As a Transformers fan (and those toys have bios on the back of the package ever since 1984), I like the bios (except for some things) and can accept that MOTUC is a new era, not Filmation, not 200X, but something else entirely.

I also would have appreciated something a little closer to the Transformers' "tech specs", where they detailed characters' ability levels, as well as the personality of the characters, along with a bit of history. And the MOTU bios are often very nebulous or outright contradictory, leading to some degree of confusion. But I hold out hope that this will all make sense in the end.

They are the Mattel's feeble attempt at putting out story without mini-comics. Unfortunately, they tried too hard to be nostalgic when the figures themselves were nostalgic enough. So they've incorporated nine thousand little known facts about the 80's production run, or concept art, or idea pitches, into a REALLY REALLY bad story.
It is very similar to the first batman movies. They get lazy and greedy and decide its better to just add more stars to the movie than to just have a well written script. In the end, Skeletor will be Adam's estranged uncle who defeats Hordak on his way out into space? Or perhaps Oo-Larr will be Randor's grandfather? And then Mo-Larr will be his OTHER Half-Brother? Or perhaps we'll learn that Megator built snake mountain because he's Tytus' counterpart and didnt want to be out done? The Stories and especially the LAME "Real Names" (As if creatures and beings from another world must have a given name and a surname) are just ridiculous.

I just couldn't resist to take the last option.

The Bios are fun and nothing else.
Maybe Marzo as an archenemy was the biggest thing to happen to Mekaneck, but as far as Marzo was concerned...it was Tuesday.

I think the bios generally suck. Especially the real names.

Occasionly there will be a good idea or an interesting fact in a bio that I'll incorporate into my own canon, but generally I read them, roll my eyes, and ignore them.

I, for one, love the bios and the real names.

    I'm digging it.

I don't really give the bios too much thought. As a Transformers and GI*JOE collector, I have no problem displaying characters from different continuities side by side. So I don't care how well different characters mesh together.

I pretty much make my own canon by merging the information that I like from all MOTU eras but I dont have anything against the bios they are interesting and pretty good. I dont see how anyone could find them confusing. Anything I dont like or agree with I just ignore.

I'm going mostly with my own canon and ignoring some of the real names: Squiddish, Raquel, Hector...
While there are some bios that work, there are others that are just meh...
Too much: Cloning, Second born, dead brother in the bios.
add the confusing timeline that we need to wait and see to learn something that we might already know. Can't stand the redundant redundancy on some bios.
FINALLY!! GLIMMER IS IN MY SHELF!! Now I need a Crita!! Crita is to Mara what Evil Lyn is to Teela. If we ARE getting Mara, then we NEED Crita.

I love them, and I don't find them confusing at all. Perhaps a gander at the excellent Narrative thread would sway some of the nay-sayers...?

I look forward to where they take us.
Not to sound like a creepy cheerleader for Uki, but it's nice to know there is at least one person on this forum who is extremely positive & friendly all the time. I don't think I could be that nice even if you paid me. If we ever give out awards for "forum member of the month", Uki gets my vote. -Mr. Shokoti

I think they are alright accept for the absurd powersword storyline, and the terrible real names. It's not my personal favorite version of MOTU, but I think it works well enough.

I don't mind the new bios. If there is something inthem that I don't like, I don't have to accept them. But for the most part, I am interested in the new interwoven story that they are weaving.

I really like the new bios. I love how they give new details, depths and motivations to the characters, so that they aren't just run of the mill good guys and bad guys like they were.
I like how they attempt to fuse all the various stories together.
Some of the real names are a bit weird or stupid, but I can easily ignore them.
Fictional characters are just that. Fictional. They have no personality or free will of their own.
Writers and editors mold them to their own wants and needs.
All we as the audience and fans can do is pick and choose our favorite interpretation and ignore the rest.

I like them but not always 100%.

Sometimes there are parts of them that I just can't stand.

Example: I prefer the 200X origin of Skeletor much better than the Classics version. The whole Demo Man thing I personally don't like.

Another is Orko. I prefer the Filmation origin over the Classics bio. Orko being a "guide" for Adam is ridiculous IMO.

This doesn't affect my enjoyment of the figures though.

I don't like everything that is printed on them, but I am happy that we are getting a story that unifies all eras of MOTU.

I personally like them but think they could be better, I too am tired of waiting for it all to make sense someday, I know mattel feels that a mini comic couldn't make it but as I've been saying a lot lately, I wish they would come out with a MOTU classics guide style comic book similar to Dreamwave's More Than Meets The Eye series for Transformers, so that we could get a more indepth expansion of the bios and they could canonize certain elements of the story for the classics continuity such as the official origin of castle grayskull, the elders, and facts about the Great unrest period. It would help to tie everything together and paint a much better picture than the bios could ever do by themselves
When I'm lifting heavy objects I sometimes shout, "BY THE POWER OF GRAYSKULL"

For trying to tie in so many diverse series as well as to act as advertisement for future releases I think the bios work...

I love the Bios and the unification of all eras, but I would also love to see stats with it, like the 200x Encyclopedia that was never finished. That was awesome. Maybe they should come out with a Bio/Stat book at the end of every year of all the figures of that year. Like MotU Classics Year 1 book. Of course they have some catching up to do. But also still pushing for a Novel.
