whether the fact they are aliens is central to the plot or they are already long established on earth so that it really means nothing other than a quick throwaway line about them being martial artists from another galaxy who just happen to resemble bipedal turtles doesn't really matter

what matters is that they are going to be alien.

Big part of the plot or small part of the plot it is all the same and what both these options are is.... LLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEE EEEEEe

    Turtles are mutants not aliens.

    MUTANTS

Hell I could buy an alien influence if they say it was an alien mutagenic ooze that turns four ordinary turtles and a rat into kick ass martial artist fighting machines but making them actually aliens

this is for Bay and whoever the heck is writing this movie

I know it's still early, but I can't stop being upset about this. i think I'd rather watch Next Mutation and claim Venus is the coolest turtle...
I agree....and I pretty much detest Next Mutation!

Okay, having the origin of the mutagen come mostly from The Utroms' via the TCRI base they took refuge from is one thing, but That doesn't make The Turtles 'alien'! They mutated HERE ON EARTH!!! In fact, Professor Jordan Perry was originally going to be depicted as an Utrom in 'The Secret Of The Ooze', but that idea was scrapped. If Michael Bay wants to incorporate the otherworldly elements of the franchise, he could have The Utroms, The Triceratons, The Fugitoid, maybe even Krang, and Dimension X, but this is taking things A bit too far! It's bad enough that the thought of Michael Bay giving Bebop, & Rocksteady A 'Skids & Mudflap' makeover has me A bit leary, but having our beloved 'heroes in A halfshell' as 'aliens' kinda betrays what they are!

I just can't comprehend the choice to make the Turtles aliens. I will now refer to this movie as TAINT (Turning Aliens Into Ninja Turtles).

    New Info - Apparently

According to "sources" who have told these guys, the Turtles will be "inter-dimensional beings". They also say they've gone down this route because Krang is going to be the villain. To be honest, I don't really believe this, even though I would love to see Krang.

Oh, and Bay himself posted this on his official website:

Fans need to take a breath, and chill. They have not read the script. Our team is working closely with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles to help expand and give a more complex back story. Relax, we are including everything that made you become fans in the first place. We are just building a richer world.

    Michael
The original creator he mentions must be Eastmen, because Laird sold off the rights and now has nothing to do with TMNT.

There's going to be a scene where Donatello can't figure out what's wrong with the spaceship. April will offer her help and say, "hey let me take a look, my dad worked at NASA".

Oh, great! Now the Turtles have been 'Crystal-Skulled!'

Even if this is true, shouldn't that make Krang the interdimensional being, and NOT the Turtles? Why do the Turtles need to be from another dimension in order for this to work? (I'm not asking you directly, Krueger... it's me questioning the 'logic' behind their decisions).

Well, that gives me a little hope if either of the original creators is involved, but I still don't trust Bay's word at all. His idea of being true to a franchise is to crap all over it and flush it down the toilet in exchange for large sums of money.

In my defense, even though I wasn't huge into Transformers by any means, I still like the general concept. I did have a small handful of the toys (and a few Gobots as well, and I just kind of mixed them all together). I also have the 80s animated movie on DVD and I did buy the Matrix of Leadership box set of the series... though I still have yet to actually watch it. I've just wanted to sit down and watch the show that I only saw on a brief occasion back in the day... but like MANY DVDs that I have, I just haven't gotten around to watching it.

To be honest, I'm not sure I'd have hope if either creator was involved. One abandoned TMNT pretty quickly after they became a multi-millionaires to marry a soft porn "actress" & try to make something of Heavy Metal Magazine(he's come back with IDW's relaunch but I'm not too fond of that either). The guy who stuck with them for years killed off Splinter and retconned April O'Neil into a creation spawned from a magical pencil. I'm sure Bay can top any crap TMNT has endured before, but I still don't believe "original creator(s)" = quality no matter what franchise you're talking about.

This made me laugh, TMZ reported it
The guy who voiced Michaelangelo in the original "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movies is FURIOUS with Michael Bay ... claiming the director is "sodomizing" the franchise by changing "turtle" history in an upcoming flick. The outrage stems from a comment Bay made about his upcoming live-action flick at a recent media event .... in which he said, "These turtles are from an alien race, and they are going to be tough, edgy, funny and completely loveable.”Of course, TMNT fans are FLIPPING OUT ... since everyone knows the turtles mutated during a brush with radioactive ooze after falling through a sewer ... duh. One of those ****** off fans is voice-actor Robbie Rist ... who recently posted a letter to Bay stating, "You probably don't know me but I did some voice work on the first set of movies that you are starting to talk about sodomizing."Rist added, "I know believing in mutated talking turtles is kinda silly to begin with but am I supposed to be led to believe there are ninjas from another planet? The rape of our childhood memories continues ... "Still, Rist tells TMZ ... "Everything I have said here could be off base and wrong ... He has made WAY more money at this than I have."

Awesome. I would love to know what the other voice actors think of this

Really, Michael Bay? We need to "take a breathe and chill?" Explain to us why we should. We know what you're capable of...

Seriosuly, I'm usually very easy going about this sort of thing. I don't normally participate in online complaining about new movie concepts, and I've always been very open-minded in that I wait to judge until I've seen the actual movie.

But this...something feels different about this. Maybe it's becuase I have such a personal attachment to TMNT and because I saw what Bay's version of the Transformers was. It scares the hell out of me thinking about what he's going to do to a property that I love so much. It's infuriating.
