    Iron Man 2 Official Discussion

so i've seen a few trailers on this film and already i'm not liking it much..

aren't trailers suppose to be good and make the movie interesting? then again, there's trailers in general where they look great, but the movie just sucks.

in this case, the trailers look overly. uh, watch this film i'm better than the first and so overly hyped?! from what i see, its just trying to hard to be good.

maybe i'm wrong, maybe i'm right.. maybe people will keep watching it no matter what because its IRON MAN.

look at transformers 2, that sucked and made 4 billion dollars

I saw combat drones in the trailer. I love robots, and I love powered armor. The first movie rocked, so at least I'm under the impression that they'll do equal to the last. If nothing else, I'll probably have a good time.

In short: Lookin' forward to it!

I love the first one, and believe I will at least like the sequel. Hopefully it will be a good popcorn flick at least.

I'm quite looking forward to Iron Man 2. I've tried to stay away from watching all the trailers etc... as i really want to watch the film "uninterrupted" so to speak. I guess the only way i'll know if the film is hype or not is when it comes out and i go see it. But from the little i've seen, i like it so far.

i like what i've seen, with superhero movies the second usu has the potential to be better as you don't have to spend time developing the heroes orign, he's established and you can have more fun with him. But with sequels there's always the fear that they'll give too much flash and not enough substance (for me I call it Secret of the Ooze syndrome) they get much more money to play around with and they spend it at the expense of storytelling.

I'm looking forward to it, though not on the same level as something like The Dark Knight or anything. The early reviews are not promising, though. I'll still go see it because I like to draw my own conclusions, rather than get my opinions from someone else, but it's a bit worrying when all of the (admittedly, few at this point) reviews agree that it's not good. The first movie was surprisingly enjoyable, so it'd be a shame for them to blow it now.

I read the novelization of Iron Man 2 and I think it'll be quite good.

I liked the first film and am willing to give this film the benefit of the doubt. I don't see how Whiplash (a.k.a. Blacklash) can be a credible threat to Iron Man since he was a B or C-list villain in the comics. I'll make my judgements after I see the flick.

All in the presentation. If they treat him with credibility and build him up properly, it'll work.
His outfit doesn't offer much in the way of protection, though. At least he doesn't look like somebody's gimp in the movie, though.

Exactly my point. One repulsor blast and his head is bloody oatmeal. But, like I said, I'll give it the benefit of the doubt until I see the film, D-Fist.

I've watched Iron Man 2 - small spoiler

I was not aware that Iron Man 2 has been released first internationally than in the US.
I've watched it last Thursday and all I can say is that I liked the movie a lot.
Robert Downey Jr. carries out the movie by himself alone as Tony Stark, although Sam Rockwell executes a rival Tony wannabe in an excellent way. Mickey Rourke is a quite a cool villain and a definetely upgrade to the comics' Whiplash, but with the silent type dangerous mean guy persona.

Minor spoiler: (don't read this sentence if you'd like to reach virgin knowing whenever you seat at the cineplex): I wish there'd would more on screen time with Scarlett Johansson, but she has pretty much 10 lines in the whole movie, so she is basically eye candy, and if IM2 would have been in 3D, we'd be squeezing the air pretending to feel her rear.

There's not much of a twist on the story itself and is essentially predictable since the beginning if you've been watching at the trailers; even though is hell of enjoyable and there's quite a respect for the original characters, something that I've missing in blockbusters like Transformers , Spidey 3, FF or G.I.Joe.

Attention - BIG SPOLIER - Attention

If you don't want to know for what there'd be next, stop reading the following sentences. Warning given.

There's a lot of involvement of S.H.I.E.L.D. and there are cameos, as in the original IM Cap's shield frame but more direct, of the next 2 Marvel movies. Stay till the very end of the film credits to check what has fallen in New Mexico and you'd realize why a certain nordic god picture has been released this past week.

Attention - SPOLIER ENDS - Attention
Great trade orgers: Son of Keldor - sdilks -JeMaBo2 x3 - Kowl - Bigassbuzz (Hyveofvillany) - Queen Marlena

Did anyone else really love the one-two punch of Iron Man and Incredible Hulk, and are missing that this year? Not that Hulk was quite as strong as IM, and it didn't try to repeat the few things that worked in Lee's Hulk (leaping, tank and jet fight). But still, I'd have traded Clash of the Titans for another Hulk to go with Iron Man 2 this year. At least next year is Thor and Captain America.

To rush to the defense of the awful G.I. Joe, I think they thought it was respecting characters with all those silly flashbacks.

I saw it on Saturday. Honestly speaking, I didn’t think it was anywhere near as good as the first one. And I don’t think there was enough SHIELD presence felt in the film. They should really be starting to set that up a bit more, what with the Avengers coming out in two years. I did like Sam Jackson’s scenes as Nick Fury, though.

I just felt that whenever something wasn’t exploding on screen the film was just very boring. In the first one all the scenes between the action sequences were entertaining because of Robert Downey Jr’s performance as Stark. In this one, the character of Stark is so depressed and not his usual self that it just didn’t pack as big a punch as the first one. As I said, all the talky scenes were just really boring.

I did like the robotic drones and Whiplash, although I didn’t feel he was used as much as we were promised. Although I was very relieved to see that he did get his own suit of armour for the final battle. And War Machine was good as well. The new actor they’ve got is actually much better than the previous one, IMO.

Obviously we’re not going to get an Iron-Man 3 before the Avengers. I’m very much looking forward to Thor and Captain America next year. This is possibly the most interesting time for superhero films. So far we’ve had three films that have set up the Avengers. With Thor and Captain America it will be five. The Avengers needs to be something truly special to warrant all this cryptic build-up seen in the films. I wonder what kind of hints Captain America and Thor are going to throw our way? I've heard that Jackson's scenes as Fury have already been cut from Thor. This is a strange move, considering by the time Thor comes out we're getting closer to the Avengers.

Also, Iron-Man 2 works quite well when you think that it takes place before the Incredible Hulk.

Actually, I loved The Incredible Hulk. It's my second favorite marvel movie after Iron Man (yes, it beats all the X-Men and Spiderman movies). I just loved how the Hulk was done in it, and the final smackdown was fantastic.

I liked his powerjumps from the previous movie, but felt they just got so much right in that one. I don't even mind the changes made to the Abomination.

I have to say, I can't wait to see Hulk interacting with the rest of the Avengers in that movie.

When I first saw this thread I couldn't believe how few posts there were, then I realized it's not been released in the states yet.
Anyway, went to see IM2 on Fri, it is good but nowhere near as good as IM1. Its a bit slow for the first hour but don't think I will notice that as much the more times I watch it. Was a little disappointed Whiplash or Black Widow are not refereed to as these names at all in the film. There is a nice joke about the change in actor for Rhodey. And yes the bit after the credits is well worth it.

Okay, got to see a special advanced screening of this movie, and while I agree it isn't quite as good as the first, it's still a fantastic, very well done movie! The characters are still spot on, and it looks like everyone's having a great time in their roles.

    SPOILERS

I liked the story touching on Demon in a Bottle, and I hope to see more of that creep in once Mandarin gets involved. In fact, my personal hope is to see maybe in a crossover that Steve Rogers helps Tony through a rough patch to really cement their friendship in the movieverse.

Also, the Monacco scene was great. Longer than the trailers made you think, with a great buildup, and a very satisfying end.

Last, did anyone else laugh out loud when Happy was giving "Black Widow" the point about not taking your eyes off your opponent, then she dropped him HARD in the blink of an eye? The reactions of Tony and Pepper had me rolling!

Love it, we saw it tonight and it was great. Loved the scene with the SHIELD agent whatshisname lol forget his name, and Tony in the lab when the agent finds the shield and goes you know what this is? Tony goes Yes, give it here, and uses it to level off his equipment

Awesome movie, especially the agents mission to the desert that is acknowledged at the end of the credits

I saw the movie tonight and really liked it. Overall a good story and they developed Tony Starks character quite a bit. Lots of good action too.

My only complaint was that the final fight with Whiplash was a bit too short. But overall good show. If you liked the first one you should like this.

Also, make sure to stay to the end of the credits for the last scene.

I thought the movie was great and that is better than the first myself. I do think the final fight with whiplash was a bit short, but the only part i didnt like was at the begining when whiplash screamed no.

It was really enjoyable imo. It was funny at the end because everyone in the theater knew about the final scene after the credits and all stayed in their seats.

Honestly, I wasn't impressed. I'm not a Marvel guy (DC all the way for me) and the "cameo" was for something/one that I have no real interest in. I was more hyped to see Caps shield in the middle of the flik myself
