Speaking of, how soon in August are these figures coming out and will the 4 inch and the classics lines be released to retail at the same time?

If the figures are coming closer to September, then Ban Dai should just say September.

The figures should be in stores around the end of the month, retailers are supposed to get them to coincide with the launch of the show on the 29th. The SDCC Lion-O Classic goes on sale next week, and the other 2 regular classics should follow (standard Lion-O and Tigra)

The figures have already shown up in Hong Kong which usually is a 2-3 week indicator of release in the US for other lines like GI Joe and Transformers.

The four inch Power Ranger figures are awesome! I wish they were the 5-6 inch regular Power Ranger size (and didn't have enlarged hands and feet), but other than that, they are probably the highest quality Power Ranger figures I have seen in a VERY long while. The sculpts (except the hands and feet) are also great.

Also, from seeing the previews of the Thundercats 4 inch and 6 inch figures, it looks to me like the 4 inch ones are higher quality than the 6 inch ones. Something about the 6 inch "new style" Lion-O looks really cheap, especially his face. The 4 inch ones face looked really good (from what I've seen).

I agree, I need to see them in stores in my hand but comparing the 4 to the 6 it seems the 4 look better. Almost like the animated designs do not translate as well to a larger sculpt

Did anyone else catch the Thundercats trailer attached to Harry Potter? I was the only one in a packed theater who freaked out!

It is the large hands and feet I refer to. Oh, and the fact that the Samurai rangers look NOTHING like they do on the show. Yes, they got most of the ZyuRanger cast right, but they gave every Shinkenger body armor and such instead of just doing it the right way.

I cannot disagree or agree because I have never seen any high quality pictures of these figures, especially ones in hand. Prototypes can look as good as they want, but it is the final product that matters.

I don't know, I'm the opposite. I have the 6" Mumm-Ra and it looks fantastic. Granted, they haven't shown the 4" Mumm-Ra (Ever-Living) yet, so I don't know how it would compare, but I prefer how the the 6" Lion-O looks over the 4". My problem is that the 4" line is going to be Bandai's main focus, which means that is the scale all the characters are going to come out first because it interacts with the vehicles, playsets, etc.

It's been happening for awhile, mostly CN shows get them. Video Games are also getting theatrical trailers.

We saw the Thundercats one before TF3 last week

I know this is real product vs. prototype, but I think even the sculpt of the 4 inch Lion-O looks better.

Prototype 4 inch (not sure if pictures of actual product are out yet)

    REAL product, 6 inch

Now, if the 6 inch ones looked as good as that first picture, I'd be all over that!

EDIT: You have to right click the link and go "open in new tab" or "open in new window" for them to work.

    GOOD!!! Sounds great!!

How much should I expect to have to pay for the classics Lion-O? If it's something as absurd as $25 to $45 dollars, the only Lion-O I'll be purchasing is the 4 inch version. Is the new Snarf only going to be available with the Thunder Tank?

I won't be having any problem with the scale as long as the figures are set at a reasonable price. As far as money goes, I'll only be able to be getting a few of them anyways.

The SDCC version I think is $40, I doubt retail would be that high for the regular but I still think $15-30 is going to be the range. Probably $17-21 which would put it in line with other figures of the same size in other lines

Is the new Snarf only going to be available with the Thunder Tank.
Manny might know otherwise but I thought I saw that the Thunder Tank was the only way to get him in the 1st waves anyway

    Bandai's site says:

8 inch Classics = SRP (Suggested Retail Price) $16.99
    4 inch figures = SRP $7.99
Thundertank with Snarf = SRP $29.99
Sword of Omens = SRP $19.99

Bandai doesn't have any of the 6 inch figures, other vehicles, etc. listed on their site, so that's all the pricing I can find!

It does appear like you can only get Snarf with the TTank.

Reasonable. Of course, I'd really think that figures of 4 inch stature should be a tad lower in price. $7.99 was the price of the 200x MOTU figures and those ones were 6 inch.

    ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Probably not getting this since it will obviously be set in child size.

Well, since the 4 inch line is already going to retail at $7.99 per figure, you can safely assume the 6 inch line will be much steeper.

Why couldn't Bandai pack a variant Snarf figure with Lion-O? Sounds logical to me.

The price for the classics line doesn't exactly make me too happy. I can understand if the materials are robust and the sculpt is decent, but still. I guess I'll just have to see when classics Lion-O comes out.

Any word on what the new title theme will be? I have heard echoes of samples from the classic Thundercats theme in the previews and trailers so HOPEFULLY WB sticks with the classic.

Anything other than what kind of crap was made for the theme to the new Voltron Force. That new theme sounds like what I flush down the freaking toilet.

The worst thing about the Voltron theme is that the end credit theme is the original theme

i was considering getting the 8" classics, but i'm gonna have to pass cause they aren't that impressive (and for $16.99 they really should be better) and they are not in scale with any other figure i own.

I see alot of people frowning on paying 17.99 for a Lion-O, but..... have no problem spending 30+ on a He-Man that may or maynot show up broken and have crappy paint apps. Weird.

Well, I've never had a broken figure or crappy paint apps. Plus, the articulation and sculpting blows these out of the water. They aren't even in the same league.

Now, that being said... I just ordered the Classics set at Enchanted Toy Chest (where they are actually in stock!). As a test. I don't think they look that bad... and let's face it, this is all we're likely to get. I also ordered the 6'' New Series figure as a test as well. If I like it, I'll get more at retail. I'm a little less than impressed with what I see with some of the pics, but I'm hoping in-hand they are better.

Honestly the 2 figures in size and sculpt are not really in the same league, plus its only $30+ if you include shipping which is not entirely being fair since if MOTUC was sold in stores at the same price the cost would be ~$23

With that said I am not sure why people are frowning, its in line with other retail toy lines.

I don't understand the bizarro world some of us are living in where figures are somehow cheap in price. I mean we have 3 3/4 Clone Wars and Marvel Legends for $7-9 but a 8" figure is supposed to be only $10-12??

I mean DC Universe figures which is the closest line in size is $14-18 depending on the store

I am not saying I am in love with figure pricing but Thundercats is not breaking any kind of rules or overcharging

Lion-O is growing on me. I never had plans on displaying Lion-O with He-Man, so that was not a problem for me at all. I think the biggest difference from the MOTUC and the ThunderCats Classic line is that MOTUC is not trying to be cartoon accurate. Lion-O looks exactly like his cartoon counterpart and because of that, the style is different.

That being said, I'd pay up to $25 for these figures simply for the fact that the articulation is amazing. I can put Lion-O in almost any pose I want, and it gives me goosebumps seeing him as a toy doing sight beyond sight.

i have a question regarding the original toon. because the cryo-freeze doesn't completely stop aging, lion-o ends up growing to full adulthood. but kit and kat don't grow at all. are they already full grown for their species? it was never clear. the monkeyian said, when fighting kit and kat, that he wished they were full grown. and they are often treated as kids...and they act like it too.

I believe Lion-Os chamber malfunctioned or something and he's the only one that ended up aging. Kit and kat were children during the whole show.

I agree. Plus, at least people have the option to try to find them in stores and not have to pay shipping on them (I preordered my T-Cats classics from BigBadToyStore just to make it easier).

Also, since these Classic T-Cats figures apparently won't be coming out at the same constant rate that the MOTUC figures are, it shouldn't be too hard to keep up with them.

I'd really like to know the origin of that explanation (Lion-O's capsule malfunctioning). I have heard it before, and I think it was used in the comics that came out a few years back. But it is NEVER stated on the show, as far as I can recall. It's definitely not mentioned during the first few episodes of the show when it would be most pertinent.

Not only do I have the DVD sets, but I still have the only Thundercats VHS tape that I had as a kid, which is Exodus: The Movie. It's the first few episodes of the show edited together into the movie, and there is even some additional extended scenes with additional dialogue in some parts that aren't included with the individual episodes.

The only explanation given was Jaga's statement, "While the suspension capsules slow down the aging process, some aging does take place". Jaga says this early on before he dies, and then later after the T-Cats crash on 3rd Earth and Lion-O wakes up and sees his reflection, and you hear that dialogue repeated when he is recalling what Jaga said.

I think if anything, Wily Kit and Kat are perhaps a different 'species' of Thundercats or something and they just don't get much bigger than they already are (at least on the original show). I could be wrong, but this malfunctioning capsule didn't come up in the show.. at least not the early episodes.

i just watched the first ep and i didn't hear them saying anything like that. jaga specifically said that the chambers would not stop the aging process and that's why he piloted the ship as long as he could because he knew he wouldn't survive the trip in the cryo-chamber (as he would continue aging).

that's what i'm thinking, but it's weird they continue to be treated like and act like kids. /shrug
