodac repaint who isn't really a part of MOTU lore until now.
    * The weapons would be easy to produce, so are more likely.

As much as I'd love to see some wonderful unique piece of work as an exclusive, it probably ain't gonna happen - maps are about as much as we can get. But if I had an exlusive variant of Man-E, it'd be better than nothing.

I'm hoping to see Man-E in his box art colours (which is possible seeing as how many other releases are being based on old box artwork).
It's been discussed on a number of other threads, but I'm very uneasy about too many repaints being thrown into the line - bad memories of what helped kill off 200x.
(But that's for another thread )

Right, and by mini-comic look, I should clarify that I meant the same as box-art, in case anyone misunderstood.

I agree that too many repaints are not a good idea, although there are many versions of HM and Skelly I want to see...

We didn't get that with the Battle Cat shipping coupon? The ordering fiasco with Battle Cat doesn't take away from the fact that the coupon itself was a perk only for subscribers.

2010's just getting started as well. I bet we'll see one or two more perks for subscribers before the year ends. I'd say a bonus figure or reissue figure pre-order would be nice. Particularly in the case of King Grayskull. We pretty much already know what he's going to look like and that he'll be re-released at the end of the year. Why not give us subscribers an opportunity to tell Matty in advance just how many copies of him we want within the appropriate time frame?

Fair point, but a few dollars off (which is only an incentive to make you buy anyway) isn't really an "exclusive".

I think the "Man-E-Weapons" idea is great... as a pack out.

We should get it free (subscribers) and it should be offered for sale. I think that's fair since it would not have been announced prior to the 2010 Sub sale. In other words, it's rather unfair to just give existing subscribers something that no one else can have, without having offered that chance in the first place.

Considering many of us didn't get to USE our BATTLE CAT Coupons (), because our messed-up orders were "rectified" by Digital River, without their employing our coupons, we should get this weapons set free.

It would cost them virtually nothing, and be worth much in the way of good P.R.

Assuming Man-E-Face is being sold in 2010
    A Want List of Sorts:
Rokkon, Stonedar, Nepthu, Plundor, Sea Hawk, Strong-Arm, Dactys, Horde Troopers, Storm, Geldor, Modulok, Battle Ram, Kowl, Loo-Kee, Hydron, Glimmer, Angella, Stridor, Eldor, Two Bad, Ninjor, Rio Blast, Mermista, Entrapta, Sweet Bee, Peekablue, Double Trouble, Perfuma, Flutterina, Spinnerella, Gorpo, Flogg, Crita, Madam Razz & Broom

Well, yes and no. In my view, the subs should offer some exclusives. But something that isn't essential (hence this suggestion) and is basically just a refresh. Same deal with Wun-Dar - an exclusive to subs, but made from existing parts and something that won't leave a gaping hole in non-subscriber's collections.

Besides, at the end of that, everything appears on ebay anyway!

I prefer a new character rather than a variant. That redeco weapons can be placed in a Weapons Pak.
