Read up a few posts, I think I copy and pasted all the costs from when the sub page was active last night

Basically its $15 per pilot, Sven is the exclusive figure

Then there are 3 tiers for Lions, Red and Green are cheapest, Yellow and Blue are next, and Black is the most expensive

The figures, from what I can see, actually look pretty good. If I support this do they promise to make good figures of those villains I love?! Lotor, Zarkon, Merla, Yorak, Hagar...oh how I want those! Wait, are these by the 4 Horsemen?

No idea but I would guess they have at least some input since Voltron is a BIG line for Mattel and many theorize is solely responsible for any MOTU Filmation deals.

In otherwords Mattel HAS to bring their A game on these figures

I really would love to see a Lotor or a Hagar but it looks like Year 1 is strictly the Lions and the Lion Force according to the sub details

I'm not one of these guys who's never satisfied, but that really looks unfinished and cheap. Hopefully it gets changed.

I mean, I'm not saying I love it either... but that's the reality of the situation. It's not like Mattel is ripping us off. They did say they might mix the Classic stuff in with the new series stuff at retail eventually. So if you want to chance it, you could wait it out and see.
Less articulation? Those figures do not have as much articulation as GI Joe, and I only paid $8 a piece for those.
Can someone PM me the US number for Matty? I want to talk to someone who might has a clue of what is going on.

GI Joe is being done on a mass market scale as far as production goes (higher volume, cheaper pricing), these are not which is basically the honest to god reason behind the price increase

VOLTRON FORCE Toys were just put out by Mattel in their display

    Wow he is HUGE!

But I almost died when I saw the new Voltron Force Voltron, he looks so badass and sleek. They nailed the new toyline spot on, I hope we get to see pilots cause I want to see how they translate to figure form.

OMG!! Those Voltron Force lions look awesome! You hit the nail on the head markatisu! They do look sleek. PLEASE tell me they're going to be cheaper than Matty's lions! SO cool. And I really hope they make the other lions able to form the head. (honestly, that's such a cool new element it's not even funny)

TNI has some awesome shots of Matty's and Voltron Force lions.

They should be, like I said before the Voltron Force toys are being made for mass retail which means LARGE production numbers. I would expect each Lion will most likely be $15-20, more if its comes with the figure. Its hard to tell but I think price wise it should match up with a GI Joe Vehicle in pricing

I am not sure if these are final versions, the Black Lion especially looks more like a painted prototype. Which means the toyline probably will be in stores Q1 2012

Makes sense since Voltron Force S1 is being split into 2 parts and the 1st half is 1/2 way through. These toys would probably be in stores by the time the 2nd half of the show comes on in the Spring and would work to cross promote the Classics line.

Pixel Dan just posted a nice shot of the Voltron Classics

I love this line. Seriously, it looks amazing. The new series stuff is shaping up to look really good as well. The lions are MASSIVE. That Black Lion really looks like a $50 toy when you realize how big it is.

Seeing the new series toys though, I do wonder why they didn't go with metallic paint instead of white on the Classic Voltron toys. That's the only thing I don't totally love. But that's not a deal breaker.

I know it's insane considering how much money I'll be spending between MOTUC and Voltron subs, but I ALMOST want to get two Voltron subs so I can permanently have a combined Voltron AND the individual Lions. But considering I'm likely to be getting the new series stuff too... along with Classic Thundercats, Marvel Universe, Young Justice, the Doctor Who line and the occasional Hot Toys release....

Uh, yeah. That's too much money on toys.

Yeah the white has to be a design choice because the 2 series of Lions look different enough where silver on both would not confuse people

I really love the Voltron Force look, I am just giddy on how well it translated to toys

They got Pidge and Allura done very well

Those pilots are very nice, but again, I just cannot justify the price with shipping. I guess if I could get all 5 at the same time and only have to deal with one shipping cost, it would not be as bad, but right now, no.

And I want nothing to do with Voltron Force. The show is crap for one thing. Secondly, I only care about the Golion designed characters (and Dairugger if they ever do them).

Let's face it Hasbro is king when it comes to 3 3/4 figures and Mattel usually makes some of the worst, so to me it's expected. I'd have to say however these look pretty good.

What's funny is that the black lion has added paint deco on the legs while the others do not. I can live with that and it doesn't look half bad even though it's not metallic. Hopefully these are still protos and the others will get some detail as well.

If enough people complain about it at SDCC they probably will, since the first Lion does not ship till Jan/Feb 2012 there is plenty of time.

    No that is Lance

Sven is the sub exclusive figure and he wears a more black/navy blue outfit

He is to the left of them all, Princess Allura takes over his place when he gets "injured" or killed if you watch the JP Go Lion series

Let's hope for the best!! I've been waiting for this set for a LONG LONG time since I never had one as a kid and refused to buy one that didn't have 3 3/4 figures that could sit inside. Now......it's here....Ahh, feels good!

It was probably someone who didn't know better and figured "the guy in the red suit must go in the red lion"
