I have a feeling that we might get the drule empire (Lothar, Lotor, Haggar)
And possibly a C&C Robeast to match Voltron

I don't see them moving onto Vehicle until Lion is finished, or at least most of Lion since I think they need something to dangle over the Vehicle haters to get them to subscribe

Yeah, sorry to be a bit of hater there, but Vehicle Voltron just didn't connect with me. It felt totally disconnected from Voltron, and I was never drawn in enough to watch it closely to find the connections like Pidge's bro. Plus I'm pretty sure I never saw its beginning or the Fleet of Doom, so whatever ground work was there I just missed.

But villains are too essential. I guess they might mix it up and spread Vehicle Voltron over two years along with villains. I just know they will make wait forever for even a chance of Queen Merla!

I definitely want villains and Robeasts over Vehicle Voltron. There is a poll on the Matty boards asking about this very thing, actually, and the villains seem to be winning.

As much of a Vehicle fanboy as I am I still want the villains more

That said these options are horrible:

    Classic Metallic Evil Voltron
Voltron from the new Voltron Force series

Voltron Force is going to have toys, why would I want to pay most likely 2x what the retail line is for a collectors version. Same deal with the Classic Metallic one, I have never been a fan of metal or chromed versions of robots. Even less so with the cost of a subscription.

Definitely Classic Villains or Coran and the Space Mice would be my choice.

I just hope when it comes time for Vehicle's turn (provided we get a turn) the Lion fans don't turn their back and **** all over it. It did make up almost half the original show

Same here...never had the toys & never saw the cartoon...Voltron is and will always be...the 5 Lions...period...!

If they mix Vehicle Voltron with the villains, I will rather fight with the WSOD to get the villains than paying for the vehicle voltron...

If they have a 2nd year sub I would LOVE a giant robeast to FINALLY have something for my Voltron to battle.

Vehicle Voltron just has never clicked with my either but if they make an awesome toy i'd get it.

I think it'd be cool if 2013 were giant Roto-cast Robeasts and classic villain figures. The Doomtank would not be unwanted either.

The problem with Vehicle Voltron... it couldn't really be the same as the Lion Force one, could it? I don't think you'd fit a 3 3/4'' figure in each unless each vehicle were ridiculously huge. I do think it'd be nice to have a ultra-poseable version like the Blazing Sword Voltron from SDCC.

Who was that prince that became a Robeast that was bigger than Voltron?

The story was that there was a sister planet that had a princess that looked exactly like Allura and she had two brothers. That planet sided with Zarkon and gave Haggar the oldest son to become this huge Robeast to fight Voltron with.

    He'd make a cool villain/Robeast toy imo

Yeah each vehicle would have to be the same size as the figure I think

Technically it could be but not sure Mattel would want to attempt it and not sure it would go over well since I think I am its only fan

I think a Poseable version would do OK, they have made those overs the year, the most recent the Toynami Vinyl figure.

I guess I'm meant to agree with you on all "b-list" robots from the 80's. First it was Gobots and now Vehicle Voltron. I can't say I'm a fan of the toon since I've never seen it, but I definitely think the idea of it is cool. 15 vehicles and their pilots combine to make a giant robot? That's awesome! If I have the money, I'd definitely be interested in that as a sub. Sure, I want somes villains first, but after that I'm game.

That Voltron reveal at SDCC was insane. I saw at least a dozen people behind me shout on the first night that the 23" Voltron was the coolest thing they ever saw.

Lol, I haven't seen anything for the new series and that reel just threw me for a loop...

Allura doesn't wear pink? There are new kids being trained to pilot Voltron? No Keith (maybe)? The Optimus Prime from Beast Wars is doing the voice for the character that the original Optimus Prime did in the original series? The black lion doesn't need to be the center lion anymore? Sven was injured in the original series and became a hobo in the new one?

    Lol

    Lol
The short of it, this show takes place 5 or so years after the original. The Lions were tampered with and exiled at the end of the Drule war. In the 3 part mini series the pilots came out of exile and brought Voltron back when Lotor was resurrected.

2 of the kids were cadets with the Alliance, they now work with the Voltron force to provide abilities such as speed and power. The girl is Allura's niece

No Allura wears blue, they all wear their corresponding Lion colors now.

Keith is there, he cut his hair when he returned from exile and Lance made fun of his 80's mullet.

Optimus Prime is Sky Marshall Wade, he is the guy responsible for exiling the Lions and is infatuated with replicating them for his own schemes.

The Lions can now switch out who is the head, when they do that Lions abilities take over (Lance for example can form dual guns instead of a blazing sword)

Sven is returning but we don't know why or how, he returned once in the original series in the 2nd US only season to pilot the Blue Lion.

    You are now caught up

i get the feeling that if mattel made vehicle voltron, it would be spread out over two years. i guess if it takes off like MOTUC did, they might put all the vehicles into one year, but it just seems like it would be a really expensive year.

Matty just posted a pic of Seth Green being a fanboy at the new line of toys

I wonder if he is going to buy a Lion Force Subscription and use them in Robot Chicken like he did with the old Panosh Place Lions lol

Pixel Dan's interview with the Voltron designer at Mattel is up now

Interesting answers about why the Lions are plastic vs diecast and when we might see Voltron Force toys.

After watching this interview I am really confident Mattel has Voltron in its best interest, the designer spoke about a lot of stuff that really hit home about the older toys

Great video! I loved what we heard and it's very encouraging. I didn't understand what the guy meant by "late after 2012" but I'm guessing we won't see anything from the new series until summer/fall of next year. Which is a bummer.

Sweet! Thanks for that(Dan too). You could tell the designer was very passionate. He had that speed talking thing going that I do myself when I'm excited about the subject I'm discussing.

I don't know if it's Mattel or what, but it's odd that both Voltron Force & Young Justice will be either done or halfway done with their first season before any toys are released. I remember as a kid the toys would hit before the toon at times.

I found that strange as well. If you want kids even more excited about Voltron (or any other show), you have to have the toys, so they can play with them while watching the show or on the commercial breaks (which is what I used to do)...

Yeah I took issue with that and I have two ideas

1)He could not say they are coming next year since they are not officially done yet, by giving a 2012 date he does not **** off his bosses by promising a toy line that does not actually exist.

2)They are wanting to see how the Classic Lion Force does before dedicating $$$$ to a new toy line. I can only guess they are looking at how many people are signing up. That would help them determine how best to reach its audience outside just commercials.

Honestly I think its #1 and we will see them next Feb at Toy Fair for a release in the summer

It is incredibly late but I noticed when I bought my Season Pass on iTunes it was for Voltron Force Season 1 Part 1, which means since its 26 episodes I bet the first 13 air this year and then it goes on break till Jan to resume with the remaining 13 and put the toys out during summer reruns.

Not the best way imho to run a toyline but I guess with its ratings Nicktoons and Classic Media are not too concerned.
