They're comfortable doing Monster High now that Lady GaGa is a hit.

I think this goes to show how dumb kids are now, can't blame them, look at all the stupid cartoons on today, spongebob is by far the best which is sad. They didn't get to grow up on the classics like we did, so they jump all over this weird lady gaga crap
When I'm lifting heavy objects I sometimes shout, "BY THE POWER OF GRAYSKULL"
...At least that song was pretty cool.

I don't know, I think it's a good idea. This type of genre is popular. It falls into the Twilight stuff. People wrapped up in He-Man, or myself with G.I.Joe may not understand it, but Mattel understood it enough to try and make dolls for it. Everyone has to face it sooner or later, He-Man is NOT a major seller with kids right now due to no promotionals, no cartoon, no movie, no nothing. Mattel obviously isn't going to heavily promote it so things like this, Skelanimals, Living Dead Dolls, BeGoths, and so many other things will keep out selling our G.I.Joes and He-Mans. Look at True Blood, and Vampire Diaries. 5 minute to 50 minute sell outs on low production run figures doesn't count.

Because Monster High isn`t franchise that has failed TWICE (3 times if you count NA, 4 of you count Pop)![]()

Well, whoever is marketing these things needs to market MOTU.
A MOTU book series for teens could be just as popular as Harry Potter.
Hogwarts= Castle Grayskull
Harry= Adam
Voldemort= Skeletor
Dumbledore= Sorceress
Lots of similarites there...except MOTU has robots, lizard guys, crab guys, space ships, laser guns, cyborgs, bee people and just about a million other things kids should go crazy over.
What is the problem here?

# 1 - Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's crap.
# 2 - For every MOTU we had growing up, we also had a Snork, so don't judge.
#3 - Kids today get lots of the stuff we had growing up (Transformers, Scooby Doo, Justice League/Batman/Superman/whatever iteration they're currenty on, TMNT) plus cool stuff o their own (Ben 10, Avatar, Phineas and Ferb, American Dragon).
#4 - Spongebob is the awesome.
#5 - Gaga is the new Madonna. Show some respect.

Um, MOTU has only failed in the retail sense once, in 2002. MOTU was one of the biggest successes of the 80's, POP and NA both did respectably and continued through a decent run. Only the 2002 line started losing steam after half a year and can count as a failure at the toy pegs.
As for Monster High, with the popularity of Twilight, this retread of an old idea was likely inevitable. As an old Universal Monsters fan, I can actually see the appeal of it; it's as much an archetype as many of the elements of MOTU.

I love these things. My wife and I are buying all of them and very excited about This monster High line. If I wasnt married, I just may have bought them anyway. Love monsters. Glad little girls will have a monster alternative to the other fashion dolls, even Barbie, even if they are fashion dolls themselves.
I hope this line lives a long time. In a way, the time of the rule of toys is long gone, but this is a great move. I can only think it bodes well for MOTUC, Masters toys in general, and Mattel.
I hope it works, and it's pure beauty to behold. And like they said above, new line deserves a chance. For all the love of Masters, just us "supafans" aren't enough to keep it alive on it's own. It hasnt really hit since it's original run, and even then as has been pointed out, that wasnt that long lived in a way, as for consistancy, as say GI Joe or Transformers.
Giving these girls a chance isnt in any way relevant to MOTUC except as a possible great new toyline that will add revenue to Mattel and give them more freedom to do more with all their toylines.
Did I mention I absolutely love Monster High? Course I'm a monster kid...
I don't have a daughter but if I did, I'd be buying all of them for her. While I am not part of the demographic that Mattel is targeting, I love the idea of teens based on classic monsters.
I agree but for that very reason I wouldn't show her any respect. I guess I'm a prude but I can't show anyone respect who is known as much for wearing little clothes & groping themselves in public as they are for their music. She may be good at marketing herself but, like Madonna, she's coasting on little talent when compared to people like Christina Aguilera who can actually sing.Sorry, this isn't directed at you as much as the fact that I'm just sick of Lady Gaga and her performance art antics.
I am such a little girl.I watched that whole video and am now going to have that song stuck in my head for days.

Madonna was....ok looking. Though I will grant you that Gaga is...not.
Christina didn't start that way because she was on the MMC. Her first studio album had a song from Mulan on it. When you're in bed with the mouse, you gotta follow certain rules.
Gaga came out of nowhere and was able to mold her own image right out of the gate.

I was first intrigued by the name Monster High. I checked into it and was interested in the figures. If they weren't so "cutesy" I would definitely get them. Anything dealing with monsters is a plus for me. I guess I'll just have to settle for my Bleeding Edge Goths.

Monster High? Never heard of it.
The way you guys describe it it is like the bratz went from wh-ores to zombie wh-ores.
Can someone PM me the US number for Matty? I want to talk to someone who might has a clue of what is going on.

I am so derailing this thread so this is my last comment about popstars.![]()
I found Madonna hot when I was a little kid but that's also because I was able to buy various issues of Vanity Fair where she was topless in them(DON'T JUDGE ME! This was before the internet and I got my "porn" where I could.). To be honest, I don't think she's much better looking than Gaga. Gaga has a big nose(although she can look attractive when she isn't wearing giant bird masks) but Madonna had David Letterman's teeth. I don't think either of them would be the stars they are(they may be able to sing on key but neither one of them is a strong singer imo) if it wasn't for the press they get for outlandish costumes and acting odd in public.
