While it might not be considered canon, the Thundercats comics from Wildstorm that came out in early 2000's featured the future where Wilykit & Wilykat were adults...

While all of the cats may be different species(or at least different races), I think those 2 are still going to grow into the same size as the rest of the Thundercats unlike Snarf.

Until I hear otherwise, I'm just going to assume that Lion-O either went into the capsule on the brink of puberty or it just malfunctioned. Now the answer I do want is why is S-s-slithe the only mutant with a name? At least Lion-O, Jaga, Panthro, and the rest are variant forms of the animals they look like. Monkian, Jackalman, and Vultureman are the names of their species.

you know what's weird? in the initial scenes, when lion-o is still the size of kit and kat, they (kit and kat) are allowed to join the fight when the ship is attacked by mutants while lion-o is told he is too young.

but again, they are treated like kids and act like kids. probably just a small plot-hole in the toon. something explained in the comics that maybe they forgot about or ignored in the toon. /shrug

I don't think the kid issue was ever really addressed, then again we don't know how "old" they all are. I think the different species idea is probably the most likely. Just like how there are tons of different kinds of cats, I think there are tons of different kinds of species on Thundera. It would also explain Panthro who is obviously different than any of the others.

And as far as the capsule breaking, I think it was just assumed since everything crash landed and he was the only one that had such a rapid age difference. I think if the capsule had malfunctioned Lion-O would be dead, but I guess suspension of disbelief

Then there's the issue of Bengali, Lynxo, and Pumyra. I'm not quite as familiar with their introduction as I am the original few episodes (I've seen it their intro, of course, but it's been a while and I don't have as clear of a memory of it), but were they ever even in suspension capsules at all? Because they don't seem to age at all between their time on Thundera when it's blowing up, and when we eventually see them on 3rd Earth. And Lynxo doesn't look like he was much younger than Jaga, so you'd think even if he was in a capsule, that he's still run the risk of not surviving anyway just as the case with Jaga apparently would have been.

Do the Thundercats use toilets or giant litterboxes?

Why are no clothes OK on Thundera but clothes are needed on a primitive planet like Third Earth(isn't it usually the other way around)?

How could the Cats' Lair and Thundertank be made in such a short time by such a small number of people?

Why didn't they just kill Gilligan so they could get off the damn island without him ruining everything?

Silly man cartoon characters do not have to use the bathroom

Well Cats Lair was done by the Berbils, cause robot bears are superior! If only the Thundercats had the Ewoks to go with them they would really have no trouble with Mumm-Ra

also, i don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but Boomerang has been showing the original thundercats this weekend.

Man, if the Classic Thundercats toys used a more articulated version of the Mezco sculpt, I'd be all over them.

Thank you for that. I now know one of the future matchups for my Pop Culture Showdown thread...Ewoks VS Berbils.

That's really cool, but I have the same problem with that that I have with the 12" Star Wars Kenner replicas from Gentle Giant. As much as it's exactly what I want the toys to look like, they are way too big. If you get more than a few of them, you run out of room. Hell, I'm still hoping we get another MOTU toyline that's smaller than MOTUC and they are only 7-8".

I don't like the neck of Lion-O on the Mezco figure. Do you like it, Mark? I definitely prefer the Bandai Lion-O

Radiation, I guess. The clothes were referred to as protective clothing.
It's not quite clear if they were really naked or just wearing flesh (fur?) colored suits. All of them had underpants lines drawn.

I think it was implied that they can live for eons... In one episode, Mumm-Ra observed an event from eons ago which involved a young Jagga.

Eh? Jagga said nothing about him being too young. Just that he should stay where he is until they take care of the mutants (and he's royalty, after all. )

I am not in love with it but it does not really bother me, I think the problem is the hair should be lower or bigger (or just shorten the neck).

The rest of the sculpt is great though, I like it much better than the Lion-O Staction or Lion-O Statue.

The new title theme is just freaking garbage.

I hope Thundercats new theme is similar to that of Voltron Force. Nothing says giant robot action like a little Swizz Beatz. I wish Filmation had the good sense to add a little rap to their He-Man & She-Ra cartoons.

The closing theme of Voltron Force is a new variation based on the original theme -- I think that it works much better than the theme currently being used. I didn't know about it at first because I've been watching DVRed episodes and the closing credits don't get recorded.

Some fan overlayed the new show's closing music over it's opening, have a listen:

The same person also did one with the original theme music as well:

I hope the new ThunderCats series gets a variation of the original theme. I don't expect it to be identical, but it's a great theme and it'd be a shame to lose it entirely. Something grand and orchestral like the music in the Star Trek & Star Wars movies would be awesome.

I had to do a search to hear the original intro to the new one. Is this it?

If so, it kind of reminds me of Static Shock! (except SS's is a lot better )

In the series they are treated more like kids. I think what happened was the same thing that happened to most shows that opened with a movie. The movie was made earlier than they actual series, when the series was made some changes were made but they didn't happen in retroaction. Notice in the movie you have an army of lizardmen, monkian's etc but in the series you just have individual's from each of those species.

The probably decided to make them kids so they didn't have to keep re-explaining it. Continuity was different back then, heck the way Lion-0 and Snarf are treated varies from episode to episode. Till the mid 90s Continuity was very loose in most TV properties, they wrote for the episode.

The malfunctioning capsule at best is implied, and I think was mainly fan explanation of Lion-o aging but the Kits not. Myself I thought they Kits were too be older, but got treated like kids because of it. As an adult I think they just made a change like I said.

Much better indeed. And it's quite clearly composed for the intro.

Yeah my jaw hit the floor when I bought the iTunes season pass and the end credits rolled and it was the rock version of the original theme song! And you can see it even matches up special effect wise. I am guessing somewhere along the lines it was decided a rap song would appeal to the youth more and so they made the new theme for the intro

I can deal with it having heard it so many times now it does not bother me as much, but its still sad that we know they can do the original.

I hope Thundercats is just a variation of the original, I thought I read it was not to get a intro longer than 20-30 seconds. At least given the serious and dramatic nature of the show we might avoid a rap or "hip" opening for a more serious one ala MYP MOTU

The obvious fact is that Lion-O is royalty, and at least in the beginning, the sword would only work for people in the Lion-O family line. So therefore he was far too important to join the fight and risk loosing.

One of my favorite episodes is the one where Queen Willa actually uses the sword, and proves that ANYONE pure of heart can make it work, not just Lion-O. I hope they do more of that in this series...

that Pants line really bothered me. It made them look like moving action figures, which might have been the point. And I always found it odd that Jaga was allowed clothes...

yeah, Thundercats are apparently very long lived. Maybe a Hundred or two hundred years. Jaga survived ten years in a space ship before he finally bit the dust..

Later they implied that it was Jagara who used that machine in the Thundera's core to resurrect it and keep it whole.
Whole resurrection thing sent Thundercats rolling down the hill...

BTW, wasn't it stated that there were survivors living on the chunks of Thundera? How did they survive?!

I think it might be a nudity taboo that new people unused to the Thunderians might have. It's like a nudist going to the mall or the supermarket.

You can be naked on your own planet, but when interacting with others, you need clothes/armor and magic/special weapons.

What was funny was that the old characters weren't naked too...
