I wasn't able to be online when the sale was first happening so I tried ordering last night. He was listed as "Almost Gone" but when I clicked to add him to cart, it would just take me to the cart screen and say my cart was empty. After some craziness with Photog (a different story that I posted elsewhere), I just decided to purchase Photog while I could and hope to get the Red Lion when their site was actually working, even if it meant extra shipping. Unfortunately, this morning it's still "Almost Gone", yet it won't let me actually purchase one.

Despite what Scott says about things getting better, things seem to just be unravelling more and more.

Edit: Just a few minutes after posting this, the site (well, certain pages anyway ) updated to have Red Lion listed as sold out. Oh well, guess I won't be buying Voltron toys now.

Yeah if the cart was empty the item was sold out, usually it takes about 5min for the overall site to reflect that but overnight is usually unstaffed.

You will have another chance when they sell off their return/exchange stock like they do with all their lines, or even a Mad Matty Monday sale in November.

Yeah, that'd be cool if it happens because I'm definitely not paying the $80ish I've seen other places for one of the cheap lions. The cost of the line was already dubious to me to start with.

I just did some figuring this morning based on what I was charged in shipping from the Star Sisters order and Voltron, and between that and a bunch of backtracking and investigating, it looks like (assuming everyone else's case is similar to mine), we are actually getting a "combined" shipping rate for the intial items in subs that were ordered together, but they are shipping/billing separately with a portion of the original initial shipping total allocated to it.

I'm sorry you weren't able to get your Lion Sword2Blanket(although, like Mark says, Mattel will offer it again since they've done that with everything else), but I'm happy that it sold out. I was scared it was going to last as long as the Blazing Sword Voltron did. Having said that, if they aren't going to do Vehicle Voltron, even if this line is successful, I'm not sure there are a lot more toys from the franchise that Mattel could offer that will continue that trend.

Yeah, it's good to see the interest is there, but like you said, I think the five lions are about all we're going to get. It'd be cool to see the villains and a Robeast, but I don't know how they could really do that with the current release format.

I think we will get 1 more Voltron sub, probably the villains and a CnC Robeast and that will be it (and pretty much what most of us were wanting anyway). There is not a whole lot of variation and diversity in the Voltron Universe that a small niche line can handle.

I think that Voltron won't last past this sub offering. Especially if it stays expensive as it is!

I would LOVE that! And hope it happens. But I wouldn't be surprised if it's just this Voltron, and then that's the end.

I Got my Voltron Sub Arrived today!!! The billing is a little strange though? I orded a MOTUC and a Voltron Sub back in July. It said on the invoice 35.00 for the Red Lion. 15.00 for the Lance figure. but charged me a total of 70.00 instead of 50. It also charged me 11.75 in shipping ( I live in CA) plus the tax for 70.00 not 50.00. The funny thing is I called my Credit Card Company and I have no charges on it yet? I am going to wait until I get my MOTUC Classic stuff before I find out whats going on. I like to have all my information before I call in to DR and who knows it all might shake out right in the end...

The Red Lion is Fantastic and Really Big. It is about the size of Battle Cat ( Like Dan showed in his video)

I would love that! But part of me is worried that even though the Red Lion sold out it'll be a Wind Raider situation where they actually made a very small amount and the sell-out wasn't good enough and this year is all we'll get. I want to be optimistic though...

I think that'd be kinda cool, too. However, I wonder how they'd pull it off? With a Lion and a pilot, I can see $50, but no way could they sell Lotor and a Robeast arm for that much. A lion can stand on its own, but a robeast arm is just an arm and it would probably still cost just as much or more than a Lotor or the like. There'd have to be some savy marketing and price point scheming to pull it off. That said, I hope they can make it happen.

Maybe they could sell the villains with a Doom Coffin (or smaller vehicle) and a Robeast piece?

Plus it would have to be an iconic Robeast... and even then it's iffy. Would people be willing to spend as much on a giant Robeast (of which there are many and there isn't one single specific primary one) as they are on Voltron? I don't necessarily see how or why that would be a better seller than Vehicle Voltron.

If Mattel is following the older Panosh Voltron releases, then it wouldn't be a RoBeast/Figure release, but more likely a vehicle/figure release like Lotor with a Coffin of Doom or Zarkon with a Skull Tank.

They don't need savy marketing if they are selling the Villains, they could easily charge $25 for a villain and a robeast part. Its not necessary to have a $50-70 month of Voltron, its only that expensive because of the low production run cost.

Vehicle Voltron would be too cumbersome and cost more to complete (you are looking at virtually 2-3 the parts and figures), like I said package Robeast parts with the villains would drive more sales then Vehicle Voltron. People would spend money to have cartoon accurate villains (especially since some never came out in Panosh Place)

Just make the sub figure Coran and you will get sales

I think the vehicles would be too much, people need a reason to buy all the figures and doing something that will enable people to only want part of the sub would be a disaster.

Kind of glad that the set sold out so fast.

I was tempted to pick it up but I passed on it.

I'm going to wait and see what the general consensus is on this first set. If the reviews are good and Mattel does another run I might jump on. I really can't afford another line right now.

Mattel better support this line by giving us villians either at SDCC or next year. I am seriously going to be mad if I supported their crappy lions and pilots and I do not get a Lotor, Hagar, and Zarkon out of the deal.

I just wish I could have found someone to go 50/50 on the sets with, I have no interest in the Lion's. Trendmasters oddly did it damn good.

You are mad like 24/7 at Mattel so I am not sure your demeanor will change any

But I agree, they need to find a way to do 5 villains, there is not way a sub with Lotor, Hagar, Zarkon, Merla, and Yurak (or Cossack)

I think they could do the Robeast from the Fleet of Doom special, it was 5 animals I think

There are four Robeasts that I can think of that have any real notoriety to them that would be worth the cost of a figure (from voltroncentral:
    Zarkon
    normal_PDVD_031.jpg

    Yurak
    normal_cap089.jpg

This Guy (from the sister planet of Planet Ares who had the princess that looked exactly like Allura - her older brother became a huge Robeast to defeat Voltron)

This Guy (Single episode about a white lion who was the false reincarnation of the original Planet Ares king)

I am not always mad at Mattel, you are just focusing on my negative posts.

I would have bought pilots if they were offered separately.
